Florida might as well be known as the sixth borough.New data from the Sunshine State’s Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles offers the latest glimpse of just how many New Yorkers fled south during the COVID-19 pandemic. At least 33,565 New Yorkers exchanged their NY drivers licenses for Florida credentials between September 2020 and March 2021.That’s a 32% increase from the same period the prior year, when 25,370 New York driver’s licenses were traded for Florida ones.Florida officials said a major cause of migration was parents looking to get their kids back in full-time, in-person school.

Damned New Yorker, they'll be ruining Florida, just like they ruined NY.

#2 - you just spelled out my thoughts. They mess up their states and then come down here and screw up Florida. Check out the election map!

Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties are the most corrupt voting counties in the state - so far the Panhandle has been able to overcome them. Yankee Go Home!

You can't blame them for coming. I just wish they would assimilate with the Florida conservatives and leave their democrat/socialist ideology behind!

What a sad state of affairs when people are so toxic other states do not want them to settle there. It’s the democrat mindset that is destroying the country. Why would they be welcomed with open arms. #4. They are like locusts. Determine in your hearts never to vote for any democrat for any office. Keep them away from political power and just pray their numbers don’t increase to the point that they are in the majority. It is not right that these destroyers come and inflict their toxic policies on people who do not want them. Look at what they have done to California and New York. Who in their right mind wants that?

We already have enough New Yorkers here during Snowbird Season. All they do is complain that the Restaurants aren't as good as "Up North" , the Health Care isn't as good as "Up North" and now they will VOTE HERE! We already know what is going to happen. They are going to turn our Beautiful, Republican State BLUE! Then it won't be any different than the states they fled from! Obviously, they aren't smart enough to realize that!

The concern is real. New York and especially NYC has been voting Democrat like forever. If south Florida is any indication, they will destroy the state by turning it into a Democrat dystopia.

South Jersey is not fond of them either. They stripped our stores during shortages, drive aggressively, and are causing housing prices to rise all to get away from the city. At least they can't vote.

I wish our wonderful Gov. DeSantis could somehow bar leftists from infiltrating our state. Our retirement community has many northern transplants and unfortunately, most of them retain their old voting habits. Talking to them you would think New York and Joisey were paradise. Their know-it-all attitude is a real turnoff.

Although I grew up in New York I left the state over ten years ago. I understand the concern of Floridians about us yankees. Whenever someone found out that I was from New York I was immediately questioned about what I would do to the voting record of Florida. I was quick to assure them that I did not live, nor think, like some moronic democrat. I have held conservative values all of my life, even though I lived within 50 miles of the city. I'm glad that we left that corrupt state. I though Mario was bad, his son must have told someone to hold his beer and watch. I'm sorry that I didn't leave sooner. It's nice to live in a free state and have a competent Governor.

I recently had a conversation with a realtor here in Jupiter, Florida. She said that most of her new clients were coming from NY, California, and Seattle. How’s that for a diabolical trifecta?
God help us.

I’m from New England and just bought a home in Florida. I competed wildly in each listing with California’s, New Yorkers and Jerseyites. It’s scared the crap outta me. Can’t image how it feels for true Florida conservatives.

So far, those numbers will not make a significant difference in Florida politics but migration out of New York has ruined a couple of smaller states in the Northeast as well as Pennsylvania. Plenty of NY and NJ license plates within a couple hundred mile radius of that urban jungle in the past year. It's an economic boost to Florida so they will not protest too much in Tallahassee. I moved down there for a brief time for a job in the 80s and it was about $300 to switch over drivers' license and registrations. Those people will also be spending their retirement incomes down there. It's not a good thing for the average citizen but the state benefits. Maybe I'm being selfish but better there than here. At least they are settling in the least desireable counties in the state. North and West Florida is still paradise.

I am a born and bred New Yorker looking to get out. Florida and South Carolina, at present, are our two choices. We have been trying to move out of NY for the last three years, but health problems have prevented that. However, I must tell you that everyone I know moving to Florida and South Carolina and also North Carolina are rock ribbed Trump conservatives. Not Rinos, but Conservatives. And we are all active in conservative politics, working for the Republican party when conservatives are running, and contributing to conservative candidates all over the nation. We have friends who have homes in both Florida and NY and they too are active Trump conservatives. So guys down south, the news isn't all bad.
That said, I too am worried that too many democrats moving south will be bringing their noxious political policies with them and ruining wherever they go. So, y'all southerners, you aren't alone in your concerns about we yankees. But, I can tell you that where ever any of us move to we will continue to fight for conservative values and candidates.

In Colorado, we are seeing a lot of cars traveling on I70 having California, New York, and Illinois license plates. When I was at my local gym recently, I got to talking to a guy who is a real estate broker in my area. He said it's not just the remote learning thing that is driving people out of the dim states. People are fed up with political over-reach, corruption, and the cancel culture that is being forced on them in their home states. Also, since many people are now able to work remotely due to covid, they are buying house everywhere in states of interest to them especially in places where real estate prices are lower. In big towns, small towns, makes no difference. But, unfortunately they are bringing their politics with them.

I'll never forget going over to a women's dorm cafeteria (remember women's dorms?) the second day of college to have breakfast with some female HS friends. And above the low hum of normal polite meal conversation comes this LOUD nasal NYC Edith Bunker screetch..."Hey, Edith why do they have mashed potatoes for breakfast?" in that obnoxious NYC screetch that is somehow their trademark. And snickers all around at the stupid NYC yankee chick who doesn't even know what grits are.
They wear thin awfully fast.

Of course they'd never listen to anyone but themselves, # 9, but just in case, remind them that the highway they drove down here run in both directions ! If they're that dissatisfied down here, then ... Meanwhile, stuff it -- we don't care what you think or how you feel !!

I can blame them for coming, poster #7. We can especially blame those who come to change Florida and other places into what they left in NY. It only takes a few minutes talking to Yankees to know if they've come to join us or to infiltrate us or arrogantly show us how to run things. Just to be safe, I still say, Yankees, go the heck home! We don't move to your states when things go bad; don't move to ours. The leftist kind always move to the most left leaning parts of the South. When I lived in NC, it was Charlotte and the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area. Here in SC, as poster #16 stated, it's Charleston.

But, and a big But, did they leave their NY voting habits in NY? Don't bring them with you if you come to FL. Keep Florida a free state, not a socialist utopia.
