WTAM 1100 has fired an anchor who referred to Sen. Kamala Harris as the nation’s “first colored vice presidential candidate” in a news promo Wednesday night.
“We are aware of the reference made on WTAM by Kyle Cornell,” Ray Davis, the station’s program and promotions director said in a statement. “We take this matter very seriously and addressed it immediately. The term used is extremely offensive and does not align with our station’s core values and commitment to the communities we serve. He is no longer with WTAM.”

COLORED - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The term "person of color" (plural: people of color, persons of color; sometimes abbreviated POC) [1] is today primarily used to describe any person who is not considered white in the United States. During various periods in US history, persons of color included African Americans, Latino Americans, Italian Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, Pacific Islander Americans, Middle Eastern Americans, and multiracial Americans.[citation needed]

Person of color - Okeedokee. Colored person - You lose your job. I hope the guys lawyer convinces the judge that the distinction here is vague and unknown to many clueless dumb white people and the firing and loss of one's career is seriously detached from any sense of fair or just.

#3, so if a person of color is POC, that means an airhead of color would be AOC!

Whoops. He got a little ahead of the euphemism treadmill. If only changing the name of something could fix the problem.
Start about 100 years ago, when "colored" was the polite and respectful alternative. That's around when the NAACP was founded. The 1960s began to upend everything. When MLK Jr gave his "I Have a Dream" speech, "Negro" was proper. (A decade ago school children (of color) protested to me that MLK was using offensive language in that speech.) Then we ran through Black, Afro American, and African-American (with the hyphen) and African American (without the hyphen), and now, in a bid to expand the aggrieved community and acknowledge that not all dark people are African American, and not all African Americans are dark people (see Mrs. John Kerry), we arrive at People of Color, the rhetorical equivalent of Colored People.
But not yet, quite. We've got to run through yet another expansion, this time into acronymic BIPOC, first.

Firing the guy is rather harsh, wouldn’t you say? They could have sat him down and discussed the matter with him and let it go. His firing is either overreacting to show virtue and purity for the cause or they needed an excuse to fire him because he had low ratings.

Isn't 'colored' the standard locution for non-African dark-skinned people? That's how they make the distinction in South Africa.
Mandela was black, Mahatma Gandhi was colored.

No wonder our Republic is in trouble. The PC crowd has taken over and because most Americans are polite and respectful and kind people, they have gone along with it. It started out small and is growing like a cancer. We have to put Pres. Trump back in the WH or we all lose our freedoms.

FTA - “Colored” is an antiquated term that is considered offensive and derogatory because of its association with slavery and racist Jim Crow laws that were designed to keep Black people segregated and disenfranchised from white America. In its stylebook, the Associated Press says the word is permissible “only in names of organizations or in rare quotations when essential.”
As you read that, imagine the sound of a car engine trying to turn over with a low battery.

Because I'm a 77 year old relative nobody, and have been retired for 22 years, I can be comfortably non-PC without worrying about job loss. I'm also at that point in life, where I don't care what people think about me!

Guess the station bosses do not know that the reason ole "heels up" was picked is because she is colored
Her father said, tho, that she is not black. The dems refer to her as a person of color. Meaning she is colored.
Ray Davis did a great job. He did not maker a mistake. He was truthful. Kamel Harris wants to be know as a colored person, its an essential requirement for ole joes VP

Minorities refer to themselves as 'people of color', yet when they are referred to as 'colored' they balk and people get fired. There is simply no appeasing the Left. They continually abuse the freedom of speech to the detriment of all.

Mindless. Mindless firing on the part of the radio station. More looking for racism where racism does not exist.

This is no more than politically correct BULLYING.
It is, verbally, like painting a stripe across the middle portion of a sidewalk.... say it is a 8-ft wide sidewalk, and you were to paint a stripe across the middle 4-ft, then bully people to make them walk AROUND the stripe, force them away from the middle and FORCE them to walk on the 2-ft unstriped portion on one side or the other.
That's ALL this is....BULLYING! Call it out as such!
