Seattle City Council Votes
to Lay Off 100 Police Officers

Original Article

The Seattle City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday in support of police budget proposals that would lay off 100 police officers, despite objections from the city's mayor and police chief. The city council began to reexamine the police department's budget earlier this summer in response to anti-police protests. Mayor Jenny Durkan (D.) and police chief Carmen Best criticized the most recent set of proposals, which would also end the removal of homeless people from the city's streets and cut salaries for police leadership. Durkan said the cuts would hit the "most diverse class" of officers the city has ever had, as police union rules mandate that layoffs are determined by seniority.

#17 is correct. The people now in charge of Dem run cities have no idea of basic economics. It might take a few years but their tax base will leave. Human nature is what it it is and people will always be interested in their own well being. Even the limousine liberals will eventually leave the city and it will be a bankrupt shell of what was once a decent city. The left is like a swift growing cancer and eventually destroys its host.

This sort of blatant insanity is scaring the heck out of people. If you don't think that the police will be coming if you need them....what do you do? Buy a gun and some ammo. Both are nearly impossible to obtain these days. Handgun ammo does not exist in online stores or on real store shelves. I have checked a LOT. I finally was able to locate a box of top quality .38 Special hollowpoint loads to give to a niece who is going off to her first USAF post in a couple of weeks. I helped her train up with her .38 Smith & Wesson, and gave her a dozen good self defense loads for the interim, but it has been nearly impossible to get any handgun ammo. I don't know if she will be staying on base or not. If on base, she may have to leave the gun with her parents here in town until she gets her own place. I ordered this ammo online 6 weeks ago, and it just came in. The site claimed it was "in stock".....yeah, right.

Joe Biden is dithering. He was supposed to tap his running mate the first week of August, but has now postponed the announcement to Aug. 10. It’s the first consequential decision of his campaign, one that could determine whether he wins or loses in November, and he’s blowing it.The extension, and the ongoing uncertainty it suggests, casts Biden as wobbly. It also reduces any zip that the eventual announcement might have. It’s not a great beginning for a candidate constantly tweeting that the country needs “strong leadership.”Granted, that’s a lot to read from a one-week delay. But, after all, we don’t know much about Biden 2020’s governing style

By his own admission, Joe Biden concedes he is merely a placeholder, telling a fundraising audience in May: “I view myself as a transition candidate.” This “transition” increasingly means a statist agenda that empowers a political rodeo of radical officeholders, reverses our country back toward globalism, and encourages street-level chaos across our land. In any administration, personnel choices often compel policy. In the case of Biden, his woke orbit is dominated by agitators. The presumptive nominee’s “Unity Task Force” recommendations -- compiled with the input of prominent progressives -- read like a wish list from the faculty lounges of Ivy League schools

There is a good reason why former Vice President Joe Biden’s looming selection of a running mate has become so freighted with emotion and expectation, and it is not just that the Democratic presidential nominee is not, shall we say, entirely and always there. The anticipation is heightened because this will be Mr. Biden’s first personnel selection for an administration that is likely to be marked by a difficult and durable civil war over its ideological preferences. For most Americans, this vice presidential selection is more important than usual because they understand and even sometimes have witnessed that Mr. Biden appears to be in the midst of an unfortunate cognitive decline.

President Trump seems determined to sow confusion and chaos ahead of the 2020 election. Laurence Tribe says the president is trying to make the election ‘look chaotic’ and mentions a ‘fail safe’: President Nancy Pelosi. "There is a procedure -- it's a very elaborate procedure -- in every state for resolving disputes by the date of the so-called safe harbor on December 8th," Tribe explained. "So, really, all of the efforts that Trump is making to both pretend that he can extend the date of the election, which everyone understands he can't do that. That date is set at November 3rd by act of Congress."

The document shows the FBI used a security briefing of then candidate Donald Trump and top aides to gather possible evidence for Crossfire Hurricane, its code name for the Russia investigation. What is astonishing is that the media has refused to see what should be one of the biggest stories in decades. The Obama administration targeted the campaign of the opposing party based on false evidence.
