Newly released bodycam videos show Rochester cops pepper-spraying a 9-year-old girl in the upstate New York city. Footage from one video shot during a family dispute on Friday shows the distraught youngster running from police, then dropping to the snow-covered ground as a cop tries to bring her back.
“I want my dad,” the girl screams in a second video. “I ain’t going nowhere. I want my dad… I’m not getting in no car until I see my dad.”(Snip) Nine police cars responded to the call, police said. The girl’s mother, who was also not identified, is seen

Obviously, the police captured a feral child and had to subdue her.

Sounds more like feral cops to me. Police are not your friend.

Nine police cars to handle an unruly child? Perhaps the social worker approach to such calls might have worked.

she must have been 6'6", 250lbs, and built like the proverbial outhouse.

What a PR move by the Rochester police. No wonder people want to de fund police departments when they can't handle a little nine year old child any better then that.. I wonder if they would treat their own children that way. Shame on them.

If the cop tells you to get in the car, get in the car. Nothing good ever comes from resisting the police at the side of the road. Hopefully, the girl's useless and inadequate parents are arrested and also put in police cars. Pepper spray them too for good measure. They've clearly done such a poor job raising their child that it's roughly equivalent to child abuse.

I'm a huge supporter of the police, but I recognize there are also bad cops. The cop who pepper sprayed a child should be fired, and face any legal charges. .Lets not consider defending vile behavior.

In the article it says she wanted to kill herself and her mother. This is what officers face everyday. What are they suppose to do ?
An officer will lose his job, the city will be sued, and the beat goes on.

She was totally out of control and not responding to any of the officers. The other officers were probably called in, in case any "do gooders" came by and stuck their nose in and interfered. It's real easy to criticize the police. Try doing their jobs for a while and see how your attitude changes.

#3, #7 and #9, usually I would agree with you but have you really been around unruly kids? Volunteered at school activities? I know of a situation where the principal finally called the police because he could not get a handle on a child. Before you start judging the police, read the comments from #8. Ineffective parents have raised kids that are sometime impossible to handle. It is the police who have to deal with the breakdowns in society whether it be unruly children, drug addicts.
So if I am to blame anything on anyone it would be the people who want to take God out of society. After all, once you start taking God out of society, people start leaning on their own understanding and think only of themselves. Seems to be a lot of that going around.

#13 and others get it.
And others are remembering 9 yr old from their childhood.
In some of America’s neighborhoods today, 9 is the new 19.

Wow, I 'm trying to wrap my head around this. Why did the police need to subdue the feral child in the first place? If you accept that there was a legitimate reason to do so, then what more appropriate less harmful alternatives do they have and what options should they have? A burlap bag, actually a net might actually work.
I 'm still stuck on why they had to take this particular child into captivity. Where does that stop? And the police bear the consequences of a degraded society they didn't create. Of course those who destroyed our culture will be the most vocal critics of the lousy job the police did picking up the pieces.

What is going on with the kid and her mother? She wanted her father....perhaps he protects her from her mother. Surely, there is more to this story.

Young Muslim terrorist grow into old dangerous terrorist it's the same with blacks unruly 12 y.o. who is taught to hate and disrespect cops will be an older cop hater in a short time. Within three to five years she'll become a 250 pound bruiser and harder to handle, bank on it. This is nothing to sympathize with here, it's the future.

I fully support police who use all appropriate means to subdue a dangerous adult who threatens their safety.
I do not support moronic cops who are so incapable of dealing with a 9-year-old girl, no matter how out of control she may be, who poses no threat to their safety. Too many police are on a power trip and insist that everyone, including 9-year-olds, autism patients, or retarded people, subdue and control themselves because obedience to cops is more important than safety of police or civilians. It was obvious that pepper-spraying this girl did not subdue her, but escalated the situation.
This cop should be disciplined, and that means more than a slap on the wrist. Two months unpaid leave would be appropriate.

The mother in the street screaming, and the daughter fought the police for many minutes. Maybe Mattressback Harris should hold a national conversation with what she pretends are her people, explaining that they need to behave themselves when dealing with the police. The cops for their part showed remarkable restraint in not spraying her sooner, and should probably carry tranquilizer darts as used on wild animals. Incredible what they have to put up with, and wow, what a waste of police resources over a tantrum.
