The 2021 Tournament of Roses Parade has being canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. “The health and well-being of our parade participants and guests, as well as that of our volunteer members, professional staff and partners, is our number one priority,” Bob Miller, 2021 President of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, said in a statement. “Obviously this is not what any of us wanted, and we held off on announcing until we were absolutely sure that safety restrictions would prevent us from continuing with planning for 132nd Rose Parade.” Since it started in 1891, annual parade has not taken place only three times – the wartime years of

Cancel culture. Or perhaps a more complete thought would be, cancel culture nothing left.

But, the parade would be after November 3rd. Does this mean they think Trump is going to win? Otherwise why will the fear need to be perpetuated?

Insanity, but then again, so is this entire scamdemic. Besides, the election will be over by then, as will Covid-19. A miracle.

Can bet the NCAA football season is done then too.

I suspect they got applications for Antifa and BLM floats and didn't want to deal with that. The Antifa float was designed to have large plate glass all around it and they would smash the windows as it goes, lighting the whole thing on fire where the TV cams get their featured shots. The BLM float would have statues which are torn down along the route and police effigies being strung up.
Just easier to punt to the next year.

California should cancel the future indefinitely.

Just a bunch of ChiCom sellout Multinationals hiring the locals to hot glue flowers on floats.
Not as totally debauched as the Macys Thanksgiving Day 'balloons' flying 5' off the ground, but headed that way.

Over a virus that has a 1.5% mortality rate, at worst. Unbelievable. Never underestimate the stupidity of the masses.

This was not unexpected. No, it’s not cancel culture. It takes most of the year (starting in February) to get the Parade together - bands from all over the country and the world, floats (which require living material ordered from all over the world and from South America), equestrian units… 935 volunteers put it on. It is a massive effort. We are sad about it, but this was the only decision they could make.
Those who watch this event from afar haven’t a clue as to the planning and work that goes on throughout the year. It is unique. There isn’t another like it anywhere.

PS, as a native Pasadenan whose involvement in the Parade goes ‘way back to childhood, I wish I hadn’t read the mindless comments on this thread. You can’t help it. You just don’t know any better.

The liberals seem to get the most upset about the meaningless fluff things that do absolutely nothing for the productive people who have better things to do. I guess that's why they are that way about life. If it's of no benefit to 99% of society, they push it for all it's worth and cry when they can't have it.

It's ok 10/11 you tell us time and time again how useless anyone that isn't in California, you quote paragraphs of articles after telling us to read it, and your name dropping skills are second to none. We wouldn't deem ourselves worthy of being in your presence. While the rest of us worry about feeding a nation, you enjoy the entertainment life.

All they have to do is call it the Rose Parade and Protest!! Then they won't even have to wear masks.

Fine.
This will be post-Trump's re-election.
So, he'll order his rightwing supporters and military to take over California, depose Newsome, and restore the parade.
(Just kidding to mess with Leftoid heads)

It's been an awful time, and we're all stepping on each other's toes more than usual, even on this esteemed forum.
May I gently suggest we dial back our criticism of one another and focus on our common enemy: "the Judean People's Front!" (with apologies to Monty Python's Life of Brian).

Who watches this nonsense anyway. The hosts are always the WORST possible people EVER! Haven't seen it in 20 years. The Rose Bowl Game however rocked last year as "America's Team" THE Iowa Hawkeyes stomped all over the USC Trojans!!! It was Glorious!

We can blame it on Newsome. I just signed a recall petition to kick him out of office. Reminds me of the good old days when we kicked out Grey Davis but ended up with Arnold. From bad to worse. New Year’s Day just won’t be the same this year.

However, if you want to pack the parade route with protesters and rioters (with or without masks), the Governor supports you and may even venture out himself to join hands with you.

Here's what's really going to happen. Rose parade cancelled unless Biden wins. Then the virus and riots will disappear and everything will be fine.

We attended for the first time two years ago, and loved it. It was the year that that float caught fire and caused a big delay. Everybody thought that the parade was over and we were standing on Colorado Blvd. at a hot dog stand, when along came the last participant, a marching band from some European country, I forget which. Nobody was behind them, so we fell in walking behind the band, waving to the crowd, who waved back.
Some may not consider that "being in the Rose Parade," but I do.

Rioting, looting, arson and murder to contiune as if nothing is happening. Why cancel chaos if it might hurt Trump, eh?

This mass hysteria event is getting exhausting. And I'm getting a little ticked at Trump. We trusted and followed his lead with the "15 Days" and begrudgingly went the extra month. Now, even TX is flailing in confusion. it would be great if he could STOP the 'I save millions', which we know was never the case, and start addressing us DIRECTLY, telling us it is time to open, and start threatening the governors. Abbott further shut down TX and mandated masks (which earlier said was an affront to personal liberty) on July 2, the day that the average fatality rate was HALF what it was at its highest (2.8) in May. Media is full court press, with the D mayors, flat out lying about hospital capacity. He needs to circle back and lead us out of this.

Hate if for you. Our Palm Sunday, Easter, Mother's Day, Confirmation Sunday and Father's Day services ALL got cancelled at church, so what are your chances of my sympathy? If you dare say ''we are all in this together'' you are going to really deserve a healthy punch!

Sad for the loss of Pasadena revenue, though. The people deserve better.
