BET billionaire Robert Johnson calls for
$14T in reparations—and wants a check too

Original Article

America’s first black billionaire, Robert Johnson, is pushing hard for the government to pay $14 trillion in reparations—and he wants his check just like everyone else. “Reparations would require the entire country to… admit that the result of slavery has been 200 years of systemic racism,” the Black Entertainment Television (BET) founder told Vice. “And for that reason, black folks have been denied $13-15 trillion of wealth and therefore we as a country now must atone by paying black people of all stripes—the rich ones, the poor ones, and the middle—out of our pocket,” Johnson told the outlet.

Comments:

The gift that keeps on giving. “I believe it would be better to export them all to some fertile country with a good climate, which they could have to themselves.” Abraham Lincoln, 1865 State of the Union speech

When I read stuff like this, I am reminded of more than one article I've read about liberal teachers who've willingly got jobs in inner city schools. After a couple of weeks, they were horrified by the apathy, rudeness, disobedience and the noise levels in their classrooms. The teachers in the articles all left after a semester at the most, not only due to the stupidity of the students, but also their violent tendencies. If those kids had faced forward, shut their mouths and listened, they, too, might have learned the skills needed to achieve a decent standard of living. Blacks are standing in their own way. They must be the solution to their own problem.

Haven't we already shelled out billions since the 60's? Until the black community admits their lifestyle choices suck( and that's their fault) nothing will ever change. Slavery has nothing to do with the black on black crime, their seemingly inability to participate in their own education, 80% of your children born out of wedlock, alcohol, drugs, gangs, guns, stealing, having sex with whomever knocks on your door. That is nobody's fault but yours and money WILL NOT change anything.

You see that story about the British dude who had surgery to shape his eyes so he can now declare himself "trans-racial"? He now self-identifies as a Korean. I say, since the precedent has been set, all whites can now officially self-identify as blacks. There--done. Now I want my share of that $14T in reparations!!! BLM baby!!!!

What is most frustrating is the black community was improving steadily in the 1950s. A majority of blacks voted for Eisenhower. The family unit was largely intact and unemployment was falling. When liberals wed black progress with all the welfare and government handout programs in the 1960s, there was an explosion of violence. A majority of blacks have been entrapped by the liberal plantation ever since.

Time to admit defeat and defund the War on Poverty since it has only created more poverty. I am ok with anyone who was once a slave getting reparations from the slaveowner who held them in slavery. Of course both those parties would have to be over 150 years old so I would need to see birth certificates.

I just thought of a possible way to dramatically improve the country. Offer every one of these black haters $250,000 if they will sign away, IRREVOCABLY, their citizenship, and agree to move to Liberia, and NEVER return to the USA. That would clear out a lot of the despicable black haters, and anyone who is sane and sensible can stay and help contribute to the USA in the future.

Blacks (is capital B racist or the other way around - I get confused) in this country consume and have consumed FIFTY TIMES the goods and services as compared to the brethren they left behind. Calculate that with compound interest of 200 years. Subtract it from $14 trillion. Then assess the difference as tax, because that is what it will be. Otherwise, let dead dogs lie. Accept that you cannot nursing a bell. And look to a future together.

It won't be enough. If 14% of America's population of 330 million is black, then that's roughly 46 million people who would receive reparations. Unless I've misplaced some zeros, $14 trillion would mean about $304,000 for every black person, or roughly just over a million dollars for every black family (given 3.5 members, sans the father). That will barely get them adequate housing in CA, or maybe a McMansion in some other parts of the country. In most cases, that won't last them a month - it won't be invested, or put into savings, or a trust. We'll be here again in 20 years with a new generation of racists screaming for their piece of the pie since they weren't around when the last cut was doled out. greyseal

Or, Perhaps his white 50% should pay his 50% black ancestry share. Oh wait, he can’t trace at all back to US slavery, so zip? What a boondoggle that will be so full of fraud! As long as it's paid by everyone who is, and only is, a registered democrat as of 2020 and/or 2021....I agree. Slavery in the US was the tool of members of the democrat party. Republicans and Independents of the day overcame it. Republicans and Independents of the day overcame every racist stage of US history. So, as long as that money is coming directly from everyone who is a registered democrat, and from the democrat party itself, I say go for it. And I add on the "as of 2020 and/or 2021" portion to make sure that we catch all of the liberal trash who'd race out and change their party affiliations to get out of paying their bill.

