NBA playoff boycott over Blake
shooting 'a way to again try to demand

Toronto coach Nick Nurse addressed the possibility of the Raptors and Celtics players boycotting the first game of their playoff series on Thursday in response to the Jacob Blake shooting. Rumors of a possible boycott were sparked (Snip) “So, for example, this happened in Kenosha, Wisconsin, if I'm correct? Would it be nice if, in a perfect world, we all say we're not playing, and the owner of the Milwaukee Bucks -- that's going to trickle down. If he steps up to the plate and puts pressure on the district attorney's office, and state's attorney, and governors, and politicians there to make real change and get some justice," he said.

I'm certain my definition of change isn't the same as his. The change I want to see is an end to no or low bail or worse, no charges filed against looters and rioters.

According to the Milwaukee Homicide Database on the Journal-Sentinel website, there have been 113 homicides this year, 54 more than this time last year. 74% of the victims are black, 66% of all the homicides have not had charges established against suspects. The Kenosha shooting is sad, but these guys need to look a little closer to home and they'll find a much larger problem that probably has gone largely ignored.

I doubt the owners are very pleased with this threat. The NBA have already opened a can of sh...worms with their China ties and allowing political statements on journeys (BLM is a Marist political organization). Lots of ad money lost if they really boycott the first game. I don't really care and wouldn't watch anyway but watching the league circle the drain is fun.

The thug players are more stupid than I thought. I am happy that they aren't playing. No interruptions in the regular TV schedule. Hopefully the baseball players can join in too. I hear the NFL Detroit Lions refused to practice also because of the shooting. No matter, they suck anyway. If any of these Prima Donna's refuse to do their jobs, pro-rate their big fat contract payments for the missed practices and games. The world will function just fine without professional sports and the thugs who inhabit their courts and fields.

The NBA playoffs inside the Orlando bubble averaged 1.875 million viewers for the first week, down 20 percent from last season, per data from RealGM and ShowBuzz Daily. That said, SportsBusiness Daily reported in February that ratings for regular-season games had declined by 12 percent since the end of the 2018-19 season. Northwestern University’s campus in Evanston is going to feel less crowded this fall, with residence hall capacity reduced to about 70% and more than half of all employees still working from home, school officials said Tuesday. But those estimates didn’t fully assuage concerns from residents that students will instead move into neighborhood apartments and throw raucous parties, potentially accelerating the spread of COVID-19 in a suburb that has so far avoided an uncontrollable outbreak. Residents raised the issue Tuesday evening during a 90-minute Zoom meeting, billed as a “community town hall,” to discuss NU’s plan for repopulating its suburban campus when classes begin next month.

CNN Political Analyst Joe Lockhart criticized Nick Sandmann after the Covington Catholic graduate gave his speech during the Republican National Convention Tuesday night, calling him “a snot-nosed entitled kid from Kentucky.”(Snip for tweet) Sandmann, who was widely villainized after he was confronted during the March for Life protest in 2019, criticized the media for embracing “cancel culture,” and praised President Donald Trump for calling out those in the media with agendas and refusing to “allow them to create a narrative instead of reporting the facts” during his RNC speech. “I look forward to the day the media returns to providing balanced, responsible and accountable news coverage,” Sandmann said.
