San Francisco experienced a 43% year-over-year decline in sales tax revenues during the pandemic, which has been credited to an exodus from the expensive city.
San Francisco’s chief economist Ted Egan attributed the drop in revenue that occurred between April and June to a flight of individuals from the city, rather than a decline in activity due to the pandemic.
Egan told Fox News that while areas throughout California experienced a decline in sales tax revenues, other cities saw an uptick in online sales – but San Francisco did not.

San Francisco has been business-hostile since I was at university in the 1970s!

Just way too much "tolerance". My brother and his wife went to San Francisco on their honeymoon - back in the day when feces and used needles were not part of the landscape. Would guess not too many honeymooners go there anymore.

Make San Fran Sicko a ghost town. Don't go there. It is a filthy dung heap. Trash blowing around everywhere, needles littering the street. To say nothing of above-ground sewage. the aroma of which San Fran sickos don't seem to mind. As long as liberals have communism, any level of misery acceptable

Look at it this way - “Escape From NY” is no longer just a movie, it’s life or death. Same same San Fran, though I don’t think even Snake Pliskin could put this mess right.

I am SO glad SE Oklahoma has extremely limited high speed internet and really crappy cell service. (Really glad it’s also cough-burka-free). Keeps out the riff raff.

Why is there no rampant COVID outbreak on streets of San Fran? One would think with wide spread homelessness, non mask wearing, needle using drug addicts Covid numbers would be really high.. but we don’t hear the statistics.

I you want a city where people poop in the cereal aisle,
you can have that.
But, don't be surprised if decent people don't want to play with you.

The age-old problem of running out of OPM. No wonder Ninny is demanding $2.2 trillion from US Taxpayers. Keeping non-paying bums in top tier hotels and supplying them with booze, drugs and food is only affordable to successful rock bands and the Obamas. Suffer, you idiots!

For an interesting side note, most likely attributed to Climate Change, the river now has enough salt water content that Great Whites are swimming up past the bridge and grabbing sea lions near Alcatraz and the city. That's probably their biggest tourist attraction right now.

California is run by people who are so rich that they never have to go into public places, where the rest of us live. And they are so narcissistic that they believe that that makes them better than every one else ( the creme de la creme as was said in an earlier time). And they are so absorbed in their world that what happens to the public places doesn’t matter to them, and if what happens to those spaces punishes the creme-wanna-bes, so much the better.

When your city is so expensive that a 100K income barely pays rent, lock down all of the benefits of said city, restaurants, shopping entertainment etc, what's the point of staying? The same thing is happening in NY. With the continued lock downs and now rioting in the streets, you would be nuts to stick it out if you can afford to leave.

As a resident since 1973 I am saddened that the maniacs running the city are finally killing the golden goose. It’s not the crap on the streets, which isn’t as prevalent as the hysterics say, but the end of fun. San Francisco was the first place to shut down way back in March. It’s still locked up even though it was never hit hard by the virus. The young, affluent tech types who preferred living in exciting San Francisco rather than boring Silicon Valley have no reason to stay. In a futile attempt to tank Trump the Dems are working daily to destroy the city.

And how many, after they move away, will spread this political infection to their new location by continuing to vote for destructive leftist policies? Too many.
I hope at least some of them learned a lesson, or were already conservative (is that even possible in SanFran?) before they left.
Anyone every remember Robin of Berkeley?

I am a retired airline pilot and SFO used to be my favorite city in the world. Now it is a filthy unfriendly hell hole! What the liberals have done to this beautiful city is unconscionable. Know this, they will do this to any place they inhabit! Just look at the previous red states where they are now moving. They are destroying them with the same stupidity that destroyed their last state. CO, NV, AZ, FL, GA, NC, WA, and more that I am not familiar with. They are so stupid that they do not realize that the reason that they had to move is themselves!

The ideology comes FIRST !!
This is why they cannot be reasoned with, it's very similar to a religion - no actual proof is needed, it really is a belief or faith and contrary opinions, ideas, thoughts or plans are simply ignored in favor of the ideology ! Simple and VERY difficult to change !
This is also why they carry their 'disease' ( liberalism ) with them to where ever they go to infest and eventually ruin the 'new' home.
They will leave their 'utopia' and spread their insanity where ever they go.

San Francisco has long been considered by the rest of California to be a foreign country. There was a time, that I am happy to have enjoyed, when a weekend in San Francisco was a marvelous experience. Great hotels, great restaurants, great shopping. Terrific. But to live there? Never. Only the very wealthy could afford to live in nice houses. Those of us who are old enough to have perspective, are not surprised at what has happened. Liberals destroy all that they touch, even their own cities. RIP, San Francisco. It was a good time while it lasted.

I still try to find the logic in the replies that those fleeing these Liberal-dominated cities, and - yikes - moving to infect a paradise of a state, would be the Liberals. Seems to me that it would be the Conservatives who would flee, but that’s just my opinion. I like yours better, even though it seems fallacious.

SF is going to raise more property tax revenue by assessing businesses and residences with an additional bathroom -- the sidewalk!
