Biden's Misery Index

Original Article

Posted By: Magnante, 2/12/2021 4:56:25 AM

In the late 1970s, the U.S. experienced an economic condition known as stagflation. This meant the economy was not growing, yet prices were rapidly rising. One measure of just how bad things were was the Misery Index. This was found by adding the inflation rate to the unemployment rate. Biden’s stated economic policies will significantly raise the Misery Index. (snip) Stagflation and the resulting high misery index could return if Biden’s stated economic policies are fully enacted. The reason will be very simple: business will not be able to respond to market conditions by expanding output. Business will be forced to respond by raising prices.

I have previously predicted just that. I expect increased inflation and increased unemployment as a result of President Biden's policies.

Back to the days of Carter, I can't wait. I remember driving to work and wondering if I was going to have a job the next day. It was such a wonderful time. At this point in life I don't have to worry about having a job, however, I have family members, children and grandchildren, that do.

What was the mortgage interest rate back then? 17%? Not to mention gas lines. Does the left really want to go back to that?

Poor President Carter! The one thing he was famous for has been co-opted by the Poseur-in-Chief. Funny how it is only the Democrats who produce a Misery Index.

I was just married both of us were working and waiting in gasoline lines. I found a fixed mortgage rate of 8% for the new home we built. Others at the time were quick to finish construction before skyrocketing rates. I believe some were higher than 12%. The bank wanted me to refinance at a lower variable rate which could go up as high as 12% they were losing money on me. I did have money markets at 10 and 12%. I would spit up accounts according to months so I could move them to higher rates I had money market savings passbooks like decks of cards. I remember silly Carter in his sweater in the White House telling us to use our thermostats wisely in the cold and heat. Don't get me started on gasoline lines and 5 gallons per car rationing. Yes I remember the 'misery index' all to well. It seems before my demise I might witness this again it's so ashamed because the years with President Trump were so great.

Knowing the rank stupidity of Democrat voters, Basement Biden didn't bother campaigning for this gig, so this projected mayhem to America could only be imagined -- that, or he could have lied about it (assuming he even knew).

The misery index will be very educational for the democratic party, and all their supporters. Especially the new young well-informed (NOT) leftist voters. Unfortunately we will all have to experience the misery. Except the very wealthy self serving oligarchs, of course.

CNN’s on again-on again war (that’s not a typo – it never ends) against Fox News is getting hotter, most likely because CNN is once again seriously trailing Fox News in the ratings. The “attack” on the Capitol started well before then President Trump finished his speech at the rally at The Ellipse. This attack was no spontaneous event as alleged by Democrats, the Media, and the Radical Left. It is evident to any police officer who has been on a police line this attack was preplanned when coupled with the intelligence compiled by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) and other agencies. From the videos, this is self-evident, e.g., coordination, tactics in engaging the police lines, hand signals, gas masks, bear spray, goggles, helmets, knee pads, improvised weapons, and milk to neutralize crowd control gasses.

The answer to that question may be in his absurd speech on Thursday when he said “we may have to reinstate the lockdown restrictions” if… If what? What if the migrants the Biden Administration is allowing to come across the southern border without being tested, even if showing symptoms, then given bus tickets to any American city they hope to reach, is a grand plan to spread this flu throughout the country again in order to reinstate all the unconstitutional restrictions to which millions of Americans willingly submitted? I’ve learned that, if I apply my natural cynicism and pessimism to anything that originated with leftists, I will almost invariably correctly predict the future. Nevertheless, there’s a small part of me that always hopes that things will get better. Perhaps that’s why I’m reading a lot into three reports on Friday about people pushing back on cancel culture. The first story involves Piers Morgan, the British commentator. (snip) While 41,000 may have whined about Morgan, over 220,000 people had petitioned for Morgan to be returned to Good Morning Britain. Sir Alexander Tytler was a Scottish advocate, judge, writer, and historian. Lord Tytler lived from 1747 until 1813; about the time of Washington, Adams, and Jefferson in America. Tytler was a professor at the University of Edinburgh. One of Tytler's most influential and proverbial historical writings was about the lifespan of countries operating under democratic republican governance. Tytler believed the life expectancy of a self-ruled nation was about 200 years. Tytler was very dismissive about who holds the real power in a democratic republic or even a pure democracy. He felt these types of government do not last, cannot sustain themselves, and eventually crumble

Is Joe Biden on the way out? By resignation, or by removal? The answer to that question (based purely on my best guess) is plainly found in the wording of the 25th Amendment to the Constitution (assuming that document still counts for anything). Specifically, the answer is found in section 2, of the Amendment. This section states: "Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress."
