Information technology company Kaseya warned its 40,000 clients that there was a “potential attack” on its VSA tool, which is used to manage computers remotely. The company posted a security advisory to its help desk site, urging customers to shut down their servers running the service:
We are experiencing a potential attack against the VSA that has been limited to a small number of on-premise customers only as of 2:00 PM EDT today.
We are in the process of investigating the root cause of the incident with an abundance of caution but we recommend that you IMMEDIATELY shutdown your VSA server until you receive further notice from us.

Putin just kicked Biden in the nuts. Will Biden notice?

Russia my ass. I haven't seen any evidence at all of that. Russia is the Dems favorite boogeyman.
Kaseya should have been working to harden their systems, which are similar in function and scope to SolarWinds as soon as that attack took place months ago. That they left their software wide open to the same type of attack is emblematic of the complacency that exists across the IT world. It is a never ending fight between the developers who do everything in their power to undercut security, and the far too few security professionals that try to keep the devs from giving away the store.

I doubt very much they can trace the hack.... these hackers use dozens or servers in dozens of countries. The democRATs want you to think it's Sergey with a bottle of vodka sitting at his PC.

I get a hoot out of hearing commercials on Sirus XM for CrowdStrike's ant-hacking/ransomware software. Weren't they the folks who told the FBI back in 2016 that the FBI should take their word that the DNC was hacked by the Russians and the FBI said, well, if you say so. BTW, who killed Seth Rich?

Notice to private companies. You have a right to defend yourself, and your property. We have some smart people in this country. Do you think one of you can think of a way to defend and strike back at those destroying people's networks, and demanding ransoms? Maybe, we need to get the Israeli's on this. They seem to have a way to melt their enemies computer systems.

There is only one legitimate purpose for the internet, and thats free nudity. To beat all this hacking all you have to do is download it to a physical drive and you'll have it forever. If one site gets ruined, ten more will pop up to replace it.
Everything else the net does can be better done on paper, the phone, or radio and TV. It worked well for decades and even centuries.

Really? If you want to stop your company from getting hacked, just pull the plug on the internet. Simple. Easy. None of your people need to access your computers from the golf course or their boat.....

Russia, my Aunt Fannie! Whatever the press/DNC says is done by Russia is usually the tech b'tards in Silicon Valley. The only thing Russia has is biblical proportion ENVY.

The best way to avoid computer hackers is to come back to earth and minimize computer usage.
We got along well without them.

These companies need to start hiring people based upon experience and competence instead of intersectionality points or just plain cheap H1-B warm bodies. We are faced with a self-made crisis of incompetence in this country. Companies that fail to correct this are doomed to extinction.
