The novel A Canticle for Leibowitz begins in the deserts of the American Southwest, some centuries after nuclear war devastates the earth. There, generations of Catholic monks copy and preserve the fragments of texts from earlier civilization that they themselves don’t comprehend.
Canticle may have been science fiction but it was inspired by a mix of history and the author’s experience.

I Read A Canticle for Leibowiz decades ago, after it was mentioned in James A. Michener's "Space" (my personal favorite). Well recommended.
As for Fauci, we can only hope that he crashes and burns as publicly and permanently as humanly possible.

Some extremely interesting points. Really one of the most damnibg assessments of the “powerful” I’ve ever read, more CS Lewis than Doran.
However i have no hope that the children or anybody else will wake up. And in any event the “powerful” are looking to replace them with new “citizens” or “slaves.”

We all need to be digging dirt, taking names and building detailed files on ALL of the people and events involved in this coup and attempted destruction of our Republic. At the same time, the guilty must be assured that when the whirlwind comes, and it will, justice will be certain, thorough and unblinking.
Fortunes on both sides will be brought low, and the righteous will face many trials to rebuild our damaged Nation, but they must be faced with courage, wisdom and faith.
These people have attempted, with malice and premeditation, to hijack our Republic and destroy our Repuves, our legacy and our dreams, and the penalties must be meted accordingly.

Sorry... Tablet finger stuttered,
I meant to finish:

FTA: "Many [the Covid generation] are likely to sooner or later rebel against the teachers who taught them that a person is good or evil on the basis of epidermal pigment or genitalia. ...for children often come to hate those who cannot protect them,..."
I've been wondering for some time when the next modern "youth rebellion" will begin. The Roaring Twenties generation got sidelined by the Great Depression and WWII. It was their grandchildren, the Baby Boomers, that picked up where the Jazz Age ended. And, now, the Boomer grandchildren will rebel against the Deep State that scarred their childhood with calculated cunning and insidious lies. I'd like to see the old, wizened leaders of the 60's student riots be hauled out by their progeny and left by the trash dumpster. What goes around, comes around.
I find it interesting that so many futuristic novels employ the use of Catholic monasteries and convents as the vehicles in which knowledge is saved and preserved; reprising their role of the Dark Ages. I think that speaks to mankind's universal understanding that Catholicism will survive every human catastrophe, especially those brought on by ourselves. The gates of hell will not prevail against Christ's Church. Gates are a defensive position, Our Lord means His disciples to be the soldiers on opposition. He expects us to storm those gates without fear, no matter the age in which find ourselves living. Each one of us was made by God for this time; to stand for the truth and testify to Christ Crucified. The Eternal Truths will never fail, never dissolve and never disappoint.

#7, I am a Benedictine Oblate and was at a Mass where the current abbot of Monte Cassino was present. The abbey of Monte Cassino was bombed, but the archives of the Benedictines were saved. I have no doubt that if humanity goes feral, the Benedictines and other people of faith will keep the remnants of learning and civilization until mankind comes to its senses.

Could it be that Fauci overplayed his hand when he said we should wear two masks?
That was sort of like when, in Animal Farm, the pigs chanted 'four legs good, two legs better.'

FTA…
“what we call Man’s power over Nature turns out to be a power exercised by some men over other men with Nature as its instrument.”
Can you say “global warming”?

Walter Miller's classic sci-fi novel may portend a backlash against our own intellectual elite.
No, not elite. Pseudo-elite.

I read A Canticle over thirty years ago and may have to re-read it. Check out the comments after the article -some real fan boys of Fauci out there. Sorry but as I have posted over and over here since this scamdemic started, this isn't the Black Death.

Please. Go back and read Canticle again. It is multi-layered. Each time you read it you will learn more. There is no better chronicle of the Wandering Jew anywhere. And the Hebrew quotes make Ben special. The explanation of the roles in canonization is excellent. Our habit of collecting stuff is superbly shown in the way the Brothers have rounded up fragments and put them in lead boxes.
And the scene where the Scholar enters the cellar and the dynamo starts turning? How did they ever con that much copper to swage into wire?
There is so much more. Especially the moral question of affording easy death to the radiation poisoned. A tricky question, that.

If we had some real justice, we'd have some strong punishment for Fauci. Being responsible for funding the development of a bioweapon that has killed millions - what's the proper punishment?
In other times, we hung docs who worked for the Germans for much less death and harm.

I agree that the lasting damage from the pandemic and the government's response to it is incalculable. They have lied to us and claimed to do it for our own good.
