There’s nothing to negotiate. The trial would be unconstitutional and illegitimate. It doesn’t matter what you think of Trump, the Capitol Hill riot, or the election.(Snip).It’s plainly unconstitutional, for reasons explained in prior posts:(Snip)The NY Times reports that Senate Republicans are negotiating the terms of this unconstitutional trial:(Snip)The proposal emerged as Mr. McConnell and Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York and the incoming majority leader, haggled privately behind the scenes over the timing and structure of the proceeding and Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused again to say when she would transmit the impeachment charge to the Senate, thus prompting the start of the trial….

It would be nothing more than Kabuki theatre. Our federal government has reduced itself to that of a Kangaroo Court.

Robert Ray, successor to Ken Starr as Independent Special Counsel, said that the first thing that should happen, if there is a trial, would be a motion for dismissal.

The Congress does not have any Constitutional authority to put a private citizen on trial for anything. That’s called a bill of attainder that is unconstitutional. The presiding officer of such a trial, who is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will be put on the spot if Pelosi’s bogus impeachment is sent to the Senate, as the Chief Justice, a career DC swamp rat, who no doubt has no respect for Trump will know from the get-go that he is participating in essentially a bogus partisan political exercise with the whole country watching.

Oh my G*d I am so freaking sick of these people! They have really overplayed their hand, this is going to backfire quickly. It's hard to read this stuff everyday and try to remain calm. Biden is a joke and we are going to become a laughing stock of the world. Not sure how to feel anymore except furious.

They need 67 votes to convict, which they already know they won't get, even with all the squish RINOs.
Questions: Since Roberts won't show up, why don't the Republicans do likewise? How can this sham legally proceed without a judge or jury?

As if any of the mainstream media care. Trump stood up to them, and their coalition with the Democrats grew. Now they want their pound of flesh, and they won't report that it's unconstitutional.

McConnell is trying to destroy Trump. I hope that McConnell is the one destroyed, and purged from the Republican Party. I know I am done with any party that has McConnell in it.

We are witnessing with a speed unheard of in man's civil goobernance, the collapse of the US. We have no country. Just try to stop the soon to be billions of illegals from entering what is left of this country. They will not bring any respect for America only the parasitic appetite of destruction. It’s just another day in ‘Make Illegal Aliens Great Again’ policy . We have no laws. Any court in the US is now run by a black robed demigod who is to much a coward to run for office and become a lawmaker. Easier to issue laws and dictate policy from the comfort of a show court. And we certainly don't have a Congress. We now have a bunch of Junior high hysterical divas clutching their pearls and bellowing perceived injustices and spending money with Daddy's unlimited American Express card. The decline of the British empire took about the very long lifetime of W. Churchill. We are witnessing the decline of the US in less than a generation. Oh, and the fact we are broke doesn't seem to concern anyone. But when the world abandons the dollar, the final collapse will be swift and unmerciful.

The fact that the trial is unconstitutional and illegitimate, illegal, immoral, etc. is exactly why it will happen. The headline states that senate pubs are negotiating; demoncrats are salivating.

BTW, if they want to convict him so that he can’t run again and his “trial” is unconstitutional, doesn’t that mean that he CAN run again?

So the main argument for ex VP Pence not to accept the electoral college votes from certain states on January 6 was that it would be unconstitutional and cause a crisis, and yet, this sham impeachment #2 is a-okay?

Nancy will send the impeachment charge about the time the hord of immigrants reach the Southern border.
There will be a crisis there which will require the military to kill Americans trying to defend our border from the surge of immigrants. All news will be focused on the Southern border with no attention to the kabuki show trial of impeaching and convicting President Trump and rendering him ineligible to ever run for another office.

The U.S. Constituion expressly states that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court shall preside over an impeachment trial; It doesn't state an alternate shall preside. If JC Roberts refuses, there should be NO trial.

There must be a motion for dismissal. The Senate has no jurisdiction to hear impeachment charges over someone who is not in office. Make the Senators go on record if they support this sham. And let them not forget that what goes around, comes around.
