Comedian Bill Maher argued that evidence shows “it’s possible” former President Bill Clinton visited convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s sex island where underage girls were offered up to his rich and powerful friends.Speaking with former Clinton White House adviser Paul Begala on his HBO show “Real Time,” Maher discussed the recently unsealed court documents showing that alleged Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre claims to have witnessed Bill Clinton at the island, and that “two young girls” were there also, though the former president’s spokesperson has denied the accusation.

The Left projects more than a drive-in movie theater. The latest case in point is the febrile effort to stoke the “Trump won’t split” riff.
The Hill on Monday offered a prime example of this regressive riff, this time emanating from MSNBC columnist Mike Barnicle during an appearance on “Morning Joe.” Fraught with intimations of a prospective civil war, Barnicle’s analysis proffered both an electoral dilemma and his solution for it:
One thing we all learned in the year 2000 is that Republicans are good at fixing the way we count ballots in the country. Now, with this furor over mail-in votes, we could be sitting down for Thanksgiving dinner

President Donald Trump is moving to suspend payroll taxes and extend expired unemployment benefits after negotiations with Congress on a new coronavirus rescue package collapsed.Trump signed four executive orders related to what he called 'China virus relief' during a press conference at his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Saturday afternoon. It came hours after the White House signaled that Washington's gridlock had compelled him to act as the pandemic undermined the country's economy and the November election nears. Trump had threatened to bypass elected lawmakers during a briefing on Friday night, saying: 'If Democrats continue to hold this critical relief hostage I will act

I have spent my professional life defending the First Amendment and the free-speech rights it enshrines. It is the bulwark of all our freedoms.
The attacks on it are proliferating alarmingly. Now, the most powerful social media platforms—which function as today’s public square—are arrogantly silencing a U.S. president.
If a president’s right to be heard in the public square may be freely assaulted, who is safe? This is extremely dangerous to self-government and the perpetuation of our civil rights.
Yet politicians, many of them bought off by those social-media giants, do nothing. And the news media, which in the days of more objective journalism boldly championed free speech,

As my colleague Bonchie wrote last night, President Trump executed what may be the best media trolling of his tenure during a press conference he held Friday at his Bedminster, NJ golf club. Trump called the gathering a “peaceful protest” when asked by journalists about some supporters in the crowd who reportedly were not adhering to CDC guidelines on social distancing and wearing masks.
Another Trump quote from the presser getting a lot of attention in the usual left-wing media circles this weekend is a moment where he was caught on a hot mic talking to some club members in attendance

President Trump has signed an Executive Order extending certain Wuhan China Virus relief funding and restrictions. As I noted in an earlier piece, the President felt it necessary to take decisive action due to the determined efforts by the Democrat leadership to lard up legislation with irrelevant amendments and refuse any compromise.
In a brutally honest assessment, the President stated that he and the Republicans have been negotiating in good faith, while Speaker Pelosi and Leader Schumer were obstructing progress. President Trump spent a significant amount of time excoriating Democrat efforts to “steal the election,”

The Seattle City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday in support of police budget proposals that would lay off 100 police officers, despite objections from the city's mayor and police chief.
The city council began to reexamine the police department's budget earlier this summer in response to anti-police protests. Mayor Jenny Durkan (D.) and police chief Carmen Best criticized the most recent set of proposals, which would also end the removal of homeless people from the city's streets and cut salaries for police leadership.
Durkan said the cuts would hit the "most diverse class" of officers the city has ever had, as police union rules mandate that layoffs are determined by seniority.

Florida’s hanging chads from the 2000 Bush vs Gore contest will look like a walk in the park compared to what it will take to declare a winner this year.
COVID-19 has completely upended how votes are cast and counted. It is inevitable that in competitive states such as Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania delays will happen in getting to the final tally. This is why it is so critical that election officials, starting with Secretaries of State, make it convenient to vote and put in place proper safeguards from the start.

PDD-25, as the document was called, sought to implement “assertive multilateralism” to address all global conflicts with U.N. peacekeepers. You know there’s an election this summer because every time you greet a neighbor on the street saying, “It’s a nice day,” he answers irritably with whatever random information he just read in the press: “But what about the damn unemployment figures?” Last night I went to get an ice cream and when I asked the woman at the counter for “two balls,” she smiled at me knowingly, flashed me a V with her fingers, and winked furtively while whispering, “Yessir! Keep America Great!” It took me a while to realize that she was speaking to my electoral testosterone.

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar’s trip to Taiwan is angering Beijing. Good.
Azar will be the highest-ranking US official to visit the island since 1979 and the first US cabinet official to go in six years. China views Taiwan as a part of itself, has sought to isolate it and hopes to regain control there eventually, perhaps by force.
By dispatching Azar, President Trump is delivering a clear message of resistance to China’s increasingly egregious behavior.

SALT LAKE CITY – Some Black Lives Matter protesters in Salt Lake City could face up to life in prison if they’re convicted of splashing red paint and smashing windows during a protest, a potential punishment that stands out among demonstrators arrested around the country and one that critics say doesn’t fit the alleged crime.
The felony criminal mischief charges are more serious because they carry a gang enhancement. Prosecutors said Wednesday that’s justified because the protesters worked together to cause thousands of dollars in damage, but watchdogs called the use of the 1990s-era law troubling, especially in the context of criminal justice reform and minority communities.