#30, he is not a descendant of slavery, as his father was born in Kenya. His heritage has zero history associated with slavery in America. He is similar to many others, from Nigeria and other places on the African continent, who have come to America since 1865 who have no connection with slavery, yet, presume they are all lumped in with his figure of 42 million? If you want wealth transfer, then look no further than many inner-cities who have large sections of rentals, or desolate areas. Find a way to transfer that home over to the renter(in good standing) and provide the owner a taxable write-off of 120% of the value, say over 5 years. Win-Win. There are whole sections of Detroit that once used to have homes on the lots, find families who will take on the deed (free and clear), and build a new home there. After all, the land is the valuable part.

Throughout the course of history, all civilizations who were weak and could not pull their own weight either died out or became slaves. First of all #1, it's more like 20 trillion has been shelled out since the mid sixties. Second, it seems the blacks should be giving the U.S. at least ten trillion for all the damage done caused by their riots over the last five decades, including the cost of incarceration for the tens of thousands of black criminals the country has had to house. In addition, any ancestors of white union soldiers who fought and died should be compensated for fighting and dying to free blacks during the Civil War.

So, back in the day, some land owners bought a legal product from Africa on the global market. Many years later, the government decided to make it illegal and forced them to relinquish the legal product without compensation. They did not want to lose their investment, so the land owners said 'no'. The government physically forced them to do so--to the extent of killing many of the land owners and burning down their homes, businesses, etc. The government has yet to date paid reparations to these land owners. So my point is this. If families of slaves (legal product at that time) warrant reparations, shouldn't the families of land owners also be repaid for what they lost?

Public health officials are grappling with how far to go in advising gay men to alter their sexual behavior as the monkeypox virus spreads mostly through their social networks but is a threat to anyone. The World Health Organization chief specifically advised gay men to reduce their number of sexual partners, but other health officials, including the health commissioner in New York City, have warned that abstinence messages don’t work.(Snip)The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in recent days updated its guidance to say anyone—not just gay men—can limit their exposure to monkeypox by limiting sexual partners and avoiding “spaces like back rooms, saunas, sex clubs,

The company which farmed out an ICU nurse with her own 'profound' mental health problems is refusing to comment on how she was vetted for the job, as she is charged with murdering six people in a horror car crash last week. Nicole Linton, 37, is in custody in California on six murder charges for killing a pregnant woman, her boyfriend, the woman's one-year-old son, a man and two other women on August 4.(Snip)Her motive remains unclear but her attorney told a judge yesterday she has a 'profound history' of mental health problems which should have stopped her from getting behind the wheel of a car

FBI agents who raided Donald Trump's Florida resort on Monday were hunting for classified documents relating to nuclear weapons, sources said on Thursday evening. Details emerged soon after Attorney General Merrick Garland appeared before cameras to defend the search and reveal that he had approved the operation at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. Fall-out from the unprecedented search of a former president's residence has dominated the political world ever since Monday and the Justice Department is under increasing pressure to explain its decision. Garland said he could not reveal further details of what prompted the hunt, but sources told the Washington Post it was to do with nuclear weapons.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said Thursday she is “ashamed” that Republicans are questioning the FBI’s credibility after it raided former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago. “I have been ashamed to hear members of my party attacking the integrity of the FBI agents involved with the recent Mar-a-Lago search,” she claimed. “These are sickening comments that put the lives of patriotic public servants at risk.” Cheney’s remarks follow multiple investigations into Trump, including the Russia hoax and two impeachment trials. Before that, the FBI looked the other way in 2016 regarding Hillary Clinton’s 33,000 acid-washed emails.

