San Francisco tax revenue
plunge points to resident exodus

San Francisco experienced a 43% year-over-year decline in sales tax revenues during the pandemic, which has been credited to an exodus from the expensive city. San Francisco’s chief economist Ted Egan attributed the drop in revenue that occurred between April and June to a flight of individuals from the city, rather than a decline in activity due to the pandemic. Egan told Fox News that while areas throughout California experienced a decline in sales tax revenues, other cities saw an uptick in online sales – but San Francisco did not.

California is run by people who are so rich that they never have to go into public places, where the rest of us live. And they are so narcissistic that they believe that that makes them better than every one else ( the creme de la creme as was said in an earlier time). And they are so absorbed in their world that what happens to the public places doesn’t matter to them, and if what happens to those spaces punishes the creme-wanna-bes, so much the better.

When your city is so expensive that a 100K income barely pays rent, lock down all of the benefits of said city, restaurants, shopping entertainment etc, what's the point of staying? As a resident since 1973 I am saddened that the maniacs running the city are finally killing the golden goose. It’s not the crap on the streets, which isn’t as prevalent as the hysterics say, but the end of fun. San Francisco was the first place to shut down way back in March. It’s still locked up even though it was never hit hard by the virus. The young, affluent tech types who preferred living in exciting San Francisco rather than boring Silicon Valley have no reason to stay. In a futile attempt to tank Trump the Dems are working daily to destroy the city.

The ideology comes FIRST !! This is why they cannot be reasoned with, it's very similar to a religion - no actual proof is needed, it really is a belief or faith and contrary opinions, ideas, thoughts or plans are simply ignored in favor of the ideology ! Simple and VERY difficult to change ! This is also why they carry their 'disease' ( liberalism ) with them to where ever they go to infest and eventually ruin the 'new' home. They will leave their 'utopia' and spread their insanity where ever they go.

San Francisco has long been considered by the rest of California to be a foreign country. There was a time, that I am happy to have enjoyed, when a weekend in San Francisco was a marvelous experience. Great hotels, great restaurants, great shopping. Terrific. But to live there? Never. Only the very wealthy could afford to live in nice houses. Those of us who are old enough to have perspective, are not surprised at what has happened. A Better Plan Than Pelosi’s:

Posted by Pluperfect 10/11/2020 5:08:54 AM Post Reply
It’s starting to look like the states never should have ratified the 25th Amendment to begin with. At least not the part that deals with a dysfunctional president. Certainly it’s hard to imagine a scheme more nefarious than the one that Speaker Nancy Pelosi is advancing. In one of those crises the Democrats don’t like to let go to waste, it would turn over the task of removing an elected president to a panel of — wait for it — psychiatrists. Mrs. Pelosi’s plan has nothing to do with President Trump’s case of Covid, contrary to what she suggested in her mincing press conference on Thursday.

The Center for American Progress claims that recent policy changes at the Department of Homeland Security “could potentially undo the gains that DACA recipients have made.” Yes — and water is wet. No one doubts that those granted temporary lawful status under the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program benefited. After all, they weren’t deported. But what the CAP study ignores is that those gains often come at the expense of U.S. workers and taxpayers. Some background is important. Without any constitutional or statutory authority to do so, President Barack Obama in 2012 directed DHS to create the DACA program.

To those who label GoodFellas a morality play that leaves us exiting the theater appropriately updated on the evils of the Mafia, I ask this: Knowing how his story ended, do you think Joe Pesci’s character Tommy DeVito would have done things any differently? If he’d had his life to live over, would he have gone into plumbing or roofing before expiring of a heart attack in his Barcalounger? Would he have chosen the life of a square? I think not. Even knowing things would end with a gunshot in the face (oh, sorry! — spoiler alert), I think Tommy would have considered it a fair trade.

After a summer of assaults on Christopher Columbus’s legacy, it’s a small miracle that Columbus Day is still hanging on as a federal holiday. Columbus has been under attack since at least 1980, when Howard Zinn vilified him in his anti-American polemic A People’s History of the United States. More recently, Columbus’s reputation has come under attack like never before. Dozens of Columbus statues have been vandalized, and at least 33 cities have taken down their Columbus statues, from Sacramento to New Haven. In June, a 1,600-pound bronze statue of Columbus—located just a few miles from Joe Biden’s 6,850 square foot mansion—was removed.

On Friday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced legislation to create what would be called the "Commission on Presidential Capacity to Discharge the Powers and Duties of Office." The bill, written by one of Pelosi's fellow Democrats, Rep. Jamie Raskin, would provide for the implementation of the 25th Amendment to remove a president deemed too incapacitated to carry out his or her responsibilities. Pelosi, of course, led the Democratic effort to impeach and remove President Trump 11 months ago. For his part, Raskin has wanted to remove Trump from the get-go. He introduced a 25th Amendment bill in 2017, the first year of Trump's presidency.

Our public schools are run, for the most part, by liberal administrators, and teachers are drawn, usually, from the lowest quadrant of academic ability among college graduates. There are exceptions, of course, but the overall level of instruction in the public schools is abysmal. And that isn’t the worst of it: teachers who are marginally able, at best, to teach the subjects for which they are nominally responsible often devote themselves to political indoctrination instead. Most such forays into left-wing mythology go unreported, but occasionally an enterprising kid turns on his phone and records a teacher’s rant. That happened a few weeks ago
