It hasn’t escaped the notice of most Americans that, to put it mildly, things in the country are not going well. But one group of people hasn’t seemed to pick up on it, yet: Congress. To be more precise, the Republican-led Senate. As American cities burn, police departments across the country come under assault, the culture feasts on itself in a frenzy of Twitter-driven cancellations, Google controls the presentation of information for 90 percent of the world, Twitter gets hacked by the Saudi government, Planned Parenthood reaps millions in CARES Act money it wasn’t supposed to get ...

I couldn’t agree more! My Senator, Graham, has been sitting on his arse as head of the Senate Judiciary Committee. With the exception of his defense of Kavanaugh, he has done nothing. No hearings into Feinstein’s corruption of those hearings. No hearings regarding Russian Collusion by our Dem government officials, although he suddenly claims to be stepping up now. A bit late as far as I’m concerned.
But I will have to vote for him a the while holding my nose if only to support President Trump.

There is an election coming up, and they feel that success is not to take a position on anything at this critical time.
Bottom line: Donald Trump is on his own. Republican senators, for the most part, are swamp creatures, but some of them are still slightly better than democrats.

We have two political parties in Congress. One party runs things, they are called Democrats. The other party is the wanna-be party, the RINO party. The Dems want to pass lots of laws and run everything. The RINOs want to get paid the big salaries and skim off as many campaign contributions as possible, while engaging in as little law-making as possible.
The only real Republican in town is Donald J. Trump. And you can see how he is treated. He is a pariah. An outsider. An unbeliever in the Deep State. An independently wealthy man, who does not have to skim any campaign contributions, having money enough of his own. He is hated, despised, loathed, and dreaded.
The RINOs are worthless and despicable.

Again, the lessons of my high school history teacher, back in the 1970s, rings true.
Always expect the national Republican party to screw up a sure thing. (The "establishment class" wasn't in vogue then except for the remainders of the 60s Hippie class).
I have usually been pretty safe following his advice. RIP, Mr. Shriver!

You know what's really exhausting? Mentally screaming at the Republicans to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING!!! See what I mean? That was exhausting.
Is there at least one pair of functioning testicles in the entire lot of them? Has anyone heard even a peep from any of them since the Democrat Insanity Tour started? I haven't checked the backs of our milk cartons yet to see if there's a reward for information leading to the discovery of their current secret location. I'll go the the Fridge right now...it's my last hope.

FTA - "What voters desperately want to see—what they need to see—is Republicans unbowed in the face of woke assaults and progressive tantrums."
"unbowed".
Leader McConnell, I suspect you may prefer to hand over the gavel to Chuckie. But, please don't. Think of us and what will happen to the President and America before you hand it over. You and your caucus have about 14 weeks to show us you care. You've done good with judicial appointments and some other things, but, we need you now more than ever. Deliver soonest.

Asleep?? No. Don't think so.
COMPLICIT is much more the case. Nothing more, nor less, than a department in the Uni-Party. Rather like a mix of the Loyalists and neutrals during the American Revolution.
A pox and a plague and a murrain be upon the Republicrats.

The assault is coming on many fronts. COVID-19 is much more a political issue than a matter of health. Our inner cities have been destroyed by rioting mobs who loot and burn. Businesses have been decimated and many will never recover. Funded, armed and organized BLM and Antifa are waging war and are virtually unopposed. Black on black crime is completely out of control and the mayors of our once great cities are turning a blind eye as thugs murder each other, including children. Our inner cities are war zones. An attention seeking little fop with few successes to his record has virtually and single handedly destroyed this once vibrant economy. The CDC, Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx have isolated and divided this country like never before. They insisted upon social distancing and wearing useless masks. We no longer easily communicate or even trust one another. Our children have not been in school for months and many districts have no plans to resume in September. This is an outrage and not supported by science. None of it is supported by science. Our Democrat governors and mayors have become tyrants and the citizens in their states have suffered the consequences. Our police have been ordered to stand down in the face of unbelievable violence. They are no longer even permitted to do their job....enforce the law!!
This country is quite simply an unimaginable mess and the recovery will be long and arduous and for many impossible. Lives have been lost and none of it has anything to do with the career criminal George Floyd. Businesses and government officials pander to the likes of Marxist organizations like BLM who brag that their goal is to burn down the system. Memorials are defaced and destroyed in an attempt to erase history. History is fact!!
Harry Truman once said “The buck stops here.” HERE being at the Resolute Desk. The President that I supported and voted for sits behind that desk now. Enough said........

