Nearly five million Americans became first-time gun owners in 2020, according to a new report. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the gun industry's trade group, estimates that 17.1 million guns have been sold between January and August with 4.84 million Americans purchasing their first guns. The sales—especially to new owners—represent a significant shift in American attitudes on gun ownership. "This is a tectonic shift in the firearm and ammunition industry marketplace and complete transformation of today’s gun-owning community," Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF senior vice president and general counsel, said in a statement.

Comments:

Article doesn't give political breakdown but does say blacks and women are the first time buyers. I could take a guess.
Liberals face a decision: vote to protect themselves or vote to have their guns confiscated.

I imagine that daily stories of police being defunded, stories of police being ordered to stand down and not responding to 911 calls, assaults, lootings and arson, and the perps being let out without being charged is driving a lot of this. If the police cant or wont enforce the peace, its up to you, the individual to defend yourself. My only question is this. How many of those firearms have or will end up in thr hands of BLM and antifa? So and so's boyfriend, family member, husband, squeeze of the day has a record and cant aquire one themselves.

Democrat Socialists say we must rely on the government for protection. In the next breath they say all cops are racist bastids and police departments should be disbanded, and then they allow Peaceful Protestors to loot and burn at will. Not exactly consistent messaging (they call it "optics"), but then again they and their followers are mentally ill.

A friend is selling off his collection - another 100 back into circulation soon. All gun owners should join the NRA, regardless of the issues, they are still the best information source on gun rights, and best lobbyists, too.

I’m one of the first-time gun owners—and I’m mystified by the shortage of ammo. It seems like the manufacturers could ramp up production quickly to meet practically unlimited demand. I know I’d like to stockpile a couple thousand rounds.

To you new firearm owners, remember that there are two major threats to your gun: 1) Rust. So clean it after you return from the range and keep it lightly oiled. 2) Democrat politicians. So help protect your Second Amendment rights by joining the National Rifle Association of America and never vote for a democrat.

This week, many college students and professors will begin classroom instruction for the first time since March. One Syracuse University professor, however, has already been asked to leave campus for his rhetoric regarding COVID-19 on a class syllabus. Distinguished Professor of Chemistry Dr. Jon Zubieta distributed a Chemistry 411 syllabus that referred to COVID-19 as the “Wuhan Flu” and the “Chinese Communist Party Virus.” Most syllabi now have a reference section dedicated to addressing social distancing, mask requirements, and other COVID-related issues in the classroom. Syracuse students immediately took to social media, labeling the professor as xenophobic and demanding that he be immediately disciplined.

Two Wisconsin police officers are on leave Monday as state authorities investigate why a Black man was shot multiple times in the back as he entered the driver's side door of an SUV, officials said. The man's three children -- 3, 5 and 8 -- were in the car, a family attorney said. Identified by Wisconsin's governor as Jacob Blake, the man is in serious condition and fighting for his life. Attorney Ben Crump, who now represents the Blake family, posted a video of the Sunday evening shooting in Kenosha. The footage spread across social media, sparking protests and leading county officials to institute a

Election Day is fast approaching and the country remains as polarized as ever. Political meaning has been grafted onto every decision we make in our daily lives. To have the wrong opinion is to commit an act of violence. Refusing to take sides is just as harmful, if not more so, than picking the bad side. There is still, however, at least one upcoming event that can unite our fractured nation and bring joy to the hearts of all Americans, regardless of political persuasion. On September 1, the Democratic Party will hold its Senate primary in the state of Massachusetts. The incumbent,

The Trump administration recently rescinded the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule, adopted in the early months of the Obama administration. The rule was an add-on to the 1968 Fair Housing Act. The act was about preventing discrimination in the sale, rental or financing of housing. However, like so much of the distortions that occurred after the civil rights era of the 1960s, this rule is not about preventing discrimination but about using civil rights language to advance a brazen left-wing political agenda. The AFFH rule is war on the lifestyle of the single-family home and American suburban family life.

“Democrat. Republican. Trump. Biden. Sanders. Whatever. A photo leaked from the meeting had a list of what was acceptable and unacceptable at the workplace, but the new audio gives more context to that conversation. WIBW obtained that recording. The meeting references racial graffiti in the locker room. “Some people may wish to express their views on social justice or inequity or equity issues such as black

New York, outside of New York City, went into “Phase 3” in July, and restaurants were able to open back up under severe restrictions, including reduced capacity. Very few of them are doing well under this arrangement. ABC reported that more than 16,000 restaurants have closed permanently. One diner in Seneca County, N.Y., has had enough and took to social media to tell the public what the county is doing to them. The trouble started when a snitch ate a meal at A.J.’s Family Diner and then called the health department to

So, it’s no shocker that when he found out his constitutional right to own firearms was infringed upon, he sued. He filed a lawsuit against the FBI earlier this month. /snip for Tweet/ And now, we’ve learned that Mr. O’Keefe has emerged victorious.

Ingram, a Democrat who runs a massage therapy business, said the war-zone images of his city on TV — armed people running through the streets, burned cars and broken windows — were bolstering President Donald Trump's get-tough message.
