The Supreme Court rejected the federal government’s effort to move forward with the deportation of a failed refugee claimant who argued he shouldn’t be removed from the United States because official paperwork was incomplete. The Trump administration, in office when the case was argued Nov. 9, 2020, favored deportation in this instance. (Snip)Justice Neil Gorsuch delivered the court’s opinion, in which conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Amy Coney Barrett, joined, along with liberal Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan. Conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh wrote a dissenting opinion that was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito.

Gorsuch, Thomas, Coney-Barrett, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan. Huh. I'm going to be contrarian here and say that Gorsuch, whom I like a great deal, is right. It is about what the law says, not what they think it should say. He was consistent with his decision in with the Indian Tribes and the existing contract with the US Govt. Don't like the law? Change the law. We're not going to write the laws for Congress. As far as the 3 liberal judges, we know what they were trying to accomplish.

Wish everyone would read the article, it really isn't about this case (illegal vs legal) it is about how the law is written and then followed. If I'm reading it correctly, it is actually a big slap at the rampant bureaucracy that has been running this country.

Seems like the Republican Justices split and made a mountain out of a molehill, as chances are the illegal alien respondent could not read the paper anyway and would toss it away, as very few illegal aliens ever show up for removal from the USA in the first place. This will just be another useless complication that Biden and the leftist Democrats will try to use to keep more illegal aliens in the country.

I'm with #6. This about who was affected (clickbait) it was for WHY the ruling was needed. Let's say it went the other way and your local Masters decided to eminent domain your home. Well they just skip the inconvenient parts and say they want it, and take it. You go to court to prevent the taking because they didn't follow the rules or even inform you until it was a done deal...Well, according to the anti of this ruling that wasn't a problem. They could still do it without following all the procedures or paperwork. Think that's an extreme answer? Not even close. When money and corrupt politicians are in the same room, the rules change. #7 and I share the same question. I know that many years ago the SC decided that everyone was covered my the Constitution. I disagree as a matter of contract law. Foreign born individuals are not a party to the Contract known as the US Constitution. Our reps approved it and signed it binding us to it and those natural born to the US. Since an illegal alien,by definition, is not bound by those rules, they should not have it's protections. This includes anchor babies by the same path, parents not bound, children not bound. In this case the alien would have standing, but it should be declared moot because he was not a citizen bound by those rules, but an outlaw.

Military Missteps Allowed Soldier Accused

Army investigators detained a fellow soldier in the killing of Specialist Vanessa Guillén just hours after her remains were found, but a series of missteps allowed the soldier to flee, then fatally shoot himself, according to an Army report released Friday that examined what went wrong in the high-profile murder investigation. The revelation is part of a detailed report into the response to the murder, which has rocked the Army and sparked calls for increased accountability. Among the findings are conclusions that Specialist Guillen was sexually harassed, but not by the soldier who the Army believes killed her, and that the suspected killer had also been accused of unrelated sexual harassment.

For adults under age 65 who are hesitant, reluctance is mainly driven by concerns about safety, side effects and distrust in government, the poll found. It's also largely linked to people's line of work. The bottom line: "Vaccine hesitancy is emerging as a key barrier to ending the COVID-19 pandemic," said lead author Wendy King, associate professor of epidemiology in the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.