Former White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said Thursday on CNN’s “New Day” that someone very close to former President Donald Trump must have been the FBI informant. Keilar asked, “This is someone with knowledge inside who told the feds that there was additional material at Mar-a-Lago, directed them where it should be, clearly was concerned enough to tell them this information they should have besides the 15 boxes of material they got in the winter. Does that change your mind? Is that now sufficient when you have someone actually aligned with him drawing the attention of the feds to these documents?”

If Donald Trump was going to run again, we assumed that the media would once again be the former president's largest pool of support, unwittingly, of course, with the nonstop negative coverage that would have only pushed more voters into his corner. Matt Taibbi noted that they're the "kingmakers of suck," arrogant, and more concerned with expounding on their moral superiority than covering the elections properly. Post-Russian collusion hoax, no one believes them, as evidenced by the appalling trust numbers the American public has given this industry over the past five or so years. That all ended last night.

President Joe Biden has been holding a series of secret meetings with historians, policy experts and even former President Bill Clinton, a new report revealed Thursday, as he navigates a variety of problems facing the nation. Biden met with a group of scholars last week on August 4, the same day a fierce lightning storm raged across Washington D.C., where they told him it a perilous moment in modern day political history, the Washington Post reported. The historians compared Biden's moment in history to the 1860 election when Abraham Lincoln warned that a 'house divided against itself cannot stand'

When the FBI raided Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago, it didn’t just senselessly root through the former President’s files, crack open his safe, and snatch up boxes of documents to confiscate for whatever anti-Trump investigation they have going on. Though all that seems to have happened during the banana republic-like raid, the FBI did something else, something even more horrific: it rooted through Melania Trump’s clothes, rifling through her outfits and underwear in what can be interpreted as nothing other than a gross attempt at humiliating the former president and his family.

The push to transition the national road fleet to electric vehicles (EVs) is on and while increasingly popular with buyers, experts in the transportation space are examining potential problems with mass EV adoption. One such issue involves EVs and evacuations during natural disasters. A report from Transportation Research published in ScienceDirect headlined “Can we evacuate from hurricanes with electric vehicles?” found that Florida—which often bears the force of hurricanes—may not have enough power to cope during an evacuation. “If the majority of the evacuating vehicles were EVs, Florida would face a serious challenge in power supply,” the report said.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) on Thursday released her closing ad of the GOP primary, again attacking former President Donald Trump, who won Wyoming with nearly 70 percent of the vote in 2020. Only mentioning her Wyoming opponents once and not by name, Cheney recited for two minutes and 21 seconds a diatribe focusing mostly on Trump instead of the needs of Wyoming voters. Nothing in her ad mentions priorities of Wyoming citizens such as deregulating the administrative state, fighting for federal land management reform, or securing the southern border.

President Biden and his family, including disgraced first son Hunter, are spending their summer vacation at a $20 million beachfront mansion in South Carolina, The Post has learned—and they’re not paying a dime. The president recently asked prominent Democratic donor Maria Allwin—the widow of hedge fund founder James Allwin—if he could stay at her nine-bedroom Kiawah Island estate, a source close to the family told The Post. “They stayed here before and they’re not paying,” the source said. “They’ve never paid. It seems the DOJ has decided to leak an explanation of their decision to use a search warrant in this case. Newsweek just published an exclusive report based on anonymous DOJ sources which claims the FBI had a confidential source at Mar-a-Lago, one who informed them that Trump was hiding documents and even specified where they could be found. The raid on Mar-a-Lago was based largely on information from an FBI confidential human source, one who was able to identify what classified documents former President Trump was still hiding and even the location of those documents, two senior government officials told Newsweek. The irony has been remarkable from the moment the Brittney Griner Saga began in February. Griner, the multimillionaire professional women’s basketball player who became phenomenally wealthy in America, showed complete disdain for her homeland when she was living here. She refused to even enter sporting arenas until after our National Anthem was played. Griner, who is both black and lesbian, objected to the imaginary systemic racism that Democrats and their media fed her. She was vocal in her defiance and suggested that we shouldn’t even be playing the National Anthem before sporting events.
