China vs. America

There can be little doubt the United States is now in a contest with China over which will be the most important country in the world. In important respects, we are replicating the German challenge to the United Kingdom prior to World War I and the renewed German challenge of the 1930s, or the Soviet challenge for 45 years after World War II. As China grows stronger and bolder, and especially as the United States fumbles its way through periods of great distraction and internal political strife, the Chinese—like Hitler—become more brazen and provoking. (Snip)the whole world has seen China steadily raising the ante and becoming more brazen and

By now you may be sick of my recommending this book, but, seriously, Michael Pillsbury predicted all of this in his book The Hundred-Year Marathon: China's Secret Strategy to Replace America as the Global Superpower, published in 2015! I read it in an ebook via my public library. And online booksellers have it. This is all part of a long range plan that the CCP expects to culminate in 2049 with their being #1 in the world. I am about to read this book for the second time. It is not just a must read, but an essential read.

FTA: The West has been guided by Greco-Roman and then Judeo-Christian values since about 600 B.C.. No one should underestimate how demeaning and demoralizing it would be if those values were effectively subordinated to an ethos dictated by the Chinese Communist Party. The humiliation implicit in such an epochal upheaval of the world would shatter the morale of our society and we might enter a period of eclipse as lengthy and profound and miserable as that from which China has just emerged.

The 20th Century is past, as is more than a fifth of the 21st. The Cold War is long over. As they are today, the Soviets/Russians are not a true superpower, unable to project its power much further than its bordering neighbors. But they make convenient foils for Americans who need to buy more and better military stuff, maintain a huge fighting force, and pretend they lead the "free world". The USA whizzes away blood and treasure to remain #1, fumbling in every conflict since Korea. Fighting shepherds and ill-trained/ill-equipt armies to a draw isn't being #1. Hanging out 20 years to see your trainees run out of Afghan provinces is a pretty poor legacy. Let's cut the corn. The Chinese bought their way into South America and Africa with their "New Silk Road" initiative. For example, they financed, built and largely manage the expanded Panama Canal because the USA was/is too busy to pay attention to its hemispheric interests, preferring to fool around in the Middle East, South China Sea or off the Korean coast. NATO is a simple mercenary arrangement as we provide the military power to the effete Euros, allies who finance Russian pipelines to supply their gas. Time for America to re-read Washington's Farewell Address.

A 5 cent per bullet tax will be proposed in Pennsylvania as part of legislation to be brought forth by two state House Democrats, Rep. Manny Guzman and Rep. Stephen Kinsey. The tax would fund a state police database of ammunition sold in Pennsylvania. The planned legislation would require ammunition manufacturers to encode ammunition provided for retail sale in Pennsylvania, and to provide ammunition serial numbers to the Pennsylvania State Police for the ammunition database. The plan was revealed in a joint memo to the state legislature by Guzman and Kinsey.

A federal judge has sided with Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) in a First Amendment lawsuit, allowing the first-time Congresswoman to continue blocking a critic on her personal Twitter account. Boebert, a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump, blocked former state Rep. Brianna Buentello, a Democrat, after Buentello criticized Boebert’s remarks in the days leading up to the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol, calling her a “seditionist” and demanding that she resign. Buentello sued on the basis of First Amendment rights, arguing that Boebert’s Twitter block was not an act of a private individual, but an act on behalf of the state, because Boebert uses her personal Twitter account

The Wisconsin Supreme Court recently rejected a lawsuit that sought to ban the state’s usage of absentee ballot drop-boxes, although another legal challenge on their use is still being considered in a lower court. Conservative businessman and GOP donor Jere Fabick in March petitioned (pdf) the state Supreme Court in March to consider a ban of the drop-boxes, arguing that they violate state election laws. He also sought to ban election officials from filling in missing addresses of witnesses on ballot envelopes, and his suit attempted to limit who can return absentee ballots to election clerks.

Donald Rumsfeld, who charted an impressive Washington career serving under four presidents but whose legacy largely was defined by his controversial tenure as defense secretary during the Iraq war, has died, his family announced Wednesday. He was 88. Rumsfeld, a confident adviser to power with a trenchant style that made him admirers as well as enemies, had a long and winding career in public life that spanned five decades. He had been a congressman and a White House chief of staff, and had a successful corporate career, too. But it was his second term as secretary of Defense from 2001 to 2006 – during the most tumultuous period of the

Beyond the insanity of the U.S. southern border being unsecured, many people wonder how this entire logistical process is funded. The answer is quite simple; within every federal spending and appropriation bill there are carve-outs for various segments of the process. The Department of Homeland Security and Department of Health and Human Services receive hundreds of billions in supplemental appropriation funding from within each federal spending package. Each of the COVID relief bills contained money to facilitate various elements of this process. Federal housing grants, food assistance programs, education funding, employment and income assistance, all of it, every single spending package, contains funding mechanisms to support the

Editor’s Note: Some of the accounts in this article contain graphic and disturbing details of torture and other forms of degrading treatment. Founded in July 1921, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has wreaked death and destruction on the Chinese populace for a century. Armed with the Marxist ideology of “struggle” as its guiding principle, the CCP has launched scores of movements targeting a long list of enemy groups: spies, landlords, intellectuals, disloyal officials, pro-democracy students, religious believers, and ethnic minorities. With each campaign, the Party’s purported goal has been to create a “communist heaven on earth.” But time and again, the results have been the same: mass suffering and death.

Vogue, the world's fashion bible, has placed Jill Biden on her cover as the epitome of fashion. She's a "goddess," they explain. Which is a stretch, given that the first lady has sported getups like this loud red zebra print dress, or these huge-print patterned pantyhose worn with elfin spike heel ankle boots. After all, the big fashion bible for the world's stylish somehow managed to overlook the nation's truly stylish first lady, Melania Trump, a former super-model, who not only was quite beautiful, but age-appropriate and elegant in her four years as first lady.
