The House of Representatives has voted to remove all statues of Confederates from inside the Capitol building. The legislation passed 285-120. All those who voted against are Republican representatives, of which there are currently 211. As expected, dozens of Republicans did back the bill, with 67 voting in favor of it. Those to vote against the bill included former Vice President John Cadlwell Calhoun, James Paul Clarke, a former governor of Arkansas, and Jefferson Davis, a former U.S. senator from Mississippi and president of the Confederate States of America.Every Democratic member to vote supported the legislation; two did not vote.

I was unsurprised to learn that the only Arkansas congressman who didn't vote against this was the "Republican" weasel squish from my district in central Arkansas, Miss French Hill.

I was glad to see that my house member did not vote to submerge our great history in the slime bucket of CRT.
No history, no nation.

The list that should have been made would be those who voted for the bill, hence destroying/covering up history in the same way Hitler did in Germany and Stalin did in Russia. Of course Democrats don't want reminders of their past when THEY were the slave owners and then THEY were the Jim Crowers and then THEY were the Ku Klux Klanners.

When is the Democrat Party going to apologize for its pro-slavery past?

Liz Cheney did not vote no. So, she either did not vote, or voted with the democrats. Her replacement Elise Stefanik voted with the patriots. McCarthy voted with the democrats. Scalise, like Cheney, is not on the list of 120 who voted no.

Those states are a constant reminder of those men, and what they did, good and bad. If you erase history - which is what they're doing, you soon have no boundaries and no memory of the mistakes that have been made. Then history EASILY repeats itself.
Which is exactly what the founders of slavery, the KKK and Jim Crow - the DEMOCRATS, want.

This was tried 3000 years ago in ancient Egypt. With not much long term success.

I see that my rep, Nancy Mace, has betrayed us again. I’ll remember that next November.

This is an example of why the phrase, "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic" came into being. I don't care what statues these clowns in the Capitol look at. I do care that American taxpayers are paying each and every one of them $179,000.00 per year to spend their time on foolish legislation when this country is on a downward path to the bottom, like a submarine with a breached hull. A curse on all of them.

Congress is so dumb do they really think removing statues will satisfy a certain group of dumb down know nothings about our history. I don't think so but I just know Congress is stupid and proves it everyday.

A movement that opposed overreach in centralized government, per their interpretation of states rights in the Constitution and in the same way that the various states broke from from England, must be discredited and erased from public mind by the centralized government.

I don't see my congressman on the list. He's usually quite conservative. I am disappointed in him.

It is a list of honor. I am glad to see people unapologetically standing up for history. People forget that many who fought for the Confederacy had meaningful accomplishments before and after the war. People also seem to be oblivious to the fact that today's southerners and "flyover country" citizens are about the most rah-rah, flag-waving Americans you will find. Honoring one's ancestors does not make you a traitor. It is especially annoying to be lectured about patriotism by the same liberals who bash America and take a knee during the playing of the National Anthem.

Are not all the statues Democrats? Its obvious Democrats want to remove them in order to hide the truth so they can re-write history.

Why can't we remove all the Democrat statues? I find all of them offensive. Quit naming ships, roads, buildings, and airports after politicians. Please remove the names of Indians from all places. Just because they passed through somewhere chasing buffalo does not mean they own the place. Please remove all items referencing monarchy from everywhere. We fought a war to separate from monarchy. Please remove all graffiti and vulgarity from the walls, sides of buildings, off the subways, and buses. It is offensive and disgusting. Please do not show any more Democrats on tv, not any channel. I cannot bear it.
