Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, returned to his committee duties on Thursday after recovering from eye surgery due to complications of his combat injuries, saying wounds like his are sometimes the sacrifice of military service. Crenshaw got back in the saddle Thursday, returning to the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s climate change subcommittee for a hearing featuring Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan. The Texas Republican had emergency surgery last month to fix a detached retina that occurred due to the injuries he sustained while serving as a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan.

Rep. Liz Cheney said in an interview with Punchbowl News Thursday that she will stand behind her vote to impeach former President Trump "every day of the week" as she faces multiple primary challengers in her 2022 reelection effort. Cheney, R-Wyo., is the chair of the House Republican conference and has taken heat from many on the right over her vocal condemnation of Trump after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol by a mob of his followers.
That has spurred Trump's wrath in multiple forums and triggered a handful of Republicans to announce primary challenges to her

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, took PolitiFact to task on Tuesday for rating "False" his claim that Republicans did not try to "rig the game" in the Supreme Court, which he has accused Democrats of doing by seeking to expanding its size to 13.
"Lying liars lie & that's what Politi'fact' does every day," Cruz tweeted. "You didn't see Republicans when we had control of the Senate try to rig the game," Cruz is quoted as saying on April 22. "You didn't see us try to pack the court."
In the fact check, PolitiFact concluded that Cruz's claim was "false" because Republicans blocked former President Obama's Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland in 2016

Federal investigators have executed a search warrant on former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, seizing electronic devices, according to a report from the New York Times. The raid on Giuliani, who has served as a personal attorney for former President Donald Trump, comes as federal authorities were investigating whether Giuliani violated the law by lobbying the Trump administration on behalf of Ukrainian officials in 2019.

President Biden said he would be "in trouble" if he continued to take questions from reporters during a rare back-and-forth with the press Tuesday afternoon.
After speaking about new federal health guidelines for mask-wearing for vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals, Biden answered a few shouted questions from gathered reporters at the White House.
"I'm sorry," he said, after listening to questions about his own mask-wearing and a potential summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "This is the last question I'll take, and I'm really gonna be in trouble."

Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif claimed in recently leaked audio that John Kerry, when he was serving as Secretary of State during the Obama administration, informed him of more than 200 Israeli operations in Syria. Kerry has previously been accused of colluding with Iranian leaders to undermine the Trump administration. Kerry is now a part of the Biden administration and has a seat on the National Security Council as the special presidential envoy for climate. Kerry shocked Zarif by revealing that Israel had attacked Iranian targets in Syria more than 200 times, according to leaked audio obtained by The New York Times and other outlets.

Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe is taking action after being permanently banned from Twitter, with plans to go after CNN with a defamation lawsuit expected Monday, he told "Sunday Morning Futures.""There are people on Twitter who are impersonating me who still remain on Twitter," he said. "I will depose [Jack Dorsey] under oath… And tomorrow I will sue CNN."
Project Veritas has already launched a lawsuit against Twitter for defamation in New York after the social media giant removed the founder for exposing CNN for manipulating political events. Twitter claimed O'Keefe was removed from the platform for operating fake accounts, which he denied.

The final day of the Derek Chauvin trial in Minneapolis seemed at times to be a remake of the 1981 neo-noir film, “True Confessions.” Call it “True Concessions.” Judge Peter Cahill acknowledged that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) may have given the defense a basis to overturn any conviction, while prosecutors seemed to drive a stake through the heart of their cases against three other officers charged in the death of George Floyd. And it all played out on live television. Rep. Waters ignited a firestorm of controversy by flying to Minnesota to tell protesters to remain in the streets and fight for “justice,” to be “more confrontational,”

The Republican Party's campaign arm launched a new website this week calling on more than two dozen House Democrats, many from highly competitive districts, to return campaign contributions from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The website — named "Socialist Give Back" — lists 26 House Democrats who received donations from Ocasio-Cortez, accusing them of supporting some of their party's most liberal policies. "Every vulnerable Democrat who refuses to give back donations from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is complicit in her socialist agenda that wants to defund the police, open our borders and raise taxes," Michael McAdams, a spokesperson for the National Republican Congressional Committee, said in a statement to Fox News.

A lawyer defending Derek Chauvin, who is on trial for the death of George Floyd, cited Rep. Maxine Waters’, D-Calif., comments to Minnesota protesters over the weekend in court on Monday. "And now that we have [a] U.S. representative … threatening acts of violence in relation to this specific case, it's it's mind boggling to me to have," Attorney Eric Nelson said, as he attempted to argue that the jury may have been unduly influenced by external factors. Judge Peter Cahill said that he wished elected officials would stop referencing the case "especially in a manner that is disrespectful
