A Baltimore high school student failed all but three classes over four years and almost graduated near the top half of his class with a 0.13 GPA, according to a local report.
Tiffany France, the mother of the failing student, thought her son would be receiving his diploma from Augusta Fells Savage Institute of Visual Arts in June. However, she was surprised to discover that he is being sent back to the ninth grade to start over.
"He's stressed, and I am, too. I told him I'm probably going to start crying," France told FOX 45 Baltimore.

Pray for our country. These are our future voters, left behind by Teachers Unions who could care less.

This is why there should be no union for teachers. Teachers should perform to expectations or get fired. Even there, the mother failed to follow up on her son’s status for far too long. She is as responsible as the teachers for his lack of progress.

Sad the Mother didn’t pay attention sooner...
Kimberly Klacik would have helped, for sure, not just this one student, but all of the District. Persrvere!

If a kid with a 0.13 GPA ranks near the middle of the class, that speaks volumes about the school. Half the class is worse than him. Its a failed school that should shutdown, and reopened under new management. Add to that, where are the parents?

Somehow the mother missed all the phone calls she received (sent automatically when a student misses school). She also never received any of the written notices the school sent regarding her son's progress. She also never attended a parent teacher conference. Says she tried to but it didn't work out.
It is common in these schools for 0 parents to show up at conferences. I am not saying the school is without fault. But jeepers creepers, this so-called parent has been missing in action.

I think all schools do this. I talked to a HS teacher who told me she always passes students who fail exams just to get rid of them.

My husband looked up the wages of the teachers at this HS and they are getting paid $91K a year. The schools are nothing but a way for the DNC to make money, they are a money laundry scheme. Meanwhile, Biden is looking to give schools $260 Billion with this stupid "covid bill" and we all know that money is going to end up the DNC. It's what THEY do!

She has to be pretty stupid not to know her son is. Teachers have trouble maintaining control of classes because the administrations can't back them up due in part that individual behavior is painted as picking on a group. If the parents want better education for their children they need to get more involved in the classroom and make sure the learning environment is controlled and safe.

Close to my GPA when I quit Iowa! I quit to late and took all F’s with band as an exception! Then I went to work and never looked back! Never held me back from getting any job I wanted! College is a scam and employers should stop requiring it for jobs! It means nothing! I’ve worked with many PHD’s and they aren’t THAT much better than a hard working, bright, innovative employee who owns his/her career! College grads today are professional victims!

This what I heard in my head while reading this pathetic egg donor's mewling, "Hey, I did my job. Some guy when UGGGG!, I incubated him then pushed him out my rabbit hole. I did my part. Everything that happened after they cut the cord is someone else's fault."
The school systems are shite, there is no doubt. But there is no freaking way he went all those years a no one said anything. She's a loser who incubated a loser. Wild animals have more concern that most people who do this, regardless of race or economic condition. She has reaped what she has sown.

I have this discussion every year with parents, especially transfers. Most are surprised that there’s an attendance requirement. Others are surprised that, in high school, class ranking is done by credits. (I’m in Texas.)
We have had out of state students come in as 11th and 12th grade students with as few as 3 credits. We immediately label them as 9th graders. Drama, cursing and yelling occurs. Sorry, high school is not a push through, you do have to earn it.
Sadly, it appears that this is the first time that anyone has told parents about standards, attendance and responsibilities of the parent and student.

With the socialists in charge of education, expect this to be the NEW STANDARD
Can our nation survive with people getting diplomas merely for sticking it out for four years of high school????
PRAY HARD that some standard of excellence would be expected and that this would never be acceptable!

When I was in high school, I was a grader for one of my teachers. He gave weekly 10-point quizzes that I graded. The quizzes were given the same day of every week, and covered what we'd studied for the previous week. There was one kid who never got even one answer right, but the teacher told me to give him a
"D" on every test. When I asked why, the teacher said, "because I don't want to deal with him again next year."

"At Augusta Fells Savage Institute, we tap into students’ potential and help them succeed academically, artistically, socially, and emotionally. Our mission is to prepare 21st-century leaders and learners in an arts-focused learning community where student achievement is the priority."
That may be the "mission"...and the school is failing miserably. The parent failed more miserably. And where was the vaunted "community"? That idyllic village that raises these kids? It was absent, totally absent. Young unnamed son failed 22 classes and was late or absent 272 days over his first three years of high school. Mom didn't notice. Son probably learned how to tag buildings with "BLM" or "Crips" while she wasn't looking...those visual arts. Social justice begins at home.

Parent - Teacher conferences? might have helped. The mother should have a better handle on what is going on with her kids. But the school has a problem with 'soft bigotry of low expectations.'

What do you expect as in accordance with “woke” teaching, if a Black kid says that 2+2=44, that answer is to be respected and considered to be correct. When such a student graduates and is given a job as a construction engineer in the years ahead, when the buildings and bridges that student designs comes tumbling down “woke” teaching will have no explanation.
