A massive fire engulfed a nursing home facility in New York during the early morning hours on Tuesday and video posted online showed that the building had at least partially collapsed. “One firefighter is missing and residents are unaccounted for in a fire at a residential senior center in New York City’s northern suburbs,” CNN reported. “It wasn’t immediately clear how many residents couldn’t be located amid the blaze in Spring Valley, Trooper Steven Nevel of New York State Police’s Troop F said around 4 a.m. ET.”“Numerous injuries from both firefighters and residents were reported,”

This is not a problem. No big deal. Old people are old. Just let them go.
That is why COVID victims were put in the nursing homes in the first place.
They won't have any more children; they are not needed.
Forget about it.

Nursing homes don't seem to be a very safe place in NY.

Granted, I haven't read the whole article but no smoke alarms? No sprinkler systems? No fire suppression systems? Those poor people.

Horrible, devastating. As if 15,000 elderly deaths from COVID-19 isn't terrible enough. I wonder what the investigation will reveal.

Multi-story buildings are required to have fire suppression systems, i.e sprinklers. Either they didn't work, or this is a very old structure that hadn't been brought up to code. That's the first thing that I would be looking at.

My 47 year old daughter died in a house fire a few years ago, mainly because she was barely ambulatory and used oxygen in the room where the fire started. I'm sure too many of the poor residents were in the same situation. One can only hope that those who died died because of smoke inhalation like my daughter did. Hopefully, no one died but I'm afraid we can't count on that. Prayers for them and their families.

It's fine. It's just Coma who has now advanced to even more evil means for eliminating NY's seniors.

Very strange timing. I'm not suggesting design, however. But won't Cuomo be in a position to comment on this publicly? And what if he doesn't? What if he is hiding while everyone else--the fire department, the police department, the fire martial, the mayor--are speaking to the press, while Cuomo is invisible? And the public will be reminded once again of the safety of nursing homes in New York.
Cuomo didn't need this to happen right now. But it did. We live in strange times.

Curious if nursing home lobbyists (i.e., sizable Cuomo contributors) had sought and obtained safety codes that were less stringent (i.e. costly), or even if inspectors had looked the other way

#16; You can bet Cuomo was out of town when that started.
I hope brave person looks into the ownership and management of that nursing home. I gave up believing in coincidence back in the Clinton years.

I’m betting Cuomo will next tell us that all of NY Health Dept records on nursing home COVID deaths were unfortunately stored at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Spring Valley

#9 I am so sorry for your loss. The same almost happen to my mother.
Smoking and oxygen do not go together. It probably happens more than we think.
If only Washington cared as much for the elderly and disabled as illegals and spent the money on them.
