Biden looks to break out of the basement and
campaign in battlegrounds after Labor Day

After months of political jokes about him hiding in his basement, Joe Biden looks set to join President Trump in returning to the campaign trail in September. "I’m a tactile politician. I really miss being able to, you know, grab hands, shake hands, you can’t do that now. But I can, in fact, appear beyond virtually, in person, in many of these places. That’s what you’re going to be seeing after Labor Day," the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee said Thursday. Biden, the two-term vice president, listed Arizona, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin as likely destinations during a fundraiser hosted by the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association.

This gives us a hint as to the state of the race. 3 months ago, there was no reason to leave the basement, because he was up by double digits and the election was in the bag. He had even started picking his cabinet. The internal polling must be going south when they have to unleash the gaff-tastic grandpa bad finger and pray that he doesnt do something stupid.

Joe’s like the little light in the refrigerator — once the door is closed, he goes out. Does anyone believe Joe’s been beavering away behind that closed door working on his policies? Nope, he just sits in the dark behind his little desk, next to the mustard, waiting patiently for someone to open up the door again — that’s why he’s lasted this long. Joe’s a pretty dim bulb to begin with; I predict a quick burn-out and a hasty retreat to the cool comfort of the condiment shelf.

This article begs for predictions. Given that it is likely that Biden can not handle the rigors of campaigning, these “appearances” will, of necessity, be long on various speakers spewing vetch about Pres. Trump until Joe gets up and makes some excuse - a weak voice or perhaps a waiting helicopter - to claim he can only speak for a minute. He’ll give “look me over. I’m not a racist or Donald Trump” speeches. Sometime between now and November another politically handy device: a fake-news COVID outbreak or Joe adores basement living (“Come on, man. I love it down there”) or reports that Trump supporters have turned feral and the Secret Service can’t guarantee his safety, or cities and suburbs are unpredictably under attack, etc., will abound as to why Joe has to stay in his basement or only speak in the private homes of average citizens (read Democrat operatives) while Kamala Mattress will still be on the campaign trail or at least some sort of trail making private in-person appearances in hotel bedrooms with people like Lawrence O’Donnell, Brian Stelter, and Rachel Maddow. And his supporters still won’t be able to answer the question, “Why do you support Biden?”

Cornpop! It's jesh, look, Joe's going to be wearing a safe and responsible cough burqa throughout his, and that's, it's come on man, it'll be the 600 million unemployed American women who'll get the jobs on his tour. He'll be shaking hands, well, he wants to grab but, that's, it's, you can't do that now because it's, in fact, he's tactile.

#9 Has it but I'll ratchet it up a notch. They will trot the old carcass out there and reel him back in with a fake case of the COVID. Then he'll be painted as the most vibrant man to ever run for office because even at his age he brushed off the plague like nothing happened. That will be because nothing did happen. And his amazing recovery will be too late foe debates and campaigning.

If you'll remember, in 2016, Donald Trump did several events A DAY, usually in front of large crowds that waited hours. Mrs. Clinton would maybe do an event every couple of days, usually before a hand-picked audience or if it was a large crowd, usually because some "headliner" entertainer was cajoled into doing a free show to gin up the count (and many left after the entertainment was done, not to stick around for the boring Clinton "listening tour" to follow -- you know, where Hillary talks and you listen). I understand President Trump now has a day job and COVID-19 has reduced the opportunities for large gatherings, but I expect that his events will be as packed as possible and the Biden events will have to give free beer to even draw flies.

Here we are in the midst of a once-in-a-half-century pandemic, with the economy flattened, millions of people unemployed, and unrest on the streets of our cities. And President-elect Joe Biden says that one of his highest priorities as president will be to reenter the Paris climate accord. President Trump kept his "put America first" promise and pulled the United States out of this Obama-era treaty. Biden wants us back in. Why? Paris is an unmitigated failure. You don't have to take my word for it. National Geographic, a supporter of climate change action, recently ran the numbers and admitted in its recent headline: "Most countries aren't hitting 2030 climate goals."

Teachers unions have been instrumental in keeping American schools online during the pandemic. But some have escalated their positions on reopening to include an array of social justice demands. A set of demands from teachers unions in July, which addressed how to safely reopen schools amid a pandemic, was criticized by The Wall Street Journal editorial board as “political extortion.” The board argued that unions were taking advantage of a health crisis to advance their own ideological agendas and to eliminate competition from charter schools.

President Trump granted a pardon to Michael Flynn, his former national-security adviser, today. Flynn had pled guilty to lying to FBI agents about conversations, during the 2016 transition, with the Russian ambassador about sanctions. Flynn’s pardon should bring to an end one gross violation of the Constitution’s separation of powers, even as it gives rise to groundless accusations of another. Although Flynn had pled guilty, the circumstances of the case had raised serious concerns about whether the government had proceeded properly. The FBI, for example, questioned Flynn even though it did not appear he had violated any law. In May, Attorney General William Barr ordered the case dropped.

President Biden on Monday seemed to forget Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s name at a White House event—calling the Pentagon chief “the guy who runs that outfit over there.” Biden was announcing the nomination of two female generals to lead US military combatant commands. “And I want to thank the sec—the, the, ah former general. I keep calling him general, but my, my—the guy who runs that outfit over there,” Biden said.(Snip) Earlier at the event, Biden mentioned the Defense Department leader by his name, “Secretary Austin,” while appearing to read from a teleprompter.

I’m probably second to none in my dislike for Meghan Markle. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.

Rep. Steve Cohen vowed to renew the push to remove former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover’s name from the bureau’s downtown Washington headquarters, according to an interview released Monday. Appearing on Yahoo! News’ Skullduggery podcast, the Tennessee Democrat said the effort is getting a fresh look after the release of a new movie highlighting the FBI’s secret program to discredit civil rights activists. The Washington Times in 2019 first reported Democrats’ bid to strip the longtime FBI director’s name from the bureau’s headquarters. Mr. Cohen said the impetus to revive the bid is the new movie, “Judas and the Black Messiah.” The movie details

“There must have been a moment, at the beginning, when we could have said –-no. But somehow we missed it.” Tom Stoppard The millions of Americans who were paying attention throughout the 2020 election campaign all became painfully aware of the fact that Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities were slipping and slipping fast. His wife, as the person closest to him, should have been the one to call the campaign quits in order to reduce stress on the man. Instead, apparently so anxious to become the First Lady by any means necessary, Mrs. Biden continued to push her failing husband’s campaign forward as if he were mentally qualified.
