Gabriel Johnson, a retired Marine and the co-founder of the Coalition to Save Portland, explains the current "atmosphere" in the city. [SNIP] In July, living only a block away from the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse in downtown Portland, which has become an epicenter of violence in the city, Johnson marched into the chaos carrying his American flag. He told Fox News at the time, "I was being called the N-word by Black people. People were chasing me around with baseball bats." He said he also witnessed a 65-year-old Black veteran attempt to stop the burning of Johnson’s flag, only to be beaten by alleged Black Lives Matter protesters.

Downtown Portland was once a nice area to go in alone or with family. Today it is a unsafe sheethole and the "elected" leaders are making sure they don't offend the terrorists. The cops get pelted with rocks and bottles and when caught the perpetrators might even have charges dropped. Elections have consequences. Summer is approaching with nicer weather not too far in the distant. Expect riots not too far in the distant. They'll find a way to blame Trump for all of this.

All of this going on in Portland and the Mayor there thanking Biden for canceling the help that Trump sent to stop it. It's insane to live in a place like this. Why do people not do something to get rid of this mayor.

These yahoos will cancel anything that Trump did. Too bad Trump didn't insist that the rioters breath in and out normally, because the Democrat idiots would issue an order forbidding them to breath just because Trump required it.

I had a work assignment in Portland for about a week, about 30-35 years ago. My impression at the time was that it was a really nice place. I'm sad to hear all these stories in the last few years..... apparently the Leftists have ruined it.

Goodyear to phase out petroleum-based

For decades engineers have used petroleum to make everyday products. It's still commonly used in everything from rubbers and plastics to chemicals and asphalt. But this useful product comes from crude oil, which is often criticized by activists and experts as harmful to the environment, citing oil spills and fracking incidents. Recent studies from the last decade have shown that petroleum isn't as efficient as some once thought. Now, companies, engineers and scientists aim to replace it with plant-based oils, specifically soybeans. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. recently announced its goal to replace all petroleum-based products with soybean oil by 2040.

The Treasury Department said Monday that 39 million families are set to receive monthly child payments beginning on July 15. The payments are part of President Joe Biden's $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package, which expanded the child tax credit for one year and made it possible to pre-pay the benefits on a monthly basis. Nearly 88% of children are set to receive the benefits without their parents needing to take any additional action. Qualified families will receive a payment of up to $300 per month for each child under 6 and up to $250 per month for children between the ages of 6 and 17.

Remember during the pandemic when we occasionally wondered where the supplies that the federal and state government was supposed to have stockpiled for emergencies like this were, and it turned out Obama and Democrat governors had emptied them out? Even lackluster RINOs like Schwarzenegger had responsibly built up stockpiles of supplies for an emergency that Democrats trashed. Once this became an issue, the media rushed into action, spinning frantically and tossing out denials. [SNIP] The Department of Health and Human Services has diverted more than $2 billion meant for other health initiatives toward covering the cost of caring for unaccompanied immigrant children.

They released the following statement: "Like businesses in our area, in Ohio and across the country, Cedar Point is not immune to hiring challenges. However, we’ve increased wages, enhanced employment incentives like a $500 sign-on bonus and introduced dozens of new full-time, year-round positions. We continue to recruit all year, just as we have in the past, and we will open more park locations as our workforce increases."

The Democratic mayor of Portland, Oregon, said he is 'grateful' to President Joe Biden for rescinding Donald Trump's order allowing an influx of federal agents to help quell riots that gripped the city last summer. The executive order, issued in July, directed agents to protect monuments, statues and federal property as violent mobs ransacked Oregon's largest city following demonstrations sparked by George Floyd's murder. The order is one of several issued by Trump that Biden has now rescinded, prompting Mayor Ted Wheeler to tweet: 'Thankful for the support of the current administration.'

As the body count in hostilities between Israelis and Palestinian rises, so do fears that European Jews will be targeted in a phenomenon that many in the continent call “the import of the conflict.” That’s what happened when Hamas and Israel exchanged blows in 2014, triggering the worst wave of antisemitic violence in Europe since the Holocaust in terms of its prevalence and scope. That summer, dozens of men, most of them from a Muslim background and some of them coming from a large pro-Palestinian rally, besieged a crowded synagogue in Paris. For long minutes, Jewish men held the crowd at bay as the attackers hurled heavy objects at them.
