Cedar Point says hiring challenges lead to

Cedar Point guests reported long lines and ride closures opening day weekend. Park-goers took to Twitter to share their complaints about the waits. A spokesperson for Cedar Point said they plan on reaching out to guests that were disappointed with their experience. They released the following statement: "Like businesses in our area, in Ohio and across the country, Cedar Point is not immune to hiring challenges. However, we’ve increased wages, enhanced employment incentives like a $500 sign-on bonus and introduced dozens of new full-time, year-round positions. We continue to recruit all year, just as we have in the past, and we will open more park locations as our workforce increases."

Too early for Cedar Point- it’s a summer time place - still the greatest rides in the world. A great weeks vacation would include Cedar Point, the Football and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame and the Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson.

Don't just automatically assume that a person who used to get minimum wage (or little more) for their labor, is now a "lazy bum" for preferring an unemployment check. Think a little before you moralize and paint with such a broad brush. These people did not choose to lose their jobs (lock-downs did this). The service industry lost big time in the covid BS and now want to get back in the game. That is great, but they will have to provide some incentive to attract workers. The unemployment will end soon enough, but if you want workers before then, you gotta pay more than before. Those who can afford to go to a restaurant to eat out are complaining about slow service (and why don't these lazy bums get back to work?!) need to stop and think about their high moral ground.....minimum wage earners cannot afford more than an occasional trip to the fast food drive thru. Please think before you criticize others less fortunate than you.

#10 is way off base here. When the government is giving you other people’s money and it is more than you were making, there are two problems here. 1) If you need more than minimum wage then gain some skills and quit making it everyone else’s problem and 2) the government needs to stop this. I personally know many people who have no intention of looking for a job while they are on enhanced unemployment. Don’t be a fool.

Every time Joe tries to "help" he creates a bigger problem. Stop the ridiculously high unemployment payments you wooden-headed moron! The newly acquired illegal aliens will soon nab all of the available jobs and the deadbeats on unemployment will collect it forever and vote democrat forever. Thanks for your thoughts, #5, but it's not a pure numbers game, it's a matter of honor, self-respect and doing the right thing. Anybody who has a clear choice between taking charity from the American taxpayers or working a job and chooses the charity is a deadbeat. #3, make sure the lazy hack does not become your daughter's husband because dealing with that situation is far more complex than putting up with a loser boyfriend.

#10, yes, you are selling the story that folks who would rather collect from the government than work, aren't lazy bums. And NO SALE. Anyone who CHOSES to take a government handout rather than working is a lazy bum. You seem so invested in this idea....perhaps that hits too close to home?

Actions have consequences. Pro-crime policies work. [SNIP] Progressives in California in recent years have strengthened property rights—to other people’s property. Shoplifting has essentially been decriminalized, and retailers that apprehend thieves can be sued. The result: Another Walgreens store in San Francisco, the seventh this year, is closing after its shelves were cleared by looters. “All of us knew it was coming,” longtime customer Sebastian Luke told the San Francisco Chronicle. “Whenever we go in there, they always have problems with shoplifters.” Mr. Luke has been posting photos of the shoplifting sprees. “I feel sorry for the clerks, they are regularly being verbally assaulted,” he said.

Palestinians have rallied by the thousands after a cease-fire took effect in the latest Gaza war. The 11-day conflict left more than 200 dead — the vast majority Palestinians — and brought widespread devastation to the already impoverished Gaza Strip. The rocket barrages fired by Gaza's militant Hamas rulers that brought life to a standstill in much of Israel were seen by many Palestinians as a bold response to perceived Israeli abuses in Jerusalem. In turn, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday warned Hamas about coordinating further attacks. He said Israel would not tolerate any further rocket attacks from Hamas and would meet such aggression with a "new level of force."

Chicago's Mayor Lightfoot announced that she was taking a brief break from running the city into ground to limit interviews to "black and brown reporters". The media has rightfully condemned the move, but I have to ask, "Why?" Lightfoot's move is a cynical culture war distraction. Obviously. But she's doing something racist that has become routine in American life. 1. College admissions, employment, and government contracts have long been conditioned on race and skin color. 2. There's been a growing push to oust white authors in literature in favor of minority authors.

If the Democrats want an investigation so badly, then they can include the May 31 protest. Or is an attack on the White House by Black Lives Matter somehow not serious enough to merit an investigation?

For many Americans, the violent clash between Israel and Hamas sparks an understandable sense of having seen it all before. While it’s true there is a long, bloody history between the combatants, the current fighting is unique in ways that make the endgame especially crucial for the Jewish state and the entire region. The most obvious change is that Hamas increased its rocket capacity, both in numbers and range. In previous battles, the relative handful of explosives launched from Gaza were a threat only to Israelis near the border. This time, more than 2,000 rockets and mortars have been fired.

For decades engineers have used petroleum to make everyday products. It's still commonly used in everything from rubbers and plastics to chemicals and asphalt. But this useful product comes from crude oil, which is often criticized by activists and experts as harmful to the environment, citing oil spills and fracking incidents. Recent studies from the last decade have shown that petroleum isn't as efficient as some once thought. Now, companies, engineers and scientists aim to replace it with plant-based oils, specifically soybeans. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. recently announced its goal to replace all petroleum-based products with soybean oil by 2040.

Qualified families will receive a payment of up to $300 per month for each child under 6 and up to $250 per month for children between the ages of 6 and 17.

In order to prevent the unvaccinated from walking around unmasked, Oregon health officials are now creating a caste system by marking the unvaxxed lepers. “Businesses, employers and faith institutions now have the option to adjust their masking guidance to allow fully vaccinated individuals to no longer wear a mask in their establishments,” OHA’s website said.

A critical race studies and ethnic studies professor at the University of Colorado-Boulder says Americans wondering why Black citizens commit anti-Asian hate crimes have an answer: “White supremacy.” The educational watchdog Campus Reform spotlighted the commentary of Jennifer Ho, which preceded President Biden’s newly signed legislation aimed at combatting hate crimes against Asian Americans. “Anti-Asian racism has the same source as anti-Black racism: White supremacy,” Ms. Ho wrote for The Conversation. “So when a Black person attacks an Asian person, the encounter is fueled perhaps by racism, but very specifically by White supremacy. White supremacy does not require a White person to perpetuate it.”

It seems like a crazy urban legend: In China, drivers who have injured pedestrians will sometimes then try to kill them. And yet not only is it true, but it’s also fairly common; security cameras have regularly captured drivers driving back and forth on top of victims to make sure that they are dead. The Chinese language even has an adage for the phenomenon: “It is better to hit to kill than to hit and injure.” In contrast in our country, BLM regularly blocks roads and in most situations, the drivers are the ones that took the hit.
