The Seattle City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday in support of police budget proposals that would lay off 100 police officers, despite objections from the city's mayor and police chief.
The city council began to reexamine the police department's budget earlier this summer in response to anti-police protests. Mayor Jenny Durkan (D.) and police chief Carmen Best criticized the most recent set of proposals, which would also end the removal of homeless people from the city's streets and cut salaries for police leadership.
Durkan said the cuts would hit the "most diverse class" of officers the city has ever had, as police union rules mandate that layoffs are determined by seniority.

Have at it Seattle. Show America how it’s done. Just don’t send us the bill.

Leftist arithmetic: Fewer police + reduced police salaries + more homeless on city streets = Democrat utopia.
Check.

And all the police officers are itching to be the ones who are laid off.

With so many people being mugged by democrats, you'd think they'd learn.

This council is brain dead or they are listening to the voters. If it’s the former, it is what it is. If it’s the latter, Then the voters are brain dead. I’m waiting for when the city comes begging for money to clean things up.

Just the tip of the ice berg if more Democrats are elected in November.

Yeah, the democrats are so intelligent, release convicts by the thousands and gut the police forces. They are aggressively trying to mimic Obama and "transform" (destroy) America.

Dallas police department is short about 1500 officers. Lot's of openings, especially for young officers, which we all know will be the one's cut (union seniority).

Lay them off and hire them back as Civilian Vigilantes. No more suits against the city and the cops.

Hopefully, those 100 police officers will try to hire on with small town police departments farther to the east. Those dedicated men and women are wanted and appreciated in American towns. (Those who still honor the US Constitution.)

You have exactly as much security as you brought with you.
And now, the police aren't EVER coming in many places.

I lived in the suburbs of Seattle for 30 years. It is a mecca for perverts and weirdos. It sounds like they all got elected to the city council.

#17 is correct. The people now in charge of Dem run cities have no idea of basic economics. It might take a few years but their tax base will leave. Human nature is what it it is and people will always be interested in their own well being. Even the limousine liberals will eventually leave the city and it will be a bankrupt shell of what was once a decent city. The left is like a swift growing cancer and eventually destroys its host.

This sort of blatant insanity is scaring the heck out of people. If you don't think that the police will be coming if you need them....what do you do? Buy a gun and some ammo. Both are nearly impossible to obtain these days. Handgun ammo does not exist in online stores or on real store shelves. I have checked a LOT.
I finally was able to locate a box of top quality .38 Special hollowpoint loads to give to a niece who is going off to her first USAF post in a couple of weeks. I helped her train up with her .38 Smith & Wesson, and gave her a dozen good self defense loads for the interim, but it has been nearly impossible to get any handgun ammo. I don't know if she will be staying on base or not. If on base, she may have to leave the gun with her parents here in town until she gets her own place.
I ordered this ammo online 6 weeks ago, and it just came in. The site claimed it was "in stock".....yeah, right.
