Serve God and the Military’

Democratic Senate candidate Raphael Warnock said in a 2011 sermon that Americans cannot serve God while also serving in the U.S. military.
The newly unearthed comments threaten to complicate Warnock's candidacy in a tight Georgia Senate race: Georgia is home to the fifth largest active duty military population in the country, according to a 2018 Department of Defense report.
"America, nobody can serve God and the military," Warnock said in the sermon delivered at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, where he serves as senior pastor. "You can't serve God and money. You cannot serve God and mammon at the same time."

this guy is so rabid he's off the scale!! what kind of childhood did he have? he must have been parentally deprived or seriously emotionally and/or physically abused and should be figuring how to get out of prison rather than being elected to the United States Senate. Kelly Loeffler really has a challenge on her hands just trying to dodge the verbal mortar rounds coming from this guy's side of the world. he is a very dangerous person.

Well then, Pastor, don't serve mammon, don't ask for donations, don't pay bills, don't use the evil money. Be better than that, brother.

But apparently you can serve God and the Democratic party. Many would consider that blasphemy.

Both Dem candidates are incredibly radical. But I worry about Atlanta's vote-counting machine.

But you can certainly serve God while supporting the slaughter of 40-60% of your brothers and sisters before they are born. Right, “Rev”?

I am really sick and tired of these black preachers and their political hate speech protected under the guise of their church. Black democrats have got to be the dumbest people on Earth.

What a maroon! He can't be much of a preacher if he doesn't know about David, the son of Jesse, who became the finest warrior in Israel's early history. Every time David prevailed, it was because God led the charge! Raphael is one of those shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted--twice dead. (Jude told you that!) Twice dead.

An extreme nut case if there ever was one. If Communist China takes over the US then worship of God will also become history, at least visibly and in public. I guess David taking out Goliath should also be frowned upon?

Just more proof that he has never cracked open his Bible and seriously read it. I guess the Hebrews, who had a superb military by the way, didn't serve God as well? God has never told any nation they didn't have the right to protect themselves. Even His own future city coming from Heaven has walls. My guess too is he missed the part about angels holding flaming swords too.
I thought Wright and his black liberation theology was crazy, but this guy totally takes the crazy cake.

So many great comments this morning.
God not only fought with and for the Israelites but He still does the same for today's IDF. He has performed miracles for it numerous times. Several of those times occurred, if I remember correctly, during the 1967 war.
Mr. Warlock is a worshipper of Mammon who gives lip service to God and His divinely inspired Word. It would be wise for his church to name another pastor as he does not seem interested in making sure his flock travels on the narrow road.

He can get away with such BS because only about one percent of the young adult US population are brave enough to serve in the military, many people today don’t even know anyone in the military, and no doubt he is preaching to a very low information flock that most likely believes everything he says. In the old days when there was a universal draft, with many of the sons of the rich, famous and everyone else being inducted into the military everyday and serving for two years, except the draft dodgers who absconded to Canada, the percentage of people believing him would be much smaller.

The democrats and vote counters don’t care what this guy says. They’ll vote for him so they can run the Senate.

Oh, didn't any of you hear his explanation/clarification/semi-denial? He only meant to reference God's admonition against serving more than one master. Matthew 6:24.
I read that verse very differently from the reverend. Based on his interpretation, can he serve both God and political office?
