The family behind the gender reveal party that sparked a California wildfire could be hit with charges — and a massive bill to cover the costs of putting out the blazes, authorities said. Cal Fire spokesman Bennet Milloy said the group could be on the hook for millions to cover the hundreds of firefighters, helicopters and planes employed to tackle the El Dorado Fire, the Daily Mail reported. They also could face a “variety of charges,” including arson, which carries a sentence of up to nine years, Milloy said.

How about we end 'Gender Reveal' parties once and for all and call it even. Let's go back to passing out a cigar with a blue or pink band - after the baby is born.

Good! And as it should be. No one cares about what sex your brat is. Don't people ever get tired of showing off?? Time to rectify that age old saying and using it often ... "No one cares, you are just a pimple on the fanny of the world, just like the rest of us".

Terry Barton, the U.S. Forest Service employee who started the 140,000-acre Hayman Fire in 2002 southwest of Denver in Colorado did a lengthy prison term, but, still owes the government $42.5 million in damages. In her case, she started the fire by burning a letter out in the woods that she received from her ex. She is lucky that this is all that happened to her considering the many homes that were burned to the ground due to her marital problems. Those who started this California fire can expect the same outcome. Their lives are over.

I don't have much sympathy for careless people who cause massive damage like this but it seems like you need to prove a real crime was committed. What happens if a backfire from your motorcycle ignites a giant fire. You could be charged with improper maintenance and get a billion dollar lawsuit against you and/or prison time. I could name a dozen more examples like this one. Whoever these people are unless they are Bill and Melinda Gates, they won't have any means to pay this. What then? Prison? That sounds more like the old debtor's prison system.

Another sign of this generation's narcissistic excesses. You can add the ridiculously inconsiderate and expensive "destination weddings" to the list, along with these elaborate "gender reveals". Maybe the tab for this will finally convince these people to get their gender reveals the old fashioned way...when the baby pops out and you can check out the plumbing.

I don't understand the gender reveal party. I thought that fetus's aren't babies and therefore can't have gender. You can kill a fetus but not a baby, right? Once the baby appears, you have to call it an it because someone will get offended if you refer to it as a boy or girl without asking. Once the baby is out, parents can then determine which they want, a boy or a girl. We live in a crazy world with insanity all around us. Life was much simpler when a boy was a boy and a girl was a girl. Also, the "peaceful protesting" members of Antifa are setting fires and destroying businesses and killing people every day in the big cities of America. We need to find out whom to send the bill to for that and then put them away for life. Beam me up!

Causing a destructive fire is no small matter for obvious reasons, whether accidental and unintentional or deliberate and malicious. What interests me most about this one is that it appears to be accidental and unintentional, yet how quickly we are hearing that some of the family may be incarcerated and fined millions to make restitution. In their ignorance, the people apparently had no idea that the smoke machine could cause a fire - and no, ignorance doesn’t absolve of guilt or change the outcome, but there appears to be extenuating circumstances. I haven’t heard any such news about restitution for the maliciously deliberate destruction of businesses and livelihoods by fire in these Democrat controlled cities across the country. To the contrary, the argument is that the destruction is justified. I did read that, not only was a woman’s 30 year old business burned and destroyed by rioters, but the city charged her $200,000 to have what was left of the burned out building removed and cleaned up. There is just something very wrong about all of that to me.

I would be tempted to suggest that the latest affectless, indifferently written Woodward volume is a matter of at most seasonal interest, like the early September appearance of Halloween candy in supermarkets, except that unlike the former, Rage is unlikely to bring pleasure to any living American. This is true with two exceptions.

When we look out across the Universe, we’re also peering back in time. Light only travels at a finite speed across the vastness of space. The light arriving now already completed a multi-light-year journey.Meanwhile, every star only lives for a finite amount of time. The shortest-lived stars may live just 1 or 2 million years total, while others survive for billions to trillions of years. Under ideal conditions on Earth, approximately 9,000 stars possess naked-eye visibilities. The closest one is Alpha Centauri: 4.3 light-years away.
