The National Guard has been called out to control rioting in the wake of a police shooting in the northern Minneapolis lower-middle-class suburb of Brooklyn Center (whose Caucasian population is 44.5% according to Census Bureau estimates). Rioters behaved with a hair trigger response, with at least one shot fired into the police station, and looting reported locally and many miles distant (snip) The jurors in the trial of former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin are not being sequestered and so are almost certainly aware of the riots, making it very difficult for them to deliver any not guilty verdict

Change of venue was the only way Chauvin could have had anything close to a fair trial, but now there is no way he gets a fair trial, and in fact he is already convicted. His only hope is on appeals.

A crummy deodorizer hanging from the mirror rates a traffic stop? Probably only for a black driver. Cops really need to use a bit more discretion in this day and age.

It's going to be an OJ jury. White man guilty, black man not guilty no matter the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

The goal of the trial was never ever to have a 'fair' trial. The goal has always been Just-Us and the rioters and looters will see that mob Just-Us is served.Any moron except for the moron judge knows that a fair trial is impossible. The trial should have been moved from day one.

I’d say the judge should declare a mistrial, and as reefdriver indicates, a change in venue, perhaps to a rural great plains state, is the only hope for giving Chauvin a fair trial.

The hanging deodorizer was only a pretext. Cops use minor traffic violations as an investigatory tool in hopes of finding drugs or weapons or large amounts of cash or, as in this case, active warrants. What is really scary is that the cops shot at the car as the driver was fleeing. Clearly an offense more suitable for prosecution than anything George Chauvin did to George Floyd.
Remember the big killing spree in the Midland-Odessa, Texas, area was precipitated by a State Trooper who pulled over a guy who was already emotionally agitated for not signalling a lane change. It cost the cop her life.

I'm pretty sure that a fair trial has been an impossibility for some time.
#2, If the deodorizer story proves to be true I'd question the priorities of the officers involved. I believe the source of that assertion was the victim's own mother so let's give things a little time.

If Chauvin is not getting a fair trial, then we are ALL being railroaded. The only unknown is when it will be your turn. Read item about how Jan 6 protestors are being mentally and physically tortured in custody. A lot more died on the night of Nov 3/4 than our right to choose our government. It is that serious. Don't fail to tell skeptics this bluntly and to their faces. It is not enough but a beginning.

I guess the daily political cartoon here at Lucianne is out of date, it isn't a choice: riots OR a guilty verdict.
It's both.
The weather began to heat up and riot-time returned to Minneapolis.

What was Daunte Wrights warrent for? I cannot find it anywhere on the internet. Jay walking or beating his Ho girlfriend or maybe playing the Knockout Game on some elderly person? Is he another Gentle Giant or Family man??? I cant seem to remember any of my buddies or me having outstanding warrants on us at 20 years old.

A fair trial would be no trial at all. Chauvin did nothing wrong. This is nothing but political hate from the left. I hope the left pays for it.

Hopefully, at least one juror will see the truth and refuse to vote to convict. In a sane world, all twelve would vote for acquittal, but given the literal insanity level which seems to be the norm around Minnie-Apples, that seems pretty iffy.

#11, seems like I read the warrant was 'firearms violation' and 'assault', but can't find it today, probably the Enemedia is doing their best to make this gang banger look like a choir boy.
Apparently he tried to back over the officer after being told to get out of his vehicle, and the officer shot to stop the vehicle from running over him. It is reported that the officer was injured.
BE CERTAIN that the story being told now is a LIE by both the family and the Enemedia with the goal of making the police look bad for the Enemedia, and the goal of making a bunch of money for the family. Pay off $27 million for a junkie who killed himself and all the rest of the parents of low life kids will be hoping for the big bonanza, too.
