It’s exactly the opposite of an embarrassment of riches. Portland voters re-elected Ted Wheeler in Tuesday’s election but that’s only because he was less odious and scary than his antifa opposition. Wheeler and Sarah Iannarone, his challenger, spent more than $1.4 million in the race, with Iannarone taking advantage of taxpayer support like the good communist she is. Wheeler and Iannarone were two of 19 candidates facing off in the May 19 primary, with Wheeler missing the 50% win threshold by less than a point, forcing the November runoff.

NEW ORLEANS - Louisiana voters have approved an amendment to the state constitution that makes clear the document does not grant the right to an abortion.
The question before voters Tuesday was whether to explicitly state that “a right to abortion and the funding of abortion shall not be found in the Louisiana Constitution.”
Ahead of the vote, analysts said passage would have little immediate effect.
However, if the Supreme Court were to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision on abortion rights, the amendment would ensure against any court ruling that language in the Louisiana Constitution grants abortion rights.

Republican Rep. Roger Marshall defeated Democrat Barbara Bollier for a Senate seat in Kansas, protecting the seat for his party despite a massive effort by Democrats to pull a second statewide upset in two years. Bollier, a state legislator and former Republican, was hoping to emulate Gov. Laura Kelly, a Democrat who surprisingly won the governorship in the heavily Republican state in 2018. But Marshall was able to recover, after a slog of a GOP primary, to win the race. The election for retiring Republican Sen. Pat Roberts’ seat

Republicans ousted two Florida Democratic lawmakers from their seats in Tuesday's elections. Florida Republican candidate Carlos Gimenez defeated freshman Democratic Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell -- the first flip of a House seat Tuesday night.
And then Republican Maria Elvira Salazar defeated freshman Democratic Rep. Donna Shalala.
Gimenez, the mayor of Miami-Dade County, flipped the seat from blue to red -- a sign of the Democratic Party's struggles in southern Florida. Mucarsel-Powell flipped the seat from red to blue during the 2018 midterm election.

STATEN ISLAND, New York City -- Republican Nicole Malliotakis has declared victory over Democrat Max Rose in the contentious House race in New York City's only swing district.
The Associated Press has not yet called the race.
"You know, today Staten Island and southern Brooklyn sent a loud and clear message. And that message will resonate from the halls of City Hall to the halls of Congress," Malliotakis said in her speech on Tuesday night.
Malliotakis went on to say that she entered the race 'with eyes wide open,' knowing it was going to be an uphill battle.

Republican Sen. John Cornyn won reelection Tuesday night in Texas, beating Democratic challenger MJ Hegar in a race that grew competitive toward the end but saw Cornyn steer clear of trouble in the state.
Democrats have spoken of flipping once-solid-red Texas for a generation, but the state somewhat suddenly became contested territory under President Donald Trump, with GOP Sen. Ted Cruz hanging on by less than 3 points in 2018 as Texas’ diverse suburbs swung hard against the Republican Party.

A lot of the air seems to be coming out of the Democratic balloon with the calling of Mitch McConnell’s Senate race in Kentucky. The best sign of that was when CNN’s Chris Cillizza seemed to throw up his hands in frustration. “Let’s just stop talking about how *this* time things will be different for Democrats against McConnell.
The guy is unbeatable in the state. Period.“ Can I just remind everyone of how the Democrats and their media allies kept giving Mitch McConnell increasingly cool nicknames? Cocaine Mitch. Midnight Mitch. Apex Predator of Politics Mitch?

As of this writing (@9:30 eastern), it is clear there isn’t going to be a Biden landslide, as many liberals were hoping. My sources close to the RNC war room say there is great optimism at this time, but it’s likely to be close like 2o16.
Looking around the Twitterverse (though mostly drawn from the Washington Post’s election feed), it is already evident that the left is freaking out. First, let’s note that Henry Olsen (no leftist, just to be clear) is backtracking from his Biden call:

Washington—Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, will not make public how they voted in this year’s presidential race, four years after the couple revealed on Election Day that they had selected “none of the above” in the 2016 White House contest. Bush spokesman Freddy Ford—who has stressed repeatedly over the 2020 campaign cycle that the former president is “retired from presidential politics”—on Monday confirmed that the Dallas residents are keeping their ballot box decisions to themselves this year. That it’s even a question is remarkable, underscoring yet again how Trump has transformed the Republican Party from the party it was under Bush.

