America is currently engaged in a regime-level struggle that will preserve or destroy the purpose that has defined it. On one side stands the American way of life, characterized by republican self-government and the habits of mind and character necessary to sustain it. On the other side stands identity politics, which demands the perpetual punishment and humiliation of so-called oppressor groups combined with the unquestioned rule of the so-called marginalized. These two regimes are in conflict and cannot coexist.

Just go back to William Buckley's conservatism.

Before anything can emerge Mitch McConnell needs to go far far away. He was against Reagan, the TEA Party, totally a Deep State Swamp Creature never Trumper, and has now sworn to only support "electable' candidates. Meaning if they are backing Trump and are conservatives, they won't stand a chance if he has anything to do with it. In other words, Mitch is a total dictator thinking he runs everything in the country when it comes to electing candidates. States have nothing to say about it. It's time to Ditch Mitch if a new conservatism is to emerge. Flush the commode of the GOP.

I think we need an organization of conservative states. Not a formal political body, but an organization designed to coordinate, promote and share strategies that states can use individually or collectively, to resist federal intrusion and overreach and preserve freedom for their citizens. There are some state governors such as DeSantis and Noem, and some state AGs (such as Paxton maybe?) who are clear leaders, and then there are other more or less milquetoast Republican office holders who prefer not to rock the boat. It would be more powerful to join forces so that every time Biden signs an overreaching EO he is met with litigation from a multitude of states in different courts circuits. There is ALEC, but I don't know much about them. We cannot fight the feds as individuals. Our country is organized as the United STATES, conservative states hold the key to pushing back, but right now they are about as well organized as a herd of cats.

I've listened to the ying and yang of conservatism since Goldwater and Ronald Reagans defining speech. Yet not until Donald Trump came down the elevator did the symbol of conservatism jell for millions of Americans. Talk till the cows come home, nothing works like when something works and Donald Trump put the whole staggering pandoras box of ideas together and made it all work......for America and the American people. If the so called seers of political think leave the essential of Donald Trump out of their treatise it is doa.

Good article, but be careful not to overthink this.
The foundation of the “party” is there in the personage of The President.
More than a rebuilding, IMHO, we need a PURGE of traitors and malthinkers (I.e., Turtle, Mutt, maybe even Miss Lindsey).
75m + of us are in lockstep. And we have a leader.
The battle can be won. In increments. But won, nonetheless.

As long as Mitch and all his Uniparty buddies, which is at least 2/3 of Senators with an R behind their names, are NOT part of it and Trump is in charge....SURE. Bring in some tried and true folks like Sen. Kennedy, Gov. DeSantis, and former ambassador Grenell, and I'll support them.
Bring in Mitch, Romney, and a host of other worthless, spineless, useless cowards from the Uniparty, and I'm staying home. I played that "hold your nose, at least he's a Republican" for all my life. NO MORE.

DJT is a moderate in some ways, closer to JFK (minus Kennedy's war like impulses) than Goldwater's conservatism.

While this is a national problem, it is also a local issue. If the Republicans are the "conservative" party what are its principles these days? We saw in the past months that honesty isn't one of them at the national level, and at least six states who stood by while an election was apparently stolen. Those six legislatures failed the American people, and one wonders why none of the dogs barked that night.
Folks want a new second party. I agree with them. Those who want to start from scratch had better take a hard look at the Tea Party movement, for a good example, the '92/'96 Perot Reform party, and Teddy Roosevelt's Bullmoose of 1912. The lessons of history...

I concur overwhelmingly with what five said. Trump did it. We need Trump. We need an unbiased media, then onto the schools and universities.

Yes! Somebody finally gets it! You cannot accommodate a force whose sole purpose is your demise.
And yes! Somebody is finally talking about a fundamental Constitutional principle that is entirely ignored -- equal protection. They also need to mention its twin principle, Due Process. These are the kryptonite that kills identity politics. You can't have identity politics under a Constitution that judges you on your individual behavior.

We need to go back to God of the Bible and not the gods of man. Where right is right and wrong is wrong. Today we are told that good is now bad and bad is now good. The Truth can only be found in God's Word. Only when we return to God and seek Him and His will, can we overtake this evilness that has overtaken our Country.

Unfortunately, DJT was an aberration. 2020 election fraud is not an opinion. There is direct evidence of it, as well as eyewitness accounts. But an institutionalized Deep-State DC would not and will not be denied (we see that in Turtle-Boy, Pelousy, and Schummer), and the Orwellian State media will never change (we see that in the absurd pansy Lemon on CNN).
As a prescient L.Dotter recently posted: The Civil War has already started. More or less confined to the political theater...for now.
