Members of the House of Delegates expect it to pass. In the Senate, they give it “slightly better than 50-50 odds.” And Gov. Ralph Northam’s office says he’s “certainly open to it.” Proposals to legalize recreational marijuana in Virginia are set to get their first serious hearings when the General Assembly convenes in January and, at least for now, it looks like there’s a decent chance they could succeed. “It’s high time we actually make this change and I think other people have seen that as well,” said Del. Mike Mullin, D-Newport News... Corrections*

If we're going to legalize it, legalize it at the federal level and sell it in grocery stores right next to the broccoli along with other vegetables - unless of course we want an expansion of the federal government (gonna need a lot more ATF agents to make sure Uncle Sugar is getting his cut - just like alcohol and tobacco).

Tobacco: bad. Vaping: bad. Pot: good. This is your brain on liberalism.

The fact that Northern Virginia counties (5 major cities) have been taken over by federal government employees - and a total of 17 of its 27 major cities scattered among its 95 counties - have recently turned Virginia into a Democrat state, run by the heavily (urban) democrat populations in these 17 democrat cities.
It's sad. I believe Virginia Republicans feel they have been de-franchised and are effectively politically powerless, especially because Gov. Ralph Northam and his democrat cronies are such far-left radicals. The rural Virginia Republicans hardly recognize their state.

Where this stuff has been decriminalized, any evidence of Reefer Madness? So, while I should be allowed to choose whether to wear a mask these days, I should be penalized, even jailed, for choosing to smoke weed... Yeah, that's consistent thinking.
(BTW: I've never been a user, and have no interest in starting.)

It’s de facto legal in a lot of places simply because prosecutors are having a hard time time seating a jury that thinks it should be illegal. Even conservative Mississippi legalized it for medicinal purposes.

I have spoken to friends, relatives and others who reside in states that have legalized it. Seems there isn't that much taken in to the state ;as the 'traditional' providers here and abroad have stepped in with much lower prices and stronger strains than 'the state' offers. Also, the independent growers that grew up in the 60s and beyond do enjoy the lax or non-existence law enforcement presence. Also was advised that the dispensaries make sure to keep the ATMs filled. In other words, it makes it difficult for the states to confirm how much they REALLY sold. I'm ambivalent about the issue but am not interested in listening to the pro-pot ,tax leeches we elect as they rant on about what a boon it is as a source of revenue for the states. Maybe the kids raised in gubmint schools will be so stoned that the won't remember the liberal propaganda being dished out .

Right #2. This from the first state I lived in that started swiping driver's licenses to buy booze. Jerks.

Legalize everything. Accelerate the decline of this horrible, racist, white supremacist country. Abort all those little unwanted bass..s, nothing counts nor matters now. Death to America; the sooner, the better, reduce America to just another 3rd world country. Let illegals overrun the country. Socialism for all.

#3, unfortunately you are spot on. the deep blue cities/counties near DC override the rest of the very red counties in this Commonwealth.
This is the same deranged [probably high on weed themselves] legislature that has passed a bill that makes it illegal for COPS to pull over drivers who drive around at night with no headlights. Any cop can tell you this is an excellent way to pull over someone who is DUI. I wonder what the hell they are drinking/smoking/snorting up in Richmond.

One more way to get a more compliant, less 'freedom demanding' public.
Drug them into apathy.

Why bother, the left no longer obeys the laws anymore anyway. If it feels good, do it.

Gov Blackface, the Rachel Dozenal of politics, has destroyed everything else, why not ?
I wouldn't want to work or drive with stoners everywhere. To those who use, it's not some innocent high. My SIL and everyone from the old neighborhood who started in school is now dead. Lives were destroyed.
I live in a beautiful little city. Every parking lot has a dealer or two or three.

Not sure how I feel about this. I think we need to make sure we don’t characterize marijuana as “safe.” I do believe we over criminalize marijuana and have some absolutely ridiculous alcohol laws from our puritanical past in some states and counties.
