'Larger than life' George Floyd statue
unveiled in N.J.'s largest city

A 700-pound statue of George Floyd now sits in front of Newark City Hall. It will remain there for at least a year, as what city officials say they hope will be a reminder of the impact of the Minnesota man’s death. “George Floyd represents a lot more than himself at this juncture in history,” Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka said during a ceremony Wednesday where the statue was unveiled to the public. “Hopefully when people walk by it and they see it…hopefully it inspires them to become active in the struggles that are happening right here in Newark and right here in New Jersey.”

Comments:

This thing would make a great bookend for the statue of Mayor Marion "Crackhead" Barry they put up in DC. Such a fine tribute to the best The Community has to offer, replacing the many statues of old heroes that were recently pulled down.

Perfect! Drug riddled Newark honors a drug addict who died of an overdose and whose death caused billions of dollars in damage, much like the Newark riots of the late 60's, from which it has never recovered! Great plan Ras!

I'm no fan of Newark, NJ. I grew up in Essex County and remember Newark becoming crime filled in the 50's & 60's. However my father used to say how great it was in the 30's and 40's. What happened to Newark NJ post WW2 is the same thing that's going to happen around the country with all these illegal immigrants. It's going to cause a lot of crime and a break down of civility and standards where ever they go. I despise the Biden Administration for doing this to our country just to get back at Trump. How spiteful, childish and mean-spirited. There are a few beauties in that White House that fit the bill. Btw, I'm sure we'll never hear anything about how Floyd earned his money for those drugs. Not a role model that's for sure.

There is talk that the Democrats are thinking about removing the field of 50 stars from the American flag and instead placing an embroidered likeness of George Floyd on the flag replacing of the 50 star field. To do that the Democrats would have to pass a law through the Congress to get that job done. You have to wonder how many wimpy Congressional Republicans would go along with their Democrat friends?

I have an idea! Make a Plaque to explain the Statue. On the Plaque, list every crime that Floyd committed, the date he committed it, the date that he was convicted, and the sentence that he served. Be SURE to include the Home Invasion Robbery where he held a Pistol to a pregnant lady's belly and threatened her, as his co-criminals ransacked her home. ....THAT will Light a Fire in some Leftist's Backside!

A “tidal wave” of dangerous synthetic drugs is flooding New York City, with methamphetamines and fentanyl pouring over the U.S. southern border at alarming rates and quickly finding their way into local neighborhoods, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency said. This influx of dangerous drugs is having a deadly impact on the streets of New York, according to an April 30 report from local health officials. “Fentanyl is up, a heroin rise is going on in New Year City and a very new wave that hit New York City is meth,” DEA special agent Ray Donovan told The Post. “We’re seizing a lot more meth than ever before.”

California is adopting former Donald Trump's plan to thin out the state's 33 million acres of forests with controlled burns and raking the woodland floor —after state officials essentially laughed off the former president's idea a few years ago. Trump had suggested in 2018 that the Golden State start sweeping its forest floors of debris that often aids in the spread of wildfires. But by Aug. 2020, at the peak of the state's wildfire season, his suggestion became an ultimatum when he withheld wildfire financial aid on the basis of California's failure to clear its forests of dead trees, branches and leaves, Politico reported at the time.
