Washington Post reporter troubled by 'racist
legacy' of some birds

According to The Washington Post, it's hunting season for cancel culture and its latest targets are "racist" birds. The Post ran an expansive report on Thursday, titled "The racist legacy many birds carry," focused on the "birding community," which apparently is having a difficult debate "about the names of species connected to enslavers, supremacists and grave robbers." "Corina Newsome is a Black ornithologist, as rare as some of the birds she studies," Post environmental justice reporter Darryl Fears began his piece, noting she was hired to "break down barriers" at the Georgia Audubon nature preserve. "But overcoming those barriers will be daunting.

Comments:

Must be a slow day at the Post when they can’t come up with enough fake news and have to settle for ridiculous news.

Rename the countries of Niger and Nigeria first. For obvious reasons. Keep picking at that festering infected open wound that is known as racism. That's what you do every time you bring it up. it will never heal, but it can definitely become much worse. Blacks like to claim whites forget the racist past. They haven't forgotten it. They just don't talk about it. Why? Because nothing helps heal it. Some thing cannot be taken back. That certainly applies to racism. Blacks know that, but the ones that keep bringing it up use it as a form of extortion. Its dishonest. Will renaming all those birds fix anything? Nope. Not one thing. But the inevitable demand for more money that will come along with the demand to rename birds is a great perk. Stop the BS.

How about negating "barriers" with COMPETENCE rather than COLOR ... with MERIT as opposed to RACE? WHAT?, you can't demonstrate MERIT? ..... well, come back WHEN YOU CAN.

Plans for $2 billion Washington methanol

Plans for a more than $2 billion Southwest Washington methanol plant are “effectively ended,” according to a Friday statement from Port of Kalama officials, as Northwest Innovation Works — denied a permit by the state this year — will terminate its site lease. The project, years in the planning, suffered a big setback in January when the state Department of Ecology rejected a request for a shoreline permit required to build the plant, which would have been one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest users of natural gas. Northwest Innovation officials, in a statement Friday, said in the aftermath of that permit denial, Washington’s “regulatory environment has become unclear and unpredictable.”

Ocasio-Cortez made headlines earlier this month after posting photos from the Puerto Rico home of her 81-year-old grandmother, or "abuela," Clotilde Rivera, and claiming that the residence remained in disrepair, nearly four years after the hurricane, in part because "Trump blocked relief $ for PR." If you listened solely to Democratic talking points, including the so-called mainstream media, you would be convinced that America is a systemically racist nation and that Republicans are somehow hell bent on disenfranchising large swaths of voters. Both of these notions are patently false. In fact, thanks to sustained long-term efforts, in 2021 it is easier to register and vote now than at any point in American history – no matter what color your skin is. This is a measure progress of which we should all be proud. When the Voting Rights Act was passed in 1965, voter registration and voter turnout

More than 21,000 people have signed a letter calling for U.S. Catholic bishops to cancel a planned vote on whether President Biden should receive communion. Biden, a Catholic, supports abortion rights and has long come under attack from some Catholics over that position. The vote is set to take place next week at a meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. "Pope Francis is clear that mercy, welcome, and pastoral sensitivity should be hallmarks of the church. Follow his pastoral example and listen to your brothers Cardinal Gregory and Bishop McElroy: Stop playing partisan politics with Holy Communion and cancel your planned anti-Biden vote," the petition reads.

For a woman who specialized in badgering political appointees with misleading and ambiguously worded questions when she served in the U.S. Senate, Vice President Kamala Harris sure is a hot mess when it comes to answering even the most straightforward inquiries. Some may call this “ironic.” President Joe Biden’s second in command joined NBC News’s Lester Holt recently to discuss the biggest issues facing the White House, including the chaos at the U.S.-Mexico border. Amazingly, Harris, who is heading up the federal response to the immigration crisis, was caught flat-footed by a very simple question about whether she plans to visit the border. Kamala Harris is playing a historic role in 2021: the nation’s first black, Asian, female vice president to serve as a sacrificial lamb. Like many other women before her, Harris has been tasked with coming in late to clean up a mess made by her boss. Joe Biden probably wouldn’t do too well in a “Jeopardy!” contest, or even on a circle-a-word puzzle, but he’s smart enough to know that when you’ve got a problem you can’t solve, you should grandly announce a plan to deal with it by … fobbing it off on someone else. The announcement by Israeli opposition politicians that they had secured enough seats in the Knesset, or Israeli parliament, to form a coalition to oust sitting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu represents a potential sea change in that country’s politics. Netanyahu is the longest-serving prime minister in Israel’s history — holding that position continuously since 2009, after an earlier stint from 1996 to 1999 — and has deeply imprinted his ideology and leadership style on the country. Many analysts say Netanyahu, who is currently facing indictment for breach of trust, fraud and bribery, has exacerbated deep dysfunctions in Israeli parliamentary politics. Israel has had four separate Knesset elections
