President Donald Trump is moving to suspend payroll taxes and extend expired unemployment benefits after negotiations with Congress on a new coronavirus rescue package collapsed.Trump signed four executive orders related to what he called 'China virus relief' during a press conference at his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Saturday afternoon. It came hours after the White House signaled that Washington's gridlock had compelled him to act as the pandemic undermined the country's economy and the November election nears. Trump had threatened to bypass elected lawmakers during a briefing on Friday night, saying: 'If Democrats continue to hold this critical relief hostage I will act

I wish that there was NO extension of these handouts, but I also know that a lot of people who have been forced out of their jobs, and have bills to pay.
We need to end this totally WRONG interference with people's lives and businesses.

I think Trump just forced the dems to sue to stop benefits from going to Americans out of work.

Who wins: Struggling middle class Americans thrown out of work. Small business. College students who are paying for an education they are being denied.
Who loses: Mismanaged Democrat states and cities with high taxes and out-of-control spending. Teacher's unions. Lay-a- bouts who would rather have a government hand out than a job. Mail-in voting proponents.

Suspend as in rescind? Not defer? That I can live with.

The dems will sue - that's all they know to defeat Trump. I actually heard Schumer say if Trump did this, it would make things worse for Americans. They hate Trump more than they love America. Sad...

Once again Trump was between a rock and hard place concerning this Chinese virus. I really don't think he wanted to do this, and had hoped the economy would have bounced back by now, but with the election three months away, not doing this is something the Marxists could pound Trump with until election day. The Marxists were in no hurry to pass anything.

The democrat wet dream of two trillion dollars to rebuild cities burnt to the ground by their dim leadership was too much for anybody to accept. Now all of those mayors will have angry mobs rioting on top of the rioting because they did not rebuild what the rioters destroyed. There's some Social Justice for you.

Brilliant move. Rather than handing out checks, this EO lets workers keep their money and also disincentivizes people to stay on unemployment who were making more than working because of the extra money added to their benefits.
Challenging this EO is lousy optics for the dems. Instead of yet another round fig leaf relief bills filled with pork for every leftist hobby horse project, dems now look like they are intentionally harming ordinary Americans just because they hate Trump. They will be forced to cut a deal.
BTW, good luck with CJ Roberts attempting to reconcile the constitutionality of Barry’s DACA against the supposed unconstitutionality of this EO.
Win-win for Trump and the American people. Lose-lose for the swamp on this one.

Trump is ALWAYS one step ahead. I am a retired NY public school teacher. I know for a fact that the $100,000 cut-off leaves out most senior teachers, in NY at least, and it certainly leaves out the feckless union leadership, busy campaigning to close the schools.

I would have guessed that a President didn't have authority for that $400 and to stay evictions on federally backed mortgages. But I emphasize the 'guessed' word.

Congress controls the purse. It couldn't be any clearer. It always amazes me now many "conservatives" are fine with these unconstitutional expansions of executive power, as long as it's "their guy" who's doing it.

Congress couldn't make a decision, so the President made one. Think how much of Nancy's list was cut off.
I believe he said the money came from money already approved for the states.

This will go to the Supreme Court and Roberts will vote the $400 EO 'Unconstitutional' and probably the same on the Payroll Tax EO. He could go either way on the Student Loan EO. One could argue it would actually save Collection Costs on Delinquent Accounts. The Eviction EO doesn't directly involve Federal Funds so it would be a hard stretch for Roberts to vote against it. Maybe he'll simply re-write the Constitution again. One can never tell what a person without convictions will do.
Mr Trump's defence will be that he's simply Repurposing the One Trillion Unspent Funds from Previous Virus Relief Appropriations. That type of POTUS action has been previously ruled Constitutional, re the Wall.
Roberts' negative vote(s) will be cause for Impeachment Actions against him in the upcoming GOP Controlled Congress. One can only hope!
POTUS and his Advisers have 'Wargamed' this six ways to Sunday and know they have a Politically Winning Hand all across the board!
Question: How many Low/Middle Income Democrat Voters will now Vote GOP this November to include POTUS, US Senators/Representatives and possibly even Governors?
President Trump just fed a 'PooPoo Sandwich' to PeeLousy and Plugs and backed them into a corner of their own making.
This is a D-Day Event for all DemoCraps........