The day has arrived for Americans across the country to have their voices heard, as they vote for president and vice president of the United States while anxiously awaiting the culmination of a year and a half of feverish campaigning. An increasingly polarized electorate appears to be resulting in record-setting numbers of Americans casting ballots in 2020. A staggering 100 million people had already cast their ballots before Tuesday, according to data from the University of Florida's Election Project. This a combination of in-person early voting and expanded absentee ballot opportunities afforded to voters in many states due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Maybe I’m reading into this, but it sounds like the Biden campaign is worried about Pennsylvania.
According to Charlie Spiering, White House correspondent for Breitbart News, Trump’s Director of Battleground Strategy Nick Trainer told reporters that the “Biden campaign just outlined on a zoom call that said Trump was within one state of winning” the election. And what state is that? I have a guess. Among other factors that bode well for Trump, Biden’s lead in the RealClearPolitics average is now +1.2, which is less than Hillary Clinton’s in 2016, when she had a +2.1 lead in the RealClearPolitics average.

The latest anti-cop riots to convulse an American city hit Philadelphia last week, part of a stream of such violence since the early summer. This bout of looting and assault broke out after the fatal police shooting of Walter Wallace, Jr., on October 26. The shooting of the 27-year-old Wallace appears justified, if tragic. Wallace had been threatening his mother with a knife, resulting in two previous 911 calls that day. When the police arrived, he ignored repeated requests to drop the knife as he approached the officers. The officers had not been equipped with Tasers; in that situation, they had no other option,

We regret to inform you that this is not, in fact, all going to be over soon.
Those who still need convincing that we are in for a protracted election struggle may refer to our most recent feature and the shockingly brazen developments we’ve been tracking among Democrats for some time.
But in your heart, you probably don’t need convincing. You’ve seen businesses in cities across America fortifying their buildings as best they can against what everyone knows, but no one can say, will be anti-Trump political violence.

Many of us have been experiencing debilitating election-based anxiety for months, and we know that tomorrow it will only get worse. Some of us are even setting up plans for how to endure the hours between when the polls close and when we know the election results. It could all be over tomorrow night, easy-peasy. Or, there could be days of vote counting and court arguments! Who can say?
Personally, I will be spending tomorrow with my two-and-a-half-year-old niece and one-year-old nephew—whose mere existence gives me a semblance of hope for the future—while also probably eating Mr. Gatti’s pizza for the first time in years,

All eyes remain on the U.S. election, and on fathoming its consequences. But in the shadow of ‘The Election’, there are other ‘moving parts’: Germany just offered Washington ‘a sweetheart deal’ in which, Europe – with Germany leading – accepts to leverage America’s full-spectrum strategy of isolating and weakening Russia and China. And in return it is asking the U.S. to acquiesce to German leadership of a ‘power-political’, European entity that is raised to parity with the U.S. That, bluntly, is to say, Germany is angling for ‘superpower’ status, atop an EU ‘empire’ for the new era. The ISM manufacturing survey was released today showing exceptional economic news on the manufacturing front. New orders for manufactured goods jumped to their highest level in 17 years and were 3.4 percent higher than pre-pandemic levels. That data matches our earlier ground reports from across the nation. The manufacturing sector inventories are low, that means this cycle of replenishment will continue for some time. Orders for customer goods continues to drive expansion, investment and operational increases in productivity. That customer demand drives the need for increased hiring in manufacturing…. that demand drives wages… and so the middle-class is again on track for a fantastic rebound. That’s MAGAnomics.

There is one clear leading indicator pointing to Donald Trump still having a chance to win the election — stores around America are fortifying themselves in anticipation of election-related violence.
Businesses in cities like New York City, Washington, DC, Los Angeles and Chicago are boarding up as if a Category 5 hurricane is bearing down.
Everyone tends to be coy about the reason why. The cops in Beverly Hills worry about “protest activity.” Tiffany refers to “potential election-related activity.” Saks Fifth Avenue says it’s taking precautions “in the event of civil unrest due to the current election.”

