As the richest man in the world and the first-ever person to pass a net worth of $200 billion, Jeff Bezos has racked up a series of extravagant purchases in his lifetime. Most recently, the billionaire added a $500 million superyacht to that list. The 417-foot-long vessel will span several decks and have three enormous masts — and will also come with its own support yacht that’s outfitted with a helipad, Bloomberg Wealth reported.Further specific details on the mega-yacht, which was ordered before the pandemic and is expected to be ready soon,

I'd rather he spends his money on that stuff than on buying an election like his peer Robot Zuckerberg.

Better he spends it than it being taken away as taxes. If the Government spends it it will likely be spent in a wasteful black hole of useless things that help nobody. If Bezos spends the money himself the money will go to actual THINGS that employ actual people . The evil "Trickle down effect" from Bezos' spending HIS MONEY on things that he wants will help people a lot more than the government.

As long as he spends his money, other people get jobs. What was the problem again?

A 10,000 year clock? And if it stops working around the year 5232, does he get his money back?

Others have the idea, as much as I may disagree with Bezo's politics and worker policies, the man made some of that honestly. Spend it how you please. THAT is how jobs are created and sustained. We can still laugh about the excess, but hey, it's only money. :)

Sorry for the second...#4, I met a Purser from and extremely wealthy Mexican oligarch..a certain california user has probably danced with him, but I deal a few tiers down on the social level.
So he an I were diving in Florida (on the same boat as singles so we teamed up) and he told me a non salacious story or two. One was his being mistreated, not physically, on ship and next weeks pay packet had a substantial bit extra as an I'm sorry. That is how the wealthy avoid looking vulnerable. The other one was quite sweet.. The Owner liked hot dogs...but not ANY hot dog..they have to be Oscar Meyer! He told me of a near panic one time close to departure when the dogs hadn't arrived. He delayed the Captain as long as he could and at the very end, the cases of precious meat arrived....oddly enough, there was a bit extra in his packet again. Owners know what is going on. :)

Just wondering how many homeless he can sleep on this yacht?
Almost sounds like he wants to live in international waters. Would that exempt him from paying taxes?

Fine. But he’s a leftwing loon so, even with all of that, he’s probably miserable. I’ve never met a leftist who wasn’t.

Sorry #8 I don't get it. How many homeless SHOULD sleep on his yacht ? The technically qualified in marine skills with PLENTY of sea time (captains, mates, engineers) live there. Not in the guest cabins though. Do you mean the uneducated addicted homeless ? Give ALL of Bezos' money to Joe Biden and the feds and it will be gone in a week and I'll be back to waiting for the US Mail.

As others have posted, it’s his money. It goes to crew members, pilots, contractors and who only knows how many maids, cooks and landscapers. He does need to remember the Latin phrase: Momento Mori. It comes to all of us. All of Steve Jobs fortune couldn’t save him.

Unlike some other wealthy people, seems like Jeff is spending his money in the USA.
I don't hate the rich, I want to be rich too. That's how capitalism works.
