Two weeks ago, when the thermometer plunged below 20 and indoor dining was still off-limits in the city, intrepid New Yorkers continued to cling to vestiges of their social lives. On East 60th street, patrons at the once buzzy Le Bilboquet were huddled in outdoor cubbies, wearing hats and scarves while nibbling on Cajun chicken and sipping Bordeaux. One block up, 10 tables at clubby La Goulue struggled to share four heaters while diners gripped bowls of onion soup for extra warmth. But just a short flight away — in tony Palm Beach, Fla., where La Goulue recently opened an outpost

Whether one calls it a crisis or a challenge, the U.S.-Mexico border has become a man-made disaster hand-crafted by President Joe Biden. Candidate Biden promised illegal aliens red-carpet treatment, amnesty, and citizenship.
Message: Received.
The Customs and Border Protection’s encounters with single adults on the southern frontier climbed 157 percent in January 2021 versus January 2020. CBP confronted 100,441 illegals last month, up 97 percent from February 2020, and the highest level of such run-ins in 15 Februaries, according to Reuters. This included 9,000 unaccompanied children; 3,000 kids were under 12.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell threatened on Tuesday to turn the Senate into a "100-car pileup" and block "even the most basic aspects" of its business if Democrats get rid of the legislative filibuster as progressives are asking.
McConnell, R-Ky., made the comments in a floor speech on Tuesday that was similar to others he's previously made during times of increased chatter about getting rid of the filibuster.
"So let me say this very clearly for all 99 of my colleagues. Nobody serving in this chamber can even begin to imagine what a completely scorched-earth Senate would look like," McConnell said.

The Alaska Republican Party vows to "recruit" a challenger to Sen. Lisa Murkowski if she runs for reelection next year, but don't expect the Republican National Committee (RNC) or the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) to join the effort against the state's senior senator.
National party chair Ronna McDaniel emphasized to Fox News in January that "the RNC stays neutral in primaries for a very good reason. Because somebody has to be there to pick up the pieces of difficult primaries and help bring the party back together."

The Washington Post made a massive correction Monday to a January report about a phone call between then-President Donald Trump and Georgia elections investigator Frances Watson, admitting it wrongly attributed multiple quotes to Trump based on an anonymous source.
The Post initially reported Trump had told an official working in Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's office to "find the fraud" in the state, which he lost narrowly to Joe Biden, and that she would be a "national hero" if she did.
However, a newly emerged recording of the Dec. 23 call found he didn't use those words.

President Biden is reportedly planning to include the first major tax hike in close to 30 years in the next economic spending bill set to follow his $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package.
The next spending initiative — which is expected to be even bigger, costing as much as $4 trillion — won't rely on just government debt as a funding source and could include an increase in both the corporate tax rate and the individual rate for high-income earners, according to Bloomberg News, citing a person familiar with the matter. The planned changes include: raising the corporate tax rate to 28% from 21%, raising the income tax rate

Mexico continues to struggle with the sharply rising number of migrants turned away at the U.S. southern border, with many claiming they were "promised" by President Biden that they could enter the country.
The increased focus on the border situation has brought journalists to Texas, where the problem is most severe: Migrant camps litter the border, with camps of dozens or hundreds of people who are either waiting to enter the U.S. or were just turned back.
New York Times reporters witnessed a number of incidents where migrants were turned away from the border. Most were in tears, with some saying, "Biden promised us!" as they returned to Mexico.

The Biden administration is facing what it admits is an "overwhelming" number of migrants at the southern border while scrambling to construct new facilities to hold child migrants -- but it is doggedly refusing to describe the situation as a "crisis."
Agents in the Rio Grande Valley sector in Texas are encountering 1,500 migrants a day, overwhelming the sector -- and Fox News on Saturday obtained exclusive photographs of a temporary outdoor processing site there in Mission, Texas.

A group of United Kingdom-based newspapers accused CBS of taking headlines out of context during Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's highly publicized tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey during a "misleading montage" designed to deceive viewers.
Associated Newspapers, publishers of Mail Online, the Daily Mail and The Mail On Sunday, sent a scathing letter to CBS accusing the network of presenting doctored and out-of-context images as headlines during the "Oprah with Meghan and Harry" special Sunday night.

Buckingham Palace issued a statement regarding the explosive interview between Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey on Sunday.
"The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan," a statement from the Palace provided to Fox News reads. "The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately."

Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Thursday she didn't need to a "ton of circling back" with reporters because of the access afforded her by former President Donald Trump, in a reference to successor Jen Psaki's go-to line when she can't directly answer questions.
Reacting to a "Fox & Friends" montage of Psaki saying she would "circle back" with various reporters during her six weeks with the Biden White House, McEnany said she had the advantage of knowing where Trump stood on issues. "I wish Jen Psaki all the best, it is a very hard job but that being said, we took great pains in our administration

In 2012, Attorney General Eric Holder appeared before at Northwestern University Law School to announce President Obama’s “kill list” policy, under which he reserved the right to unilaterally order the death of any American deemed an imminent threat. After all, Holder explained, “the Constitution guarantees due process, not judicial process.” The response was as chilling as the message: The audience of judges, lawyers and law students applauded an attorney general who just told them that any of them could be killed tomorrow on the president’s order.
Some of us denounced the "kill list" policy, which foreshadowed what has become a campaign against due process.
