Dean Baquet, the executive editor of The New York Times, decided to give science reporter Donald McNeil a second chance despite finding that he’d made offensive (allegedly quite racist) remarks on a trip with schoolchildren. Fair enough — but how does that square with the Times’ crucifixion of ESPN’s Doug Adler a few years back? Adler’s only “crime” was to describe Venus Williams’ play at the net as “guerilla” tactics. But, as our own Phil Mushnick has reported repeatedly, a Times critic took it as “gorilla” — and that was enough not only to get ESPN to fire Adler, but to destroy his career. And no matter that “guerilla” is used

There won’t be any sledding on Capitol Hill for D.C. kids -- or anyone else -- during this snowstorm, Capitol Police announced Saturday. “Unfortunately, due to the current security posture, COVID-19 restrictions, and the deconstruction of the Inaugural platform, we cannot permit sledding on the Capitol Complex at this time,” Eva Malecki, the communications director for the police department, said. The news arrives despite D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton's plea for authorities to allow sledders, after she said children in American “endured an extremely challenging year." “D.C. children in particular have not only endured the coronavirus pandemic but now the

Democrats are outraged after a Twitter troll exposed the rank hypocrisy of the Democratic Party for the umpteenth time. It didn't take much to trigger Democrats. The troll simply used a quote by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) calling on her supporters to harass members of the former Trump administration but altered the quote to target Gov. Andrew Cuomo's (D-NY) administration. Suddenly, Waters' words are "way way way over the line," "totally unacceptable," and a clear "incitement" to violence.Waters called on her supporters to harass members of the Trump administration when they see such individuals out in public. "Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up,"

I am the author of the bestselling book "TRUMP RULES." My book identifies the top 10 rules that made former President Donald Trump one of the greatest winners in world history in business, branding, real estate, celebrity, television, publishing and politics. Trump is the only person in world history to reach the pinnacle of all of those fields. And the only person to become both a billionaire and president of the United States. It's not a bad resume. Many critics think Trump's winning streak ended with a presidential loss. I disagree. I know the man. I understand the man. I know what comes next. It may be Trump's greatest chapter yet.  Correction*

A portion of Highway 1 near Big Sur, Calif., collapsed this week and fell into the Pacific Ocean after heavy rains caused a “debris flow” of trees, boulders, water and mud, leaving behind a 150-foot-wide gap. Workers from the California Department of Transportation had been assessing the section of the road near Rat Creek, about 20 miles by highway from Big Sur, on Thursday when they discovered the debris on the road, the department said. The department entered into an emergency contract that evening with a construction company to repair the road, but on Friday morning, workers discovered that both lanes had fallen into the ocean below.

In George Orwell’s masterpiece 1984, he said, “The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” To guide you along this path, I bring to your attention implausible things you are expected to believe this week. Things that are not graft. Outrageously generous book deals to present and former officials. The Obamas’ $65 million book advances still lead the way to the most lavish, though the notion that even Democrat politicians’ relatives, like Chelsea Clinton, would offer ghostwritten pap worth anything is something you just have to believe.

They can’t quit the grift. No sooner had Joe Biden won the White House than his family went back to trying to make a buck off his name. The latest sordid example involves one of Joe’s younger brothers, Frank Biden, appearing in a Florida law firm’s ad — on Inauguration Day no less. The ad used the president’s name to draw attention to the Berman Law Group’s class-action suit against sugar cane growers.“The two Biden brothers have long held a commitment to pushing environmental issues to the forefront,” says the ad. “The president-elect has vowed to rejoin the Paris Agreement and wants to set ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets.”
