Republicans Tell the Chamber of Commerce
to Pound Sand

Original Article

The old alliance between the Chamber of Commerce and the Republican Party has officially collapsed. Fractures started in 2020 when the Chamber endorsed 23 freshman Democrats for re-election despite their anti-business voting records. Now, the GOP is becoming openly hostile, most recently barring the Chamber’s representatives from hearings. Per The Washington Post, the leadership of the Chamber remains aggressively stubborn about their new strategy. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen exactly what that strategy hopes to accomplish. Tom Wilson, chief executive of the insurance giant Allstate and former chair of the U.S. Chamber board, said the Chamber makes no apologies for its decision.

Fractures between conservatives and the Chamber didn't start in 2020 but during Bush 43's presidency and opened to deep crevasses during Obama's first term. I thought they might swing back during Trump's presidency but they only doubled down on the political-economic philosophy most damaging to free enterprise, hoping to gain zero sum, state-sponsored business, which is very limiting in the long run. Kind of like being convinced back in '82 that Flock of Seagulls, Tears for Fears, and English new wave synth-pop were here to stay.

All the Chamber of Commerce is interested in is flooding the USA with cheap foreign labor, both illegally and legally. The Republicans cannot realign themselves as the political party of common American workers and still cozy up to the Chamber of Commerce.

Back during my days of lobbying (for a business—and only for government to LEAVE US ALONE—I never trusted the US Chamber of Commerce. Corrupt globalists who wanted to USE government to advance its policies. I was proud of the lobbying I did—never corrupt and just wanted to have politicians stay OUT of our business !

New Study Shows COVID-19 Vaccine Side

A new study of COVID-19 vaccine recipients globally should give the public health community a reason to pause on their messaging that everyone needs to be vaccinated regardless of prior infection with the virus. The researchers surveyed slightly more than 2,000 vaccinated individuals who were at least seven days past their first vaccine dose and monitored their reports of side effects and their severity through the vaccination process. They compared the results for recovered patients with a confirmed COVID-19 PCR or antigen test with those who had not had COVID-19. From the study (emphasis mine): People with prior COVID-19 exposure were largely excluded from the vaccine trials

Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas issued an order on Tuesday that will bar local governments and public schools from having mask mandates, the latest in a string of states issuing similar bans. “Texans, not government, should decide their best health practices, which is why masks will not be mandated by public school districts or government entities,” the Republican governor said in a statement. “We can continue to mitigate COVID-19 while defending Texans’ liberty to choose whether or not they mask up.” Under the order, governments or officials trying to institute a mask mandate could face fines up to $1,000 starting Friday.
Biden yields to Putin on Nord Stream 2 pipeline 9 replies

Axios reports that the Biden administration will waive sanctions on the corporate entity and CEO overseeing the construction of Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline into Germany. This means, in all likelihood, that the pipeline will become operational. That’s a huge win for Vladimir Putin. Why? For one thing, as Axios says, Russian gas currently has to pass through Ukraine on its way to Europe. Bypassing Ukraine with a direct pipeline to Germany is an opportunity for Russia to advance its goal of isolating its former client state, now a fledgling democracy, from Western Europe. In addition, the pipeline increases Russian leverage over the rest of Europe.

A conservative group is launching an advertising campaign Tuesday designed to push back against what it sees as "woke capitalism," spending more than $1 million on ads targeting the CEOs of Coca-Cola, American Airlines and Nike. The ads are sharply critical of the CEOs on a range of issues ranging from childhood obesity to allegations of forced labor in China. Organizers say the campaign, which is being mounted by the conservative group Consumers' Research, is designed to change the thinking in corporate boards around the economic and political costs of getting involved in flashpoint issues such as voting rights. "Increasingly we're seeing companies taking their eye off the ball,"
New IEA Net Zero Roadmap Undermines America’s

A new report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) urges investors not to fund new oil, gas or coal projects for the world to reach net-zero emissions by midcentury. It is the starkest warning yet from the world’s leading energy watchdog to curb fossil fuel use. It is also the most irresponsible. The Paris-based agency was founded by leading developed countries in response to the energy crises of the 1970s, but its latest report sows the seeds for the next oil shock. The report, Net-Zero by 2050: A Roadmap for the Global Energy Sector, is just one scenario in a complex policy puzzle that the agency has mapped out.

The world must stop investing in new oil and gas wells in order to hit ambitious climate goals by 2050. That’s a more aggressive stance from influential watchdog, the International Energy Agency, in a report out Tuesday. According to the IEA, there is a narrow but viable pathway for redesigning a global energy sector that produces net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 — the mid-century target adopted by the U.S., the European Union and select others. China, the world’s largest polluter and one that has continued to expand coal use, has tagged 2060 as its goal

SCOTUS announced on May 17 that it would provide a ruling on a controversial abortion ban from the state of Mississippi and hear the case next fall. The Mississippi law – passed in 2018 but blocked by lower courts – banned all abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. LifeSiteNews summed up the threat to Roe, writing that SCOTUS is now set to hear the case “which challenges the ‘viability’

The NCAA made loud proclamations in April that it could pull events from states with limits on transgender athletes. Still, now the college sports governing body has caved and will allow tournaments in states including Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas despite their laws restricting trans athletes. The NCAA sided with transgender athletes only last month, saying they may cancel events in states that aren’t “free of discrimination” against transgender athletes. The NCAA Board of Governors made its announcement as more than two dozen states proposed, debated, and advanced legislation aimed at requiring state schools to ensure that athletes compete only in the category of their birth gender.

When you meditate for a moment on what the left expects honest and decent people to believe, you confront the world of absurdities and lies in which we live. The left demands we believe and announce that men menstruate and give birth, and that it is in no way unfair to girls and women when biological men compete in girls’ and women’s sports. In tens of thousands of American schools, students are brainwashed to believe that America was not founded in 1776 but in 1619, the year the first Africans were brought to North America as indentured servants or slaves. The media went into a frenzy this weekend when the bonny Prince Harry gave a huge harrumph to the First Amendment. On a show appropriately called the "Armchair Expert," Harry declared the First Amendment "bonkers" and expressed frustration about how it protects the media in its "feeding frenzy" over his life. Harry’s criticism of the First Amendment can be dismissed as the unfamiliarity of a royal refugee. However, it is actually far more serious than that. Harry and his American wife Meghan Markle have attacked media rights in England and succeeded under the laws of the United Kingdom. They are now joining a growing anti-free speech movement

For decades engineers have used petroleum to make everyday products. It's still commonly used in everything from rubbers and plastics to chemicals and asphalt. But this useful product comes from crude oil, which is often criticized by activists and experts as harmful to the environment, citing oil spills and fracking incidents. Recent studies from the last decade have shown that petroleum isn't as efficient as some once thought. Now, companies, engineers and scientists aim to replace it with plant-based oils, specifically soybeans. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. recently announced its goal to replace all petroleum-based products with soybean oil by 2040.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A judge has tossed the case against one of 18 people cited in Colorado Springs after a Black Lives Matter protest on Interstate 25, calling it a violation of her free-speech rights. El Paso County Court Senior Judge Stephen Sletta on Wednesday dismissed the lone misdemeanor filed against 21-year-old Molly Avion. In a two-page ruling, he found that the state statute used against her — which makes it illegal to obstruct highways — was overly broad in a way that could chill the exercise of the First Amendment and invite “arbitrary” enforcement.CORRECTIONS*
