hoping President Trump defeats himself

The Biden campaign has been lucky most of all, but it’s also been smart — at least smart enough.
To go, as Joe Biden did, from left for dead to sweeping to the nomination and quickly thereafter emerging as the favorite in November is a run of success that would be the envy of any national politician.
It’s easy to consider this a mere accident given the weakness of Biden’s opponents, first a socialist in the Democratic primaries who had a ceiling on his support and now an incumbent president whose ratings have sagged.

FTA: Team Biden "has avoided serious mistakes and demonstrated an understanding of the basic political terrain and its candidate’s strengths."
Biden has no strengths, so their strategy is to keep him locked up in his basement! More "wisdom" from a Never Trumper.

Rich Lowry is the snotnose punk of the NeverTrumpers. Not brave enough to lead the cabal - - he skulks around in the back of the crowd - - tosses spitballs - - then hides under his desk.
A pox on him and his ilk.

I’m sure that Lowry believed the polls in 2016 and was completely convinced that the loud and obnoxious reality show host would be easily defeated but the smartest woman on the planet. It appears that, in four years, he has learned nothing from that mistake.

I'm old enough, and smart enough to remember Tom Dewey's campaign in 1948. dewey didn't campaign very much.
President Dewey doesn't resonate, does it?

Biden has no campaign plan, he has no choice but hide out and even that is beyond his ability.

Some foolish democrat campaign advisor, say maybe James Carville, has obviously run out of gas, re campaign ideas and suggested this kind of rope-a-dope(all too true re Biden) and just "hide out". Then with a wink and a "that's how we win, just be reclusive, don't engage" their fate is sealed. That's just great and see you at President Trump's SECOND inauguration! It's that same resigned, tired mentality reflected in Hillary completely skipping some states during 2016 campaigning.

Low key? For Joe that means high speed, sixth gear at the red line!
They have the nerve to call McConnell a Turtle.

My disgust with Rich Lowry and the whole Never Trump crew at National Review is a matter of record. I am a President Trump advocate in part because Pseudo-cons like Lowry achieved so little with so many opportunities.
But not everything he says here is wrong. Victor Davis Hanson, who unlike Lowry actually is a conservative thought leader instead of just playing one on magazine mastheads, is saying similar things.
The Democrats should be in a huge hole right now. Biden is visibly incapable as a candidate and future president. And it is obvious to everyone except him that he will die in office, making this a cynical and unprecedented attempt to usurp the electorate by putting a dying man in office as a "Weekend at Biden's" strategy to emplace a left-wing radical leader.
No one should be considering voting for that scenario, no matter what their political ideology is. Yet many appear to be considering voting against President Trump. Thomas Sowell, who is both a serious intellect and a true conservative, opposed Trump in 2016 because he found him temperamentally unsuited to the office. He has since praised the successes of Trump's policies. However, Sowell also says he turns the TV off whenever President Trump comes on.
When he adopted truly conservative positions, Trump inherited all of our enemies. He has fought for our agenda, and against our enemies, like no leader in my lifetime, including Reagan. However, he also has a temperamental tendency to create enemies when there is no need to.
And I wish he alienated fewer of our friends.

Dems have run plenty of candidates who did not sufficiently 'excite' the Democrat base, and they lost. They need a massive turnout from narrow voting blocs which requires lots of campaigning and hard work. Joe's 'hiding in the crypt' strategy will fail.

I agree sometimes President Trump responds to a person or tweet when he doesn't need to. Expending ammunition when he doesn't need to Trump Jr. could do some of the work while his President father could remain silent. Sometimes President Trump is dead on and says what I would say with more vulgar words that's when I like him. George Bush and Republicans before him would eat the dirt slung at them but not this President. Remember it's a new age and the President only has his 'twitter gun' to draw on his/our enimies.

Trump vs Biden debate will never happen. When choosing not to debate is better than doing the debate - well, Houston, I’d say we’ve got a problem.

Biden taking a page from Hillary's playbook. How's that going to work out? Tom Friedman said, "Only Trump can defeat Trump!"

No one has to be a fan of Rich Lowry to understand he speaks the truth here. Biden's only chance is if the President steps on his own message so often that voters stop listening. The media is enthusiastically helping, of course. I'm gratified to see that President Trump is paring back the Twitter messages just a bit and is apparently making a stronger attempt to refrain from commenting on each bit of shiny object news.
We have to win in November and the President knows it, too.

And Lowry's NeverTrumper TDS keeps coming back, again and again. NR is really such a disaster.
