The federal government has denied Gov. Tim Walz’s request for aid to help rebuild and repair Twin Cities structures that were damaged in the unrest following George Floyd’s death. Walz asked President Donald Trump to declare a “major disaster” for the state of Minnesota in his request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on July 2. More than 1,500 buildings were damaged by fires, looting and vandalism in the days of unrest that followed Floyd’s May 25 death in Minneapolis police custody, racking up more than $500 million in damages, according to Walz.(Snip) Many small businesses and grocery stores, pharmacies and

In addition to posters #1-3 comments, just maybe the do-gooder celebs could/would ante up. They did for bail money for the rioters.

Perfect.
Incompetent/evil Dems caused this problem, and intentionally worked to make it WORSE, and not stop it. No reason other taxpayers should send money to fix it.
Minnesota - get rid of this guy, and find someone who knows how to keep you safe, enforce the laws fairly and evenhandedly, and get back on track. If you elect another Dem - you are voting to continue to burn.

This is like wanting to buy home insurance after your house burns down. Every decision has a consequence. The decision the governor made to stand down and let mob rule carry on for days is his alone to deal with the aftermath. No bail out for you. Lean a lesson. The only way to pay for it all now is to raise taxes. Get to work.

Trump is no sucker for this BS. Let the residents see what they did, every day, until they elect someone who wouldn't let this happen in the first place.

As a former Minnesotan with many friends and relatives still living there I want to share this thought: you may think that Minneapolis voters are wacko but from 50 years experience dealing with them I have to say ‘ya’ll have no idea how TOTALLY wacko they really are. Irredeemable actually.

Good! My grandma always said, you make your bed, you have to lay in it"! Pretty much applies. The Lefty Democrat Governors and Mayors allowed this Carnage to happen. They refused to let Trump send in the Guard to stop it. They stood by and watched Businesses burn to the ground. They refused to allow their Police Officers to arrest anyone, and if they did, they were let out of jail within hours! So, it all comes down to this, Trump is going to make an Example of this Governor! I can just imagine how that makes the other Dem State Governors feel! Bet they were planning to send in their Bills to Washington as well. Too Bad!

If these Demon-Rat mayors and governors had wanted federal assistance, they would have called in the National Guard to break up these violent protests as soon as they started. They could have used the excuse of the Coronavirus to justify it if they were afraid of being branded as "racists".
Now they have allowed the violent protests and riots to cause millions of dollars of destruction, and probably spread the Coronavirus as a "bonus", and now these idiot Demon-Rats want our tax dollars to fix their stupidity and evil.
No!!!! Just no!!!! You broke it, you buy it!!!!!

#21 - the next time the natives riot, maybe they'll head for the Uptown/Lake of the Isles/Lake Calhoun area so the residents there will know how the small business owners felt watching their livelihoods destroyed.

President Trump offered Waltz help when it would have done some good - to STOP the riots. Waltz and the mayors were too busy dancing with BLM and let it burn. They can fix it themselves now. Besides, who in their right mind would want a store in these areas now?

In case anyone is worried that this decision by Trump will hurt his chances to win the state of Minnesota this November, the last time a Republican presidential candidate took the state was Nixon in 1972...48 years ago.
In 1984 the only state that went for Mondale was Minnesota.

There's an important lesson to be learned here. Never allow the destruction of your own cities for political reasons unless there's a Democrat in the White House.
I bet that every Democratic mayor and governor took notice of the Fed's refusal to help rebuild damage caused by Leftist rioters. This single action by the Fed will mean the end of major riots across America.

I would like to recall for everyone that the Governor's charming daughter was caught advising violent demonstrators that it would take the National Guard at least 24 hours to arrive in Minneapolis after her father had announced the guard's mobilization. She advised "protestors" they were "safe" to carry on until then.
She further announced, cheerfully, that her father had told her as much about the delay.
The Governor and his family are liable for the damage. I hear he's a pretty rich guy. Maybe he can contribute his daughter's inheritance to the cause of rebuilding the city they helped ruin.

While the fed is at it, they ought to bill the mayors of any cities which allowed statues to be torn down. I wonder how much it would cost to replace a 15 foot high bronze statue...