A few key qualities set the best candidates apart – their grasp of the issues and concerns of voters, a capacity to meet the moment and an ability to assemble the right team.
For all of these reasons, I voted early for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Finally — finally — we're there: Election Day.
But here's some potentially bad news: The whole thing may not actually end on Tuesday.
You've all seen the nightmare scenarios -- one actually ends with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as temporary acting president. And of course, no one really knows what's going to happen (least of all the pollsters -- remember 2016?). But here's what you might expect to happen on Election Day.
First, a ray of optimism: President Trump shocked the world last time by sweeping to victory over heavy frontrunner Hillary Clinton — all before midnight.

This is called an About Time moment. Fauci should’ve been fired long ago.
Truth be told, Fauci never should have been granted the wide-scale, nationwide public platform at the White House in the first place. He should’ve been kept behind scenes, as one of many COVID-19 advisers to the president. He only should have been given the media platform when he was speaking a tightly controlled administration-penned message. Why?

We’re about to make a decision as a country in a presidential election that is fundamental.
It’s fundamental on a number of levels.
Ideologically, we’re about to choose between a president who aggressively champions America as founded, or at least as close to it as modern realities allow, and a Democrat challenger whose handlers are openly socialist.
In foreign policy, we’re about to choose between an America First stance demanding that our allies pull their weight, that trade deals don’t sell out our workers, that Islamic militants and other international villains not be coddled, that we stand up to China, and that the UN not eat our sovereignty …

The robot layoff is the result of the company cutting ties with startup Bossa Nova Robotics, which over the last five years provided six-foot-tall inventory-tracking machines to roughly 500 Walmart stores, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Sources familiar with the move told the newspaper that company executives determined they can use their own store employees to effectively keep tabs of inventory.

Since Trump took office, I’ve been delighted with his governance. I don’t care about his tweets and rough edges, because I find him amusing and genuine. I don’t care that he’s mean because Trump is a counterpuncher. He never throws the first punch. If you attack him, though, he’ll destroy you.
I love Trump because he has the right enemies.
I love Trump because he keeps his promises.
I love Trump because he loves America and her people.

Here are three disparate observations, the common denominator being optimism.
First: The polls are shifting in the last days before the election, just as they did in 2016. From Townhall, “If New Batch of Polls are Correct, Trump Will Soar Past 300 Electoral Votes.” Check out the polls cited there. They include Michigan (Trump 48/46), Pennsylvania (Trump 49/47), Wisconsin (Trump 50/49), Florida (Trump 49/45), and so on. We are at the point where polls are pretty much meaningless, but I don’t think it is coincidental that 2020 is just about a carbon copy of 2016.

Americans take for granted that, when we step into the voting booth and cast our ballots, the choices we make will remain secret unless we voluntarily reveal them. Moreover, regardless of ideological bent, very few voters would approve of any attempt to lift that veil of privacy from the process. Yet the secret ballot was essentially unheard of in the United States until the mid-19th century, and it wasn’t adopted throughout the country until the 1890s. Before then, elections were conducted by voice or by color-coded tickets. The “shy Trump voter” could never survive in such an electoral environment. Thus, it’s unlikely that Trump could have been elected in 2016.

For months now, disappointed liberals have been scratching their heads and bemoaning one question hanging over the 2020 elections. Why aren’t Democrats talking about gun control? It was all the rage last year, but now you don’t hear a peep about if from almost any of their candidates and it wasn’t even mentioned at the Democratic National Convention. The reasons seemed fairly obvious to me and it looked as if the issue had been put to rest for this cycle. But then, only this weekend, Democratic candidate Joe Biden broke the mold and ended the silence. His Twitter account chimed in, seemingly out of nowhere, with a promise

