The Untold History of Juneteenth

Proponents of critical race theory are peddling the falsehood that America’s history is rife with inherent racism, all the way back to the first settlers’ arrival on our shores. This movement has gained so much steam that even a sitting U.S. senator, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), claimed that the “United States didn’t inherit slavery from anybody. We created it.” This statement is not only erroneous, but it also shows how mainstream the lies about our nation’s history have become. Just as revisionist history is wrong to lie about America’s past, its approach to the history behind Juneteenth is equally flawed when compared to historical fact. Celebrated in Texas for years… Barton tells the full story behind “Juneteenth”. The emancipation of slaves in Texas. I didn’t know that. Did you?

We have never needed the truth more than we do now. Informing ourselves is the only way to arm against the fakery coming our way...

Since I first learned of "Juneteenth" I have believed that it should not be a national holiday. I was ambivalent about it being a Texas holiday. I am still ambivalent about it being a Texas holiday, but now that ambivalence is only because I do not live in Texas, and their state holidays are none of my business.

Always remind anyone who brings it up that it is "The day that Republicans freed the Democrats' slaves." Never forget to put the proper context on it. Hat tip to a fine poster here who first pointed this important point out. She knows who she is.

For public safety workers (police/fire/EMS), Juneteenth has a more dire practical meaning, as typically this is the day when black kids and adults drown in Texas lakes and waterways. It's about as bad as a long, holiday weekend body count in Chicago.

Sorry, but they really don't need another Federal holiday to not work, since they amount to 21% of the population and of that 21% about 46% are on welfare...

#4 - spot on. I am sick of this phony azz holiday being used as a vehicle for white guilt and further reparations. I will never recognize this crap no matter how many times I hear about it. This isn't a holiday, and it isn't even worthy of discussion. Slavery ended 155 years ago, and not one living person was ever held as a slave in the US. Period. End of discussion.

Problem is, blacks are still on a plantation. Instead of the plantations in the south, they are now on the democratic marxist plantations of every democratic run city. And just like the old plantations of the south where slaves were never allowed to be educated, the new plantations run by democratic marxists still have the same plan. But you see, today they do it by not allowing school choice, voucher programs and charter schools. Nope, only run down public schools are allowed where 70% of students never graduate high school and most are illiterate in math and english. Thing is, some things change, but never change. Got it.

I’ve only heard of “Juneteenth” relatively recently…and in a negative light. The ‘celebration’ usually degenerates into debauchery and violence. No need to add yet another federal holiday that leads to bad behavior. Nothing holy about this one. Implied with recognizing it that it ‘rights’ or legitimizes a perceived grievance in our history. The blood shed by both sides over 150 years ago is enough recognition.

Nearly a decade ago, on a balmy August morning in Salzburg, I scrolled upon a headline reporting the murder of a Georgetown socialite. “Is it anyone I know?” I wondered before clicking on the story to find out. Lo and behold, it was! Viola Drath, a 91-year-old German-born Georgetown stalwart, had been found dead in her bathroom after an apparent act of foul play. Her second husband, a German immigrant 44 years her junior called Albrecht Gero Muth, soon became the chief suspect after claiming that she had fallen and later, when forensic evidence of strangulation and bludgeoning was discovered, that she had been murdered by sinister foreign agents.

WASHINGTON—Russian oil imports have set a new record in the United States despite the strained relationship between Washington and Moscow. Industry experts believe the Biden administration’s climate policies will make the country more dependent on foreign oil producers. The United States imported record levels of crude oil from Russia in March and is expected to continue importing at high levels in coming months, according to the Western Energy Alliance, a trade association that represents 200 independent natural gas and oil producers in the United States. Imports of crude oil and petroleum products from Russia reached 22.9 million barrels in March, the highest level since August of 2010, according to International Energy Agency

It has been a challenge to navigate through the steady drizzle of media admiration for President Biden’s love-in with the Group of Seven leaders in Europe, but one ga-ga statement, from French President Emmanuel Macron, caught my eye: “I think it’s great to have a U.S. president part of the club, and very willing to cooperate.” The club? What club? The conventional interpretation of Mr. Biden’s trip to Europe is that, contra the ever-belligerent Donald Trump (whom the current president dumped on by name before the global media), the U.S. is rejoining the club of multilateralism, diplo-speak and doing deals, such as the Paris Agreement on climate

The budget President Biden recently submitted to Congress resembles President Obama’s fiscal blueprints in many respects. It taxes too much, spends too much, and with $14.5 trillion in new federal debt, it certainly borrows too much. But Biden’s budget reflects his Democrat predecessor in another aspect: It uses hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicare to pay for (among many other things) an expansion of Obamacare. Spending the Same Money Twice Among its myriad tax increases, the Biden budget includes a line item to “rationalize net investment income and Self-Employment Contributions Act taxes,” applying the 3.8 percent payroll tax to all income received by “high-income” taxpayers.

Last week, the Biden administration gave Iran what it wanted. Without consulting Congress, the administration lifted sanctions on multiple former Iranian officials and businesses, thereby relaxing U.S. pressure on the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism. Republicans on the House Foreign Affairs Committee weren’t amused. On the contrary, they continue to assert that the administration chose not to consult Congress about the lifted sanctions in order to intentionally bypass legislative oversight. These Republicans are now demanding an explanation. The State Department announced the sanctions were lifted “as a result of a verified change in status or behavior on the part of the sanctioned parties”

Newsmax released an article this week that gives voice to further distrust of America’s once-premiere law enforcement agency. The column was based on a series of questions and concerns presented by Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) regarding the still murky details around the January 6th storming of the Capitol building. Two questions lobbed at the FBI are both haunting and disheartening: “What did the FBI know? And when did they know it?” The fact that the agency responsible for investigating the lawlessness of that date is itself under scrutiny is alarming.

An ammunition shortage that began during the coronavirus pandemic and the heated 2020 election reportedly continues to plague manufacturers as Americans remain committed to stockpiling as many guns and as much ammo as possible.“It’s widely known the ammunition shortages continue. There is still a lot of interest in firearms,” Smith & Wesson CEO Mark Smith said this week to Fox Business Network. The data backs his statement. A survey conducted by the market research firm Southwick Associates in April found that, out of 1,800 ammo customers surveyed, 75 percent had already experienced out-of-stock issues this year, down by only 5 percent from the record high recorded in 2020.

Governor Abbott threatened to defund the Texas Legislature after Texas Democrats walked out of the legislative session rather than take a vote on election reform laws. When they broke quorum and shut down the session, Abbott said that if legislators weren’t going to do their jobs, they shouldn’t be paid. Friday Abbott made good on that threat. The elections bill was a top priority for the governor during this year’s session. Texas Democrats decided to cut and run, breaking quorum, instead of voting on Senate Bill 7. They knew that the Republicans had the votes to pass the legislation – both the Texas House and the Texas Senate hold Republican majorities.
