Conservative commentator Matt Walsh revealed on Saturday that the "family" of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's grandmother will not be accepting the money he raised to repair her home after the New York Democrat blamed former President Donald Trump for blocking aid that was supposed to be sent to Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. Walsh took to Twitter and shared an email he received from the GoFundMe Trust & Safety Team, who informed him that they had been in communications with the "beneficiary's family," who made it clear that "they will not be accepting the funds raised."

Maybe Abuela isn’t big as into handouts as her Nieta AOC.

They want the 'government handout' but won't take private charity? I call BS. And they almost certainly would take it from Sandy, the barmaid.....if she actually cared enough to offer, which she doesn't.

Is there really an abuela? Or is everything about the barmaid a lie? What does the therapist say? Have her sessions been going well? Has she bought additional designer blazers to console her troubled sole? New shoes?

I think it is way past time to cut Puerto Rico loose. Give the PRs their independence and bid them "Adios".

AOC came off looking like a pure evil idiot in this!!! And it's a trap she set 100% for herself!!! First off, the hypocrisy of why AOC let her grandmother live in "squalor" instead of helping her herself. Then letting her grandmother continue to live in "squalor" instead of taking gifts to help by very generous people who had nothing to gain by making contributions!!!

Grandma has more integrity than her granddaughter. AOC can't help lying. There is no junta controlling PR's finances. They have a Governor and all the Cabinet Offices required. Their local income tax is supposed to cover their expenses, like every state in the country. Note, they do not pay Federal Income Tax but Social Security, Disability and Unemployment taxes are deducted and managed by the local government and overseen by the Federal. I know this because I lived there, wrote Payroll applications for these applications at their Treasury Department when I lived therefor 17 years. I have a friend who lives outside of San Juan and works for FEMA. As of last November when we spoke, she was still doling out US taxpayer funds Disaster Funds. If Abuela's house is a wreck it isn't anyone's fault but hers and her family, who apparently thinks its OK to ignore her and go shopping.

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin said Sunday he'll vote against his Democratic colleagues' far-reaching election bill, the For the People Act, because it's too partisan. "It's the wrong piece of legislation to bring our country together and unite our country, and I'm not supporting that because I think it would divide us more. I don't want to be in a country that's divided any further," Manchin said on "Fox News Sunday." "I think there's a lot of great things in that piece of legislation, but there's an awful lot of things that basically don't pertain directly to voting," the senator said.

According to The Washington Post, it's hunting season for cancel culture and its latest targets are "racist" birds. The Post ran an expansive report on Thursday, titled "The racist legacy many birds carry," focused on the "birding community," which apparently is having a difficult debate "about the names of species connected to enslavers, supremacists and grave robbers." "Corina Newsome is a Black ornithologist, as rare as some of the birds she studies," Post environmental justice reporter Darryl Fears began his piece, noting she was hired to "break down barriers" at the Georgia Audubon nature preserve. "But overcoming those barriers will be daunting.

A lot of people have egg on their face for dismissing the COVID-19 lab-leak theory. As ABC News’s Jonathan Karl said this week. “Some things may be true even if Donald Trump said them.” Or if Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton said them. “We still don’t know where coronavirus originated," Cotton said in January 2020. "Could have been a market, a farm, a food processing company. I would note that Wuhan has China’s only biosafety level-four super laboratory that works with the world’s most deadly pathogens to include, yes, coronavirus.”

During America’s first-ever national lockdown, thousands of unelected bureaucrats, as well as federal and state governments, assumed enormous powers not usually accorded them. They picked and chose which businesses could stay open without much rationale. They sent the infected into rest homes occupied by the weak and vulnerable. Their rules of prosecuting those who violated social distancing, sheltering in place, mask-wearing, or violent protesting hinged on political grounds. Their spending bills on “infrastructure” and “health care” were excuses to lard up redistributive entitlements. Conservatives moaned that left-wing agendas were at work beneath the pretenses of saving us from the pandemic. And the giddy Left bragged it was true.

On my tour of America over the last few weeks, I have inevitably spent a certain amount of time watching cable TV in hotel rooms. A recurring story that has cropped up on the news is the border crisis. Many of the images I've seen showed large groups of immigrants being rounded up. Others, which were even more distressing, depicted young children who have simply been abandoned. The total number of people who have come into the U.S. illegally so far this year is unknown. Some estimates claim it is as high as 700,000. Many—perhaps most—voters agree that it is at an unsustainable level. Yet given the Biden administration's reluctance

Facebook’s abrupt decision last week to change its policy of censoring any posts elevating the theory that COVID-19 might have been manmade came as no surprise to Mike Matthys, a tech venture capital executive who has worked in Silicon Valley for several decades. The social media giant only made the about-face once President Biden acknowledged that some facets of the U.S. intelligence community believe that COVID escaped from a lab in Wuhan, China. Biden then announced a 90-day investigation into the virus’s origins. Before that, many Democrats and most members of the media had dismissed the COVID-came-from-a-lab narrative as a crackpot conspiracy theory.

Two distressing facts to remember about President Biden’s new 10-year budget proposal. First, his proposed spending spree would bring the largest federal debt in American history. Second, this budget does not even include additional spending and debt proposals that are coming later. On that first point, President Biden proposes that Washington spend $6 trillion next year — even as the pandemic recedes and the economy moves back towards full employment. Just a few years after federal spending first passed the $4 trillion threshold, President Biden would quickly blow past $6 trillion next year on the way past $8 trillion within a decade. Federal spending next year would exceed $45,000 per
