The music industry is mourning the death of Mary Wilson, a Motown legend and co-founder of The Supremes. She was 76.
The legendary girl group, of which she was the longest-running member, recently celebrated its 60th anniversary.
Wilson's longtime friend and publicist, Jay Schwartz, confirmed her death early Tuesday.
Berry Gordy, founder of Motown, openly grieved the late legend in a public statement, writing, "I was always proud of Mary. She was quite a star in her own right and over the years continued to work hard to boost the legacy of the Supremes."

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are still waiting for an explanation of why National Guardsman are still on duty around the Capitol Hill complex more than one month after the deadly riot there on Jan. 6, Rep. Michael Waltz, R-Fla., told "The Story" Monday.
"We still have National Guardsmen out there, away from their families, away from their jobs, supplementing the police," Waltz told host Martha MacCallum, "and yet we can't get a briefing on what is this dire threat that requires so many people. We still don't have answers."
Waltz also discussed accusations of hypocrisy against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., over violating her own Capitol security measures by ignoring metal detectors

It’s been almost three weeks since Donald Trump scurried out of the White House and fled to Florida and Joseph R. Biden Jr. was inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States. I’m still not quite sure I have processed it, that Trump is out of power and the United States has been restored to some version of responsible government. As much as this delights me, it also puts me on edge. Am I the only one who doesn’t know what to do with the silence? Am I alone in having trouble adjusting to the White House calm?

Former President Donald Trump is "simply not guilty" of inciting an insurrection against the United States government, Sen. Tim Scott R-S.C., told "America Reports" on Monday.
Scott said while he appreciated and understood the severity of the situation, given that he was in the chamber when rioters stormed the Capitol, he felt culpability should be placed on those who broke inside the building, not Trump. "The Democrats should put the blame where it stands, where it should be," Scott said. "And it does not have to do with the president who said go ‘peacefully’ to protest."
Scott also speculated

To quote our 46th president — come on, man. We knew the White House would eventually have to retreat from Joe Biden’s answer on Iran and sanctions in his Super Bowl interview, but not by making it sound as though Biden couldn’t keep up with Norah O’Donnell. Rather than try to spin Biden’s answer as no real change from his previous positions, Jen Psaki instead accused O’Donnell of putting words in Biden’s mouth, and insinuated that Biden couldn’t fend for himself in a national interview. Talk about a real confidence builder…

The most nausea-inducing moment of Sunday night’s Super Bowl came not during the public spanking of The Chiefs by the Bucs. It was during a tone-deaf, two-minute TV commercial starring New Jersey’s own Bruce Springsteen, in which the mega-wealthy musician and leftist sage revealed that his longtime working-class grift is as phony as his cowboy hat.
In the commercial entitled “The Middle,” Bruce, is seen driving a 1980 Jeep CJ-5 to a chapel in Lebanon, Kansas, which he describes as “standing on the exact center of the lower 48.’’
He rhapsodizes about this geographical oddity — ignoring the fact that Kansas voters

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge on Monday granted a petition sought by the union that represents county prosecutors that will bar Dist. Atty. George Gascón from implementing policies that would end the use of sentencing enhancements in thousands of criminal cases. The union sued Gascón in late December, alleging some of his policies restricting the use of sentencing enhancements violated state law and put line prosecutors in an ethical bind. The enhancements can add several years to a defendant's time in prison if they meet certain criteria, such as using a gun that caused severe injury

Prepare to be less safe. You knew it was coming with Joe Biden and you were right.
As we previously wrote, Biden was trying to stop deportations for 100 days except for national security threats. That is already causing a massive influx at the border that President Donald Trump had greatly cured with his immigration effort. But a judge slapped down Biden’s effort, handing him his first official court loss. Additionally, according to Homeland Security, there’s a policy change coming that indicates ICE agents would cease to pursue deportations against those convicted of virtually all offenses that were not for national security threats or serious aggravated felonies.,

President Biden has 36 executive orders under his belt, so Americans have had a quick glimpse into what’s in store for the next four years. The rate of change in fundamental policies, such as energy policy, has been kind of like drinking from a firehose, and many Americans may not be aware of the costs of re-entering the Paris Accords. However, even without a full understanding of how these policy changes will roll out, American adults’ mood does not seem all that rosy. Biden has yet to break into positive territory on the Daily Presidential Tracking Poll by Rasmussen Reports

Jeff Bezos would owe about $2 billion a year in state income taxes under Washington's proposed wealth tax, according to legislators.
As part of an effort to reduce inequality and offset the state's lack of an income tax, Washington state legislators are proposing a 1% levy on wealth over $1 billion. Lawmakers say the tax would raise about $2.5 billion a year in revenue and would only apply to so-called nontangible financial assets, or financial investments like stocks or options. Yet tax experts say the state's wealth tax would be overreliant on four megabillionaires who call Washington state home: Bezos, Bill Gates, MacKenzie Scott and Steve Ballmer.

Former President Barack Obama's ethics chief, Walter Shaub, ripped President Biden for publicly commenting on son Hunter's forthcoming memoir, likening it to a "book promotion tour."
"It is not acceptable for the President of the United States to be part of the book promotion tour. No," tweeted Shaub, a U.S. Office of Government Ethics former director under Obama. The tweet that was issued Sunday afternoon was deleted but not before the Washington Examiner viewed its contents.
Shaub also said it was "wonderful" that Hunter Biden, 51, was sharing his experience with addiction because it could help Hunter and other people fighting personal demons. But Shaub added the president's comments

In a generally weak year for Super Bowl commercials, Jeep’s stood out for being particularly obnoxious and tone-deaf. Called “The Middle,” left-wing political activist and world-famous singer Bruce Springsteen narrated and starred in the ad about how the country has been divided, but now it has a bright future as the “ReUnited States of America.”
While advertisements that appeal to virtues in order to increase sales and profits can work — see Toyota’s beautiful ad about the joy in adopting a child with special needs — this one fell flat and faced mockery and opposition from many viewers. Here are the three main reasons the ad didn’t work.