It's Rachel Bovard and others like her "asleep at the wheel". They think Republicans matter, that Republican leadership is conservative, that they will do something to stop this neverending encroachment on American traditional life. She and others deny the facts presented them...
There is a UNIPARTY. If you don't believe that, well, you can stop here and fret. That UNIPARTY represents, as #1 says, a donor class that promotes "big government and secular globalist goals of coastal power concentrations" for fun and profit. They're really not into ending abortion or protecting your 2A rights. Those are just the shiny objects to keep followers following. Notice there is never an end to these issues, as well as others. That's for a reason.
As for these national Republicans doing something...they are. They're trying to Dump Trump without your taking notice. Believe it, or not.

Several of the people in leadership positions in the Senate dislike President Trump nearly as much as Shumer and Pelosi. They will not lift a finger to help the president succeed. Perhaps for some it is a move of self-preservation because of their perception that it may be dangerous to their own future, but whatever the reason it exposes them as RINOs. Senator McConnell is doing great work pushing judicial nominations through the process, but he has accomplished little else. At the time when we need leaders we appear to have glorified bureaucrats instead.

Demoncrats with holding government dollars from a State that won't let men in the girl's bathroom was OK. Cutting funds to law breaking sanctuary cities and states, unconstitutional according to some 0bie judge in Hawaii. Now, the despicable Di Fi wants to withhold government funds from any state that doesn't mandate face masks, and no one will see a problem with that. I say, ignore the 0bie judges and withhold all government funding from states that won't get their acts together and act like they're part of the USA. Let Soros finance the rebel states, since he's paying so much to have them thumb their noses at the rest of the country.

Nuttin' new here. Just bidness as usual. Remember, it's the "Most Exclusive Club in the World." Cruz, Paul, and Kennedy are 'bout the only fighters left. Cruz for the Supreme Court?

Conservatives like me choosing to put my head in the sand for decades about my party has hurt us terribly.
The Senate Republicans get energized and consistently passionate about one thing - reelection for themselves or their fellow incumbents-in-good-standing. Look how Mitch and the gang were DAILY begging us to put their pal Jeff back
in (for life.) The rest of the time its on Hannity spouting limp talking points about evil Democrats. Do they go on Lou Dobbs? Do they appear on Tucker? NO WAY. We get it, Dems are beyond evil. You Mr Senator in your tailored suit are paid to fight them like the Constitutional patriots you pretend to be. Lou & Tucker do not accept their excuses and oh my, for decades, where in majority or minority, there are always excuses for doing so so little. So, we note only the stand up guys will go on Tucker. Blount, Cruz, Rubio? No way.
My Senator Cruz is only marginally better. He does not compliment Trump unless he has to and never more than is really necessary so he can claim loyalty. He is a terribly slick and clever lawyer from top of his head to the soles of his feet. I think SCOTUS is best fit for him and I would support that. He and Heidi firmly in the Bush camp back here in Texas and its where they will probably stay.

GOP hasn't got excited because the Democrats would not carry a vote in the House. There is no need for additional laws concerning the demonstrations around the country. None. You cannot write a law for common sense, just doesn't work. Democrats are pushing the unrest in slight of hand actions. For instance Pelosi demand that 11 statues be removed from the Congressional Rotunda. That's a signal to the demonstrators that it's OK to take down statues around the country. That's slight of hand.

I'm not sure which is worse: Having them asleep at the wheel, or having them 'Woke'.
Either way, they are not on our side. The Senate is a Fraternety / Sorority, and they love their most despised member (or ex-member) more than they love their most beloved outsider.

The GOP Senate had better wake up and defend themselves as the leftist and liberal Democrats and their Antifa and BLM auxiliaries are going to run them out of DC otherwise.

Your just noticing now that the Senate is missing in action? However, what exactly is the Senate supposed to do? It's like blaming Trump for the Chinese virus. What exactly has Trump done to make matters worse, and what exactly are these critics of Trump's action concerning the virus would they do differently?

I have never have disagreed with a premise more than I have with this one. Doesn't the author see the Pubbie Senate leaders Fightin' Roy Blunt, Bulldog John Thune, and Battlin' John Cornyn out there every day - - year after year - - fighting for our country, our heritage, and our President. No matter where you look - - there they are - - on the Senate floor - - on the Capitol steps - - on cable TV - - on internet blogs - - tirelessly, endlessly - - where do they get the energy? It's exhausting just watching those three brave men - - fighting on our behalf!
