CBS announced a new diversity pledge Monday that will have a visible impact on its staple of reality shows: All future casts will contain at least 50 percent Black, indigenous and people of color. That means hits like Survivor, Big Brother, and Love Island will be far more diverse starting with the 2021-2022 season. "The reality TV genre is an area that’s especially underrepresented, and needs to be more inclusive across development, casting, production and all phases of storytelling," said George Cheeks, president and chief executive officer for the CBS Entertainment Group.

Why, since America is still approximately 67% White folks. Though we wouldn't know it by watching network TV and seeing all the black, mixed-race couples and people of every color mixing socially. Doesn't happen in the real world, and they cannot force it to happen by their progressive programming.

Big Brother is going to run entertainment media, not the people that make the programs. I don't understand why any producer, artist, or actor would accept their creations being corroded and destroyed by political interference in this way.

So, Jersey Shore but filmed in Detroit, Chicago, and Baltimore? Yeah, that'll be high-class stuff.

White is also a color. Their show and all other shows are 100% people of color.

Is it possible to find enough whiney bitchy annoying people of color to fulfil this requirement?

Years ago I flipped by Survivor, so I thought I’d check it out to see what the fuss was about. Within 30 seconds I had the change the channel - I could feel my intelligence draining.

Yeah right, now you're going to reward the slaves. Get real. They're busy stoking the race war, people; that's all they're doing. Focus your anger on fighting the Swamp, not this crap. Drag them in the streets, not each other.

People with character need not apply. The ONLY thing that matters is color of their skin.

Survivor is well known for dividing it contestants into teams according to some characteristic or other. Will they have a "Survivor — White v. Non-White" season?
Their show, their dollar. "Get woke, go broke," as the expression goes.

What about LGBTQ+ (the + denotes pedophiles and other perverts) creatures? Does Diversity not extend to these fabulous realms? How about people who are not photogenic or who are dull? Not many of those on TV, you bigots.

First season survivor was new and refreshing and different. After that, meh, with rare exception. We watched by habit for a few more seasons but the fun never came back.
As far as affirmative action for reality TV goes... uh ok... they already pick people based on how obnoxious they are so the shows are interesting for the viewers with heroes and villains and such. So now they will add another criteria and possibly pass over more interesting people for XYZ race people who might be boring. Good luck.
Survivor managed to be multi-racial without making a big deal out of it and patting themselves on the back for every token on the show.

If the contestants are urban "youths," the fists will be flying 10 minutes into the first episode.

Will they require half of the contestants to wear saggy pants and gold caps on their teeth? Maybe an additional requirement of fathering half a dozen kids with four women and not supporting any of them.

Make them Hispanic and Asian-we have more than the 13% of blacks as in population already. Why can't we go on merit as in folks like Lou Gossett Jr

Aren't we impressed. It should have been that way in the first place. I was taught not to look at someone's skin color and that meant everyone should be given a chance. When your program first started, you should have been giving EVERYONE a chance. I am so impressed that your program was racist in the first place because you did not give everyone (no matter their color) a chance at applying and now you are running around trying to convince people of it because you are putting 50% people that are of color.

Apparently my local Barnes & Noble book store has also become "woke." When I went there a couple days ago, ALL of the employees were black. I wonder if this was a local decision or a company-wide edict? I think I'll be avoiding the chain for a while.
