ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —Police misconduct in New Mexico can often be shrouded in secrecy, but after examining hundreds of law enforcement records, the KOB 4 Investigates Team has learned that officers accused of everything from sex crimes to excessive force still have state certifications to be a cop.
There are currently more than 100 police misconduct cases pending before the state's law enforcement oversight board

Accusations do not mean police misbehavior. I once had a woman friend ask me to pretend to be asleep so she couls accuse a cop if he gave her a DWI. We are not friends any more.

I saw good and bad cops in NM in the years I lived there. I think the worst I saw was a little game they played when the town was running out of money. The cops would form what they called "wolf packs" consisting of three or four cars, and write ticket after ticket until the shortfall was made up. No violation was too petty.
The best was when I got stopped for speeding. I had several rifles in the front seat and a big dog, but the trooper was pleasant and didnt get all uppity. He made idle chit chat and wrote me for ten mph less than I was going (probably so he wouldn't have to go to court) and sent me on my way with a smile and a wave. It was a few minutes later I realized the idle chit chat was an interrogation and I'd told him everything he wanted to know. That guy was good.

New Mexico has beautiful sites but lots of flakes. Hippies in the ‘60’s migrated en masse there.

The place is ran by Democrats. Has been for years. So I would certainly agree Democrats do a lousy job of running anything.

Political muscle keeps this all in check. When the unions give the nod, the cop is toast. Can't win them all.

What did they expect? The place has been run by Democrats for the last hundred years or so....

I'm getting really tired of the disrespect of police all across our country. If you are reading this and you live in a large metropolitan city get out now while you can. Cities like Portland, Seattle, Atlanta, Minneapolis etc will be boarded up $@$holes within the next couple of years.
I'm glad I live in farm land.

KOB 4 Investigates apparently never heard of Due Process and the legal standard of innocent until proven guilty. Accusations don't mean guilt.

I’ve talked with cops and the real problem is yes there are bad cops. We know that. But the real problem is that the police Union protects them and their jobs at all costs. That’s the underlying problem.

Having lived in New Mexico for five years during my college days, KOB tv was just as lefty as it is today. Nothing to see here. Just stirring the identity politics pot every chance they get. No, KOB, the police are not the problem, you are.

You think New Mexico is bad? Check out New York and Chicago. That does not make the other 98% of the police in those locales as bad as the incompetents. Every other profession would contain roughly the same percentage of contamination of lowlife people.

Even little West Virginia is a habitual perpetrator of that speed trap to enhance revenue option, quite often.

I’m trying to figure out why this was important news today? NM locals (present or past) on the thread inform us that KOB4 is lefty. So are most of the MSM affiliates across the country. So KOB4 decided to do its lefty duty and turned some intern loose to help the anti-police BLM types and progressives like Biden and Kamala and AOC and Omar by digging through files to come up with a negative report on the police.
Innocent until guilty is the way it works in our country. We must never ever forget that or it could hit us at some time...

Yes, but what I want to know is how many KOB employees have been accused of everything from sex crimes to violence against others, such as domestic abuse? I don't suppose that information is very easy to get, either. Police in New Mexico, like everywhere else, are human and have to deal with the scum of humanity on a daily basis. Why just focus on them?
As for New Mexico police in general, my experience has been that many of them are hispanic, and will let other hispanics slide on minor traffic violations such as speeding, while not doing the same for Caucasians. The police and their bosses, the politicians of New Mexico, certainly have the same mind set when it comes to illegal aliens. They seem to think that as fellow hispanics, they don't have to follow and obey our immigration laws, and they are entitled to all that free stuff such as health care, food stamps and education. The Whites of the Southwest are interlopers who stole their land...

More stirring the pot? Or a valid investigation? KOB 4 leans heavily left, so I think that this was unnecessary at this point in time.
