Trump defense team bounces back

The defense of Donald Trump at his impeachment trial got off to a rocky start earlier this week. There’s no denying that.
Today, however, the defense team came back strong in its closing argument. Trump’s lawyers used only about two and half hours of their allotted 16 to respond to the House managers’ case. That was enough to demolish it and to show the dishonesty of the managers’ presentation.

U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney ironically took to Twitter on Thursday to complain about President Biden’s energy policies after she had previously voted to impeach former President Trump, who was pro-energy. Her stance against Trump is exceedingly unpopular in her home state of Wyoming where the chairman of the Carbon County Republican Party is stating that her move to impeach Trump “will have far-reaching implications, including Cheney’s possible loss in her next re-election bid.” After Cheney betrayed Trump supporters by voting to impeach him, it is no surprise to see the reaction to her plight is highly negative.

Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt resigned from the embattled anti-Trump organization Friday night, claiming he did so to "make room for the appointment of a female board member as the first step to reform and professionalize the Lincoln Project."
"Presently, the Lincoln Project is made up of four middle-aged white men. That composition does not reflect our nation, nor our movement. I am resigning my seat on the Lincoln Project board to make room for the appointment of a female board member as the first step to reform and professionalize the Lincoln Project," Schmidt said in a statement.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention called to reopen schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, in new guidelines released on Friday.
The guidelines were updated as many local governments have struggled to return students to in-person learning, almost a year after the coronavirus pandemic forced schools across the U.S. to shutter their doors. San Francisco is suing the city’s own Board of Education to reopen its public schools, while Chicago reached a deal with the city teachers’ union to reopen schools in March after weeks of negotiations.

Six skeletons have been recovered from the wreck Captain 'Black Sam' Bellamy's pirate ship, the Whydah, which sank more than 300 years ago in waters off New England in 1717.
