An NBA so woke it cancels itself

Deciding to go Colin Kaepernick one better, the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks players decided to cancel their playoff game to protest the Kenosha, Wisconsin police shooting of Jacob Blake, a career criminal with a warrant out for 3rd degree sexual assault, who was resisting arrest. That act triggered racial grievance riots, along with lootings, destruction, and a likely permanent decline for Kenosha, as usually happens in riot-torn cities. But the NBA didn't want to leave it alone and let justice take its course. Someone in the locker room of the Bucks suggested a game strike, and then the rest of them, lemmings-like, jumped onboard. The act was

The NBA is apparently very popular in China, maybe more fans than in the USA, so I suggest the NBA end all their games in the crummy, racist old USA and move the whole show over to Beijing. Permanently. I know that I won't miss them at all.

Maybe the NBA teams, if they want to stay solvent, need to start hiring more ethnically diverse players who actually understand their job on the court is entertaining their audience, not trying to politically "correct" them.

Fact is that the NBA players couldn't GAS. They've got theirs in the bank. Who probably is concerned are the college players thrashing around trying to MAKE the big payday. Likewise the double and triple a baseball teams. Sorry guys you got so close but the big bucks just aren't there anymore. Better pay attention in your calculus class.

There is an emerging political and economic nexus that is forming between the NBA, Disney, ESPN, and the CCP of China. They all seem to be on the same page to undermine the prospects for young black athletes by cancelling professional and college sports for the foreseeable future to drive anger and foment violence in minority communities. Historians will have to sort this out but its an interesting indirect way to trigger class war and revolution.

Pampered overpaid athletes lamenting their victimhood is not a good look, especially while business owners are sifting through the remains of their smoldering businesses. They are vastly overestimating their importance. The American people have far more important things to worry about right now.

I’ve been waiting 49 years. The Milwaukee Bucks won their first and only championship in 1971. This year was supposed to be the year for them. I won’t be watching or listening. Sports is supposed to be entertainment, something to give is respite from all the problems and stressors we face in our lives. I don’t want to see politics when a game comes on. NBA, MLB, NFL... you have lost me as a fan. I’m sure millions of others are making the same decision.

Maybe this is a good year to give up watching these losers and enjoy life without them. Do they really need more money anyway?

Personally I think it is great that these "woke" and "virtue signaling" organizations are minimizing themselves by kneeling to the anarchist groups roiling the streets. In doing so, the ones who will be hurt the most if income is not as great as it was before will be the very blacks they purport to want to help. My hope is that the NFL, MLB, NBA and all the other woke businesses see significant losses in their future. I know I for one will not support any of them in the future. They are kneeling to Marxism and deserve so support or respect from real Americans.

The NBA is not bringing in any revenue. It's a net loss every time they play. So by canceling the games they don't have to pay to air condition the buildings, for the salaries of vendors and ticket agents and security, they don't have to buy hot dogs that are going to spoil because nobody is there to eat them, etc, etc. They might as well change their name to the RTWL (Racist Thug Woke League). These players are killing the goose that laid the golden egg. When the NBA goes bankrupt, they will all either end up in prison or working as maintenance men at Wal-Mart -- since all they are qualified to do is dribble a ball and toss it in a hoop. Not much demand for that outside of the RTWL!!!!

Much of America has been in some phase or another of a lockdown since the middle of March. Most of us want to know when we can return to normal. But the officials who have cooped us up, shut down businesses, ruined personal finances, outlawed gatherings, and created an environment of fear won’t tell us when we’ll be free of their grip. To call our situation discouraging is to understate the case. Numbers from the Centers for Disease Control’s most recently posted data set are reason for optimism, though. The GOP is famous for its civility, its reasoned arguments, its uplifting messages, its thousand points of light, its doughty flag-waving. Historically, it's always been a bit of an anti-climax to the more raucous version from the Democrats. Not this time. What stood out for me in this convention was not its uplift, which was there, but its ragecat fury, its fight. As Eric Hoffer wrote in his 1979 memoirs: "People need to get angry,' and earlier 'there is a lack of ability to get angry.' The GOP is getting angry. But it was a positive anger, one that explicitly

Has President Trump just eaten Joe Biden's lunch? Sure looks that way based on multiple indicators flashing pro-Trump signals in the wake of the Democratic National Convention. Sure, the leftist press is reporting that Biden's favorability numbers have notched up in the wake of his curiously gaffe-less convention speech, but it's thin gruel. Fact is, that's the only thing they have. But if you look mostly on the right column of the front page of RealClearPolitics, it's pretty clear the trend is President Trump's friend. Apparently the artifice and over-processed convention infomercial, with its many technical sleights of hand (see here and here), didn't fool the voters.

Eight months ago, all but two House Democrats voted to impeach President Donald Trump, and in February every Democratic senator later found him guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors. As the articles of impeachment were heading over to the Senate to face certain defeat, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi intoned that “This president is impeached for life regardless of any gamesmanship on the part of Mitch McConnell. There is nothing the Senate can do to ever erase that.” Her comment prompted “#ImpeachedForLife” to trend on Twitter shortly afterward. Yet when Pelosi spoke at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday, she never

Joe Biden drew a lot of pundit praise on all sides for his Democratic National Convention acceptance speech, signaling just how reasonable and "moderate" and mainstream he is. He loves his country. He prays to God. He thinks America is full of good people. He opposes COVID. He hates dictators. He cares about you. He care about jobs "for everyone."     He'll bring the economy back. "I will be an ally of the light," he insists — "light" being a word he uses 12 times, borrowing from Peggy Noonan's "thousand points of light," who incidentally loved the speech. Has there ever been a political convention so utterly devoid of substance? In her mercifully brief speech on Wednesday, Hillary Clinton said that: “Everyone has a story about Joe’s thoughtfulness and empathy.” Apparently, team Biden required everyone who spoke at the convention to tell their stories. Almost none made it through their few minutes or airtime without exclaiming how empathetic, thoughtful, trustworthy — and other descriptions you normally hear at