The official tally isn’t in just yet, but one candidate can safely claim victory in a Pennsylvania bakery’s cookie poll.
Lochel’s, a family-owned bakery located in the town of Hatboro, tells Fox News that the shop’s Trump-themed cookies are “vastly” outselling its Biden-themed cookies by a margin of almost 6 to 1, with some customers driving from neighboring states in order to get their hands on the treats.
“We had one guy drive twice from Staten Island for them,” said bakery owner Kathleen Lochel.
What’s more, Kathleen had previously touted that the informal “cookie poll” — which she’s held for the past four election cycles — has accurately predicted

I have been favorably disposed toward “The Donald” ever since he restored the ice skating rink in Central Park back in the 1980s, a quintessential New York spot that I had enjoyed when I was younger. The rink was out of commission for years and the city never seemed able to address it despite spending plenty of money. Trump had it fixed and working in a matter of months, ahead of schedule and well under budget.Clearly a man of action who says what he’ll do and does what he says, Trump was a mover and shaker in a bureaucratically sluggish city. He is a man who keeps his promises,

An unidentified British businessman apparently thinks President Trump will be re-elected and he’s willing to put his money where his mouth is, a report said. The Sun newspaper reported Monday the ex-banker bet $5 million through private bookies located in Curacao and it is believed to be the largest political bet ever made. The report said the individual did his research and consulted with “Trump camp insiders.”
The bet can result in a $15 million payout, the report said.
Joe Biden continues to lead in national polls, but the Trump campaign appears optimistic and sees the polls tightening in the key battleground states.

Tens of thousands of supporters of President Donald Trump gathered under a red evening sky in Kenosha, Wisconsin, for the penultimate rally of the 2020 presidential campaign. With temperatures at 47º Fahrenheit, and the wind blowing steadily from the west, the weather was cold, with the wind chill at 41º. But that did not deter the faithful from attending a rally in a town that was devastated by Black Lives Matter riots in August — as Democratic Party nominee Joe Biden criticized police.Much of the damage in the town is still visible, with rubble in the central business district, and public buildings boarded up.

Joe Biden nabbed the first tiny victory of Election Day — winning all 5 votes in a small New Hampshire town that holds a tradition of counting their votes at midnight. The final vote tally at Dixville Notch, New Hampshire — which is among three towns that tally their election results after midnight — was drawn on a poster board moments after the clock struck 12 a.m.In the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton won the Dixville Notch vote. Then, the town, which is close to the Canadian border, had a total of 8 voters.
Two other areas in the state, Hart’s Location and Millsfield, have also historically offered midnight voting.

BUTLER, Pennsylvania — A man who came to President Trump's giant rally at a local airport Saturday night said he knew someone who planned to vote for Trump but felt too intimidated to say so publicly. I asked who it was. It was his mother, he answered, but she would kill him if she found out that he told anyone.
"There are a lot of people who are too afraid to put up a sign [for Trump]," he said, explaining that his neighborhood, more than an hour away, was mixed between Trump and Biden voters, and black and white voters.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson dedicated a segment of his top-rated show on the eve of the 2020 election to mocking the way Sen. Kamala Harris spoke during recent campaign stops in Florida and Georgia.
Carlson compared Harris, the vice presidential candidate born in California and raised in Quebec, Canada, to Hillary Clinton affecting a Southern accent on the campaign trail in the past.
"In Florida on Saturday, Kamala revealed a new lived experience. Turns out, she’s a proud, lifelong resident of the Deep South here in the United States," Carlson said on Monday before playing one clip of Harris.

There is a vaunted prize in American politics: the undecided, apolitical “middle.” These are the independents and late bloomers who make their voting decisions in the last few days before going to the polls.
Apparently, you people decide elections. This is for you.
I am not going to name any political party. I’m not even going to mention a specific politician or candidate. I will only ask you about your principles.
We are told that style matters. How a politician speaks in public, how he talks about other Americans, how he tweets. We have been told that this election is about “character.” So let’s talk about character, shall we?

VIENNA — Austria’s top security official says a third person has died following Vienna shooting. Austrian Interior Minister Karl Nehammenr told reporters that two men and a woman have died from their injuries. A suspected attacker was also shot and killed by police.
Nehammer said that initial investigations indicate that the suspect who was killed had sympathized with the Islamic State group. Authorities are still trying to determine whether further attackers may be on the run. People in Vienna have been urged to stay at home Tuesday.

