NEW YORK – Five years after taking Broadway by storm with its multi-racial, hip-hop take on America’s founding fathers, “Hamilton” arrives in millions of homes around the world on Friday as a film.Shot over three days in 2016 at the stage musical featuring the original cast, the film lands on the Disney+ streaming service as America celebrates Independence Day weekend. For creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda, it’s a chance to connect with people at a time of global restrictions to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Live theater in the United States has been shut down since mid-March.“It actually feels great that we have the ability to give this as a gift

I have had zero interest in seeing this. Another agenda piece badly disguised as a “musical”.
Ditto to #1. (I can still sing songs from “Oklahoma!" and other hit musicals from the past.

Ah, must miss propaganda TV. I think I'm going to make a musical about the slave trade, from the slave traders' point of view. Should be a laugh riot.

But that rap-based racist piece of revisionist history won't ever see the light of day in my living room!!!

"...the film lands on the Disney+ streaming service..." = No one will be watching. I don't do "streaming" but from my understanding this is a subscription service that allows a person to watch what they want, when they want. It will be interesting to see how many people actually choose to watch racist revisionist history...during the Fourth of July weekend. Is there public reporting of the numbers watching particular streaming programs as is done for the networks? I imagine three days filming a stage production cost some Benjamins. I hope Disney is happy with their, shall we say, white elephant.

This really angers me. How is it OK to have black people playing white historical characters. This is hypocrisy at its very worst.

I wonder if the cast and Disney will make sure that Pence and his wife are not allowed to watch it--you know , for the sake of consistency.

When actors teach "history".....
Like 1619, fiction presented as Marxist PC fact. Sad that people have no critical thinking skills to see past this ahistorical fraud.

Not in my home it won't. With blacks permeating all programming and all commercials, I am constantly reminded just how far they have ridden on the backs of the other races and I am angered at their demands for more. Hip-hop, rap and all that other "art" is pure trash. Others may watch it if they like.
There has been absoluting no reporting on the BET awards presented last week. What's up with that? No audience?

This propaganda is going to be on DISNEY streaming. That means lots of kids that will only be told this side of history instead of the truth. How can we stop all the lies, especially when all the elected Republicans besides Pres. Trump have gone into hibernation, apparently?

Re #11, I think I saw streaming viewership numbers for President Trump’s Tulsa rally, so I believe there is some sort of count available. Here is one article I found:

Skip this garbage and find "1776" with William Daniels. Outstanding musical. Probably not absolutely accurate but still highly entertaining. I've seen it live as well if you can find a theater not slobbering over crap like Hamilton.

Hamilton is a salute to 'correct' cultural appropriation of Caucasian historical characters.
Next we will see the musical by George Gershwin, Porgy and Bess with all white actors.
I don't think so!!!!!

A "black" actor plays Hamilton. Cultural appropriation! Racism!
And as far a singing a tune form the show - - there ARE no tunes. Music today doesn't need anything as simplistic as a "tune."

This musical is based on the actions of a group of Caucasians in the late 18th century. Why not produce a musical based on a group of sub-Saharan Africans in the late-18th century?

If you don't watch a documentary on Alexander Hamilton before you watch, you likely will miss a whole bunch of this story.
It moves along at a very fast clip, and without some historical reference, most will likely be lost quickly.

If cartoon depictions of black people must use voices only of black people, the cast of Hamilton must be changed to all-white except for those who were actually black who are depicted in the play.

Ok so we've demanded that white actors not do voice overs of ethnic cartoon characters. So whose gonna point out that Judas was a jew not a black guy. And Hamilton was a white guy not a black guy. Hey what's good for the goose should be good for the gander. I call this definitely cultural appropriation.

Ahhhm, "Hamilton was white!" That is what I write on the back of every 10 dollar bill I get. I even got 10 of them from my bank. I spread the joy.
I have asked the question when will "Porgy and Bess" been done with translucent white people?

This thing is cultural appropriation at its ugliest. They couldn't have been more obvious if they had shown Aaron Burr holding his gun sideways when he shot Hamilton!!
Besides, I have no interest in supporting productions filled with actors who rudely lecture paying audience members. Playing a historical character does not make you a historian. You are an overpaid meat puppet who recites lines and sings songs for a living. Get over yourself already!!

Why is this show not considered the ultimate in cultural appropriation??? Why is it acceptable to the left to have an all African American cast portray the culture and achievements of an all white European caucasian effort??? Why aren't whites totally offended by this ??? It offends me. Stolen valor and glory.

LOL, right all those awards and praise for this mess. No thinks. I'd rather catch up on the 'woke' Batwoman who thanks to the kids, is now a lesbian. This thing is even more boring and wokey than that.
There must be a documentary about the Whiskey Rebellion, that would be Hamilton's real legacy. His brilliant idea was to tax frontier farmers on their whiskey to pay for the Revolution and the big, bright new Capital in DC. Then he gets shot, Jefferson becomes President and repeals the whiskey tax and George Washington builds the biggest distillery in the country. I don't begrudge George for that, but the whole thing was the first of many DC hypocrisies.
