Clouds of mosquitoes are swarming and fatally draining livestock of their blood in southwest Louisiana, according to a Thursday report. Louisiana-based veterinarian Craig Fontenot said that 300 to 500 cattle have been lost to killer mosquito clouds in a five-parish area following Hurricane Laura, according to the Associated Press. The bugs attack in large swarms, drawing blood until the targeted animal becomes exhausted and bleeds out under their skin. “They’re vicious little suckers,” Fontenot said, the AP reported. The mosquitoes have so far claimed the lives of both horses and cows. Fontenot said a deer rancher in the area lost around 30 of his livestock, according to the AP.

Southeast Texas has also been suffering from a mosquito outbreak. More people will be lost to cleaning large trees from their yards in 95 degree heat than to any virus. Amazing to see 2 foot diameter pine tree trunks snapped in two. by the winds.

Story sounds suspicious to me. Ranchers routinely spray cattle for flies and mosquitoes. Years ago a coworker who grew up in the Houston, TX area said his grandfather used to tell of wrapping a handkerchief around the horse's muzzle to prevent the excessive inhalation of mosquitoes. The most mosquitoes I've ever seen was when I was in Alaska.

Years ago, I read an article about the construction of the Panama Canal. It was very common to add a couple of quarts of oil to a large swamp ( by its very nature , there is no current to spread it very far) but the oil will completely cover the surface with a nearly invisible layer of oil that kills the larvae . The sun will evaporate the oil before it damages much , if any , of the plant life. There was more to the story by I'm too lazy to look it up.

#8. ranchers and farmers routinely put a couple of drops of machine oil on the surface of water troughs during mosquito season. It's not enough oil to harm an animal, but it kills mosquito larvae.

The EPA have approved plans to release genetically modified male mosquitoes in the Florida Keys and I think Harris County, TX. British company Oxitec has produced and tested them. They claim a 95% reduction in female mosquitoes in parts of Brazil. Sounded good until I found out Oxitec is funded by Gates Foundation. He will have figured an angle and I'd bet his spin machine is working overtime creating mosquito panic.

President Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee passed an enormous milestone this week — making contact with their 100 millionth voter through door knocking and phone banking. The RNC says it has knocked on the doors of 12 million potential voters in battleground states since mid-June — that’s around 1 million a week — while the Biden campaign has knocked on zero. The wildly different door-to-door strategies could make all the difference in races up and down the ballot in states like New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Michigan, which were won by razor-thin margins in 2016. And to get there, RNC chief of staff Richard Walters told The Post,

The Woodward Tapes have provided for some interesting dialogue in the country over the last several days. Both “teams” have gone to their corners, one defending the President for the statements made to Woodward and the other criticizing him. I am going to choose a different path to approach this: One of critical thought. Some of the statements made by Democrats go a little something like this: “Trump knew it was more severe than it was and didn’t do anything.” “Trump knew it was deadly and lied to the American people about it.” “Trump knew it was going to spread and made it worse!”

My family used to live in Pennsylvania. Bucks County, one of the key counties to winning the state. Just look to any Republican who won statewide, Donald Trump, Tom Corbett, Pat Toomey—they all either won or did well enough in Bucks County. This year, it could be different. For starters, the rural counties in the “T” region of the state should be sky-high again for Trump. You all know how Pennsylvania is described for national elections; Philly, Pittsburgh, and Alabama in between. The old way for the GOP to win the state might not be the game plan this cycle.

On September 14, 1814, Francis Scott Key penned "The Star Spangled Banner" after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry during the Battle of Baltimore. William Shakespeare famously observed that “all the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.” One of these players, Joe Biden, is currently trying out for the biggest role of his life. Unfortunately, he’s in danger of bombing the audition. He’s flubbing lines, breaking character, and occasionally forgetting the plot. His rambling, often incoherent speech in front of a supportive audience at a church in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on September 3 shows that he’s no longer playing the role of viable presidential candidate. Instead, he’s stumbled into the last scene of Shakespeare’s “strange, eventful history” — “second childishness and mere oblivion.”