“You know, Joe. I ran because of you.”
On June 16, 2015, after decades of being fed up with what was happening to our country, President Trump decided to come down that golden escalator and do something about it.
He spoke plain truths. America didn’t have victories anymore. Our economy was in shambles, GDP was shrinking into negative territory. We weren’t beating China. All Americans were getting was rhetoric from politicians, when they just wanted a job.
President Trump didn’t need the job or money. He wasn’t beholden to any big donors or foreign nations. He lived the American Dream. He wanted it for others,

The famous “Dewey defeats Truman” presidential election was 72 years ago and reminders of what was an epic polling failure echo to this day. For pollsters, pundits, and the press, Democrat Harry Truman’s surprise victory over Republican Thomas E. Dewey in 1948 is, or ought to be, an enduring reminder about the perils of extreme overconfidence.
The 1948 election also may offer a lens by which to understand the outcome of the Trump-Biden race. Here’s how:
If Joe Biden blows what has been a solid lead in pre-election polls, his loss may be attributable to having pursued something akin to Dewey’s glide-path campaign

It’s an easy yes for me – a yes to four more years of Donald J. Trump as commander in chief. I know it’s an easy yes for tens of millions of patriotic Americans, too.
I’m saying yes to the great American comeback, built upon one of the strongest economies the world has ever seen. Under President Trump, our nation's unemployment levels reached historic lows with the employment levels at historic highs. And this wasn’t just for a select few – it was for every single demographic in our country. Wages went up, jobs were brought back from overseas, and trade deals were implemented to hold China accountable

When the first American edition of my Coup d’État: a Practical Handbook was published in 1969, the United States was in great turmoil. Anti-Vietnam War demonstrations had grown increasingly aggressive—a process culminating in the Kent State demonstrations of the following year, during which beleaguered National Guardsmen in imminent physical danger killed four and wounded others in self-defense, as multiple courts unambiguously determined. The publisher’s press agent had no trouble at all lining up media interviews. These I handled as best I could, having just arrived in the U.S. for the first time and being greatly ill-prepared for the peculiar nature of American provincialism.

CNN’s hatred for President Trump and Republicans was boiling over on the eve of Election Day. Their animus was perfectly summed up during a Monday segment of Cuomo PrimeTime which featured New York Times columnist, the insufferably pompous Tom Friedman. According to the duo, the Republicans were just a bunch of “manure” eating racists and whores trying to stir up a Lebanese-style civil war while trying to suppress votes, while President Trump was trying to “put a bullet into the country.”
Nothing about that description is an exaggeration. With just hours until polls opened, they were throwing everything they had at the all.

Via RCP, he’s not speaking on behalf of NBC or MSNBC — I think. He and his team will be doing election-night coverage on “Peacock,” NBC’s streaming platform. That’s the feed which he claims won’t carry Trump. And as I understand him, he’s not describing a scenario where Trump really does legitimately win tomorrow night. If the surprise to end all surprises happens and Trump romps through the battlegrounds by margins so wide that Biden can’t possibly make up the gap with not-yet-counted mail ballots, then of course Peacock and every other platform should carry Trump’s victory speech live. What he’s talking about here is

Whatever the outcome of the Michigan Senate Race, Republican candidate John James has run a focused, inspirational and forward-thinking campaign.
My colleague Sister Toldjah described James’s campaign and rapid response as “beast mode”:
“James has run such an impressive campaign that mainstream media outlets like CNN have tried to spread lies about his record, while social media platforms like Twitter have tried to suppress news of important endorsements in the state.
“Despite all that, his message is resonating enough that Joe Biden is paying attention.

Kenosha, Wisconsin. It's a town that made headlines earlier this year when riots broke out there following the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Buildings and businesses were set ablaze and livelihoods were destroyed. When I traveled to the area one month later, at the end of September, the small town was still in ruins, as though the riots took place the day before. "Black Lives Matter" posters and painting covered businesses and buildings. People were doing their best to rebuild and bring hope back to their community.
The city was one of President Donald Trump's final campaign stops on the eve of Election Day,
