The federal government has denied Gov. Tim Walz’s request for aid to help rebuild and repair Twin Cities structures that were damaged in the unrest following George Floyd’s death. Walz asked President Donald Trump to declare a “major disaster” for the state of Minnesota in his request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on July 2. More than 1,500 buildings were damaged by fires, looting and vandalism in the days of unrest that followed Floyd’s May 25 death in Minneapolis police custody, racking up more than $500 million in damages, according to Walz.(Snip) Many small businesses and grocery stores, pharmacies and

The state and city stood down while the man-caused disaster unfolded, feeling everyone's pain, and now they want the rest of us to pay the bills for their misguided compassion. Rightly denied.

Perfect. Incompetent/evil Dems caused this problem, and intentionally worked to make it WORSE, and not stop it. No reason other taxpayers should send money to fix it. Minnesota - get rid of this guy, and find someone who knows how to keep you safe, enforce the laws fairly and evenhandedly, and get back on track. If you elect another Dem - you are voting to continue to burn.

This is like wanting to buy home insurance after your house burns down. Every decision has a consequence. The decision the governor made to stand down and let mob rule carry on for days is his alone to deal with the aftermath. No bail out for you. Lean a lesson. The only way to pay for it all now is to raise taxes. Get to work.

Good! My grandma always said, you make your bed, you have to lay in it"! Pretty much applies. The Lefty Democrat Governors and Mayors allowed this Carnage to happen. They refused to let Trump send in the Guard to stop it. They stood by and watched Businesses burn to the ground. They refused to allow their Police Officers to arrest anyone, and if they did, they were let out of jail within hours! So, it all comes down to this, Trump is going to make an Example of this Governor! I can just imagine how that makes the other Dem State Governors feel! Bet they were planning to send in their Bills to Washington as well. Too Bad!

If these Demon-Rat mayors and governors had wanted federal assistance, they would have called in the National Guard to break up these violent protests as soon as they started. They could have used the excuse of the Coronavirus to justify it if they were afraid of being branded as "racists". I would like to recall for everyone that the Governor's charming daughter was caught advising violent demonstrators that it would take the National Guard at least 24 hours to arrive in Minneapolis after her father had announced the guard's mobilization. She advised "protestors" they were "safe" to carry on until then. She further announced, cheerfully, that her father had told her as much about the delay. The Governor and his family are liable for the damage. I hear he's a pretty rich guy. Maybe he can contribute his daughter's inheritance to the cause of rebuilding the city they helped ruin.

The punches came so fast, she didn’t know what to do. The vicious assault left her with a black eye and a swollen face, 26-year-old Victoria told the Daily News on Saturday. She also has cuts and bruises on her arms and legs. “You get punched in the face that many times, you just don’t really know what’s going on around you,” said the Astoria woman, who asked that her last name not be used.

Responding officers applied a tourniquet and she was transported to the hospital by ambulance with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries have been reported to police; however, bullets struck at least eight occupied apartments and seven vehicles.

The Chevy Chase Circle Fountain has the name of Francis Newlands etched in stone along with a plaque. The National Audubon Society is re-examining and confronting the racist and slave-owning past of its namesake. The non-profit environmental organization, dedicated to the conservation of birds and other wildlife, was founded in 1905 and named in honor of Franco-American ornithologist John James Audubon. Audubon is perhaps most famous for illustrating birds in their natural habitats and publishing his book, Birds of America, as a series in sections between 1827 and 1838.
