Last week, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the Canada-US border would remain closed for most people until at least Aug. 21, with additional extensions of the border closure possible beyond that date. Basically, it means that non-essential travel can’t take place between the two countries right now, which is no surprise given how the situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic in the US is continuing to spiral out of control. (Snip) Canadian truckers can still continue their work as normal — but, increasingly, they don’t want to.

What you're NOT seeing...
You're not seeing hazmats burning piles of bodies in the Walmart parking lot...
THAT'S a pandemic, young fella.

I had the same reaction OP. For many, there have been far too many differing opinions as to what the appropriate behavior is. Reasonable people sort the wheat from the chaff and get on with life. If you have a European view of the world, you wait for the government to tell you what to do.

This virus is not acting like a normal virus. A normal virus loses strength during warmer weather, and disappears. The fact that we're almost through the month of July and the hardest hit areas are in the south, doesn't make sense. The reason may be because this virus was created in the lab to survive conditions which would kill an otherwise normal virus. A man made virus. Something many people suspected all along.

Someone should tell the 'truckers' to take a Midol and lie down for a while.

Either you are essential (do your job!) or you are not (quit!). Make your choice.
My family has known 1 person, just 1, who had Covid. Sadly he died... not from Covid but from suicide because of the isolation Covid had required of him. Without his support network, his mental health and addiction issue overcame him and he shot himself. We miss him very much.

I went to a small town park Wednesday evening and was greatly encouraged. I saw high school age teams playing baseball and softball while adults watched. Others were playing and fishing. Not everyone has drunk the kool aid.

The statistics cited in the article are highly misleading as the population of the USA is about ten times the population of Canada.

As an Alaskan, I marvel at how different Canada is. I can understand why Mark Steyn moved to the USA.

How many riots in Canada over the past two months? How many times did spittle-flecked masses congregate in large numbers to tear off masks and tear down statues? Canada is physically larger, more isolated, has fewer big cities and international airports, and has a much lower population density. For all of that, Canada's numbers are within a similar range when compared per capita. If Cuomo was premier of Ontario, they would be the same.
And if we're touting success in managing Covid-19, Canada isn't even in the running. Let's talk Hong Kong: A city of 7.6 million people with one of the highest if not THE highest population densities in the world, entirely dependant on public transport, and right next to the Asian flu Grand Central Station in mainland China. Total deaths?
Nineteen. Not 19 per million. Just 19. Without a full lockdown.
Spin on that, Fauci.