More than two dozen U.S. senators asked the Justice Department Friday to expand its investigation into Planned Parenthood Federation of America's (PPFA) fetal tissue practices, the latest effort to push the DOJ about an investigation it has mostly kept under wraps since 2017.
A separate letter sent to the Treasury Department, requested an investigation into Planned Parenthood's use of funds from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), established by the CARES Act earlier this year. "We urge you to investigate not only the extent to which Planned Parenthood was involved in the sale of fetal tissue,

In April of 2005, Sen. Barack Obama took to the floor of the United States Senate and passionately spoke out against Republican efforts to end the filibuster.
Then a rising star in the Democratic Party, Obama noted that despite the pressure partisans might feel, it was imperative to “rise above an ‘ends justify the means’ mentality because we’re here to answer to the people—all of the people—not just the ones wearing our party label.”
Last week, Obama made precisely the opposite argument during John Lewis’ funeral, contending that eliminating a vital check on partisan power was justified as long as Democrats got the policies they desired.

The first time I was wounded, I bled little and required no serious treatment, but the soldier next to me, who bore the full brunt of the rocket-propelled grenade that struck our tank, was killed instantly.
He volunteered—begged, in fact—to be on the mission that became his last because he loved his job, loved his fellow soldiers, and loved his country.
His last act was preparing to fire his machine gun at an enemy position to protect our convoy. It was a final, fatal act of love. For that, he was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart.
I’m reminded of this by the approach of Purple Heart Day on Aug. 7.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order that would encourage the production of certain drugs and medical supplies in the U.S. following shortages during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The order urges purchasers to buy American-made products and loosens federal drug-safety and environmental regulations that the administration says disadvantage domestic producers, among other measures.
“I want to lay out my vision to bring millions and millions more jobs and thousands more factories back to American shores, where they belong,” Trump said

A letter from the son of a Holocaust survivor:
Let’s look at this man for one second.
Walking back to the White House after a long day.
A 74-year-old man coming back home from work at 2AM while most men his age are retired in their vacation homes.
He comes back after a long day that probably started before the sun rose and gets back home exhausted with his tie open and hat in his hand feeling that an accomplished day is finally over.
That amazing man is in the age of many people’s grandfathers, great grandfathers or my grandfather when he passed away,

In footage of two instances that went viral on Thursday and Friday, Christians gathered in the government-approved venues of a Pennsylvania Wal-Mart and a Las Vegas casino to engage in the worship that authorities have deemed non-essential.
In a Thursday tweet that was retweeted by Vice President Mike Pence, Faith and Freedom Coalition Chairman Ralph Reed posted footage of a worship service in a Vegas casino, writing, “Packed house at #EvangelicalsForTrump prayer & praise event in Las Vegas. NV Governor banned church services but casinos can operate at 50% capacity. So we are praying in a casino.” [video]

Attorney General William Barr directed his federal protective detail on Thursday evening to make a u-turn so he could get out and thank pro-police demonstrators that were waving flags at an intersection.
“That time you’re driving in Virginia and the Attorney General spots a group of people in front of a police precinct showing their support for the police,” Barr spokesperson Kerri Kupec wrote in a tweet that featured a video of Barr meeting with the people.
According to Kupec, Barr said to his FBI detail: “Can we make a quick U-Turn? I want to jump out and thank those people.”

MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace asked Friday if Republican senator Ron Johnson (Wis.) was in "cahoots" with Russia because of his efforts to "actively denigrate" Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
"The intelligence community has reached an assessment, and it says this: Russia is actively working to, quote, denigrate Joe Biden. My question for you is Ron Johnson, senator from Wisconsin, is also actively working to denigrate Joe Biden. Are they in cahoots?" she asked MSNBC analyst Jeremy Bash.
"I don't know if they're in cahoots, but a senator, an American citizen has the right to participate in the political process," Bash said. "The former KGB operative Vladimir Putin does not have the right."

Wilbraham and Hampden, Massachusetts, enjoyed record attendance in support of law enforcement officers at Thursday’s Back the Blue rally. Two Massachusetts towns served as the beginning and end points of a mobile rally to support local police. Participants started in Wilbraham, following the “rolling rally” as it traveled to its destination in Hampden. Local news station WWLP spoke to rally organizer Richard Howell about the importance of the event. "I think it’s important for every free citizen to get up support their local police departments, support their own rights,” Howell said. “Get involved in your school districts, get involved in your own local municipal governance.”

Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday revealed a plan to buy properties around the city and turn them into permanent affordable housing, after moving more than 10,000 homeless people into hotels during the COVID-19 pandemic and shaming rich residents who have left the city as 'fair weather friends'. At a press conference on Friday, he did not say which type of buildings the city had its eye on and the city is refusing to give more details, citing 'privacy concerns'. Blasio only said there was an 'opportunity to get creative' now when it came to finding housing for New York's homeless.
