The Mysterious Anomaly Weakening
Earth's Magnetic Field Seems to Be Splitting

The South Atlantic Anomaly is a vast expanse of reduced magnetic intensity in Earth's magnetic field, extending all the way from South America to southwest Africa. Since our planet's magnetic field acts as a kind of shield – protecting Earth from solar winds and cosmic radiation, in addition to determining the location of the magnetic poles – any reduction in its strength is an important event we need to monitor closely, as these changes could ultimately have significant implications for our planet. At present, there's nothing to be alarmed about. The ESA notes that the most significant effects right now are largely limited to technical malfunctions

This all sounds consistent with what was predicted decades ago, when one of Scientific American's issues featured reports about the coming reversal of the magnetic field. The deposition of basalt in lava flows recorded past oscillations of the field, and usually indicated a softening or weakening of the field before it exhibited periods of instability in its weakened state (sometimes even sprouting multiple 'poles' like branches), before flipping and then gradually re-stabilizing in its new condition. The process as described was said to take thousands of years in most cases.

Through the centuries, people have scoffed at theories that were later proven true; for example, the earth is round; the earth revolves around the sun; pasteurization, diseases are spread by germs. One absolute certainty is that God created the universe; on the second day, He separated the waters and called the expanse above the waters Heaven; He declared His creation “perfect.” (Genesis 1:31). In 1949, propelled by a V-2 rocket developed by German’s Wernher von Braun’s team of researchers, the “Bumper-WAC” became the first human-made object to enter space. Considering the vast number of man-made penetrations into the protective layers of the earth’s atmosphere, questions have been raised whether or not such disturbances may, over time, weaken the protective layers of the earth’s atmosphere and cause serious, dangerous repercussions on earth that would include the quality of air necessary for survival, crops, water, etc., as well as climate change. In a sense, man is tampering with God’s created order.

Stage Is Set for Showdown Over General Flynn 5 replies
Posted by StormCnter 6/2/2020 10:48:13 AM Post Reply
It looks like the stage is set for quite a showdown over separated powers and the fate of General Michael Flynn. It will pit, on the one hand, America and President Trump’s first national security adviser against, on the other hand, a United States district judge, who has balked over a motion by the government to dismiss the criminal charges to which the general once pled guilty. The stakes, though, are bigger than General Flynn alone. That’s because the district judge, Emmet Sullivan, has signaled he’s considering opening a new legal attack against the general and, through him, the Justice Department itself. He’s suggested he’s prepared

Donald Trump is “blundering toward nuclear chaos.” That’s the verdict rendered by the organization Global Zero, which received a signal boost on Wednesday from National Security Action, an advocacy group founded by Obama administration alumni Ben Rhodes and Jake Sullivan. The portrait National Security Action’s Ned Price paints of Trump’s nuclear brinkmanship is a bleak one: The Trump administration has already abrogated bilateral accords such as the Open Skies Treaty and the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty with its nuclear peer, Russia.

Savagery is spreading with lightning speed across the United States, with murderous assaults on police officers and civilians and the ecstatic annihilation of businesses and symbols of the state. Welcome to a real civilization-destroying pandemic, one that makes the recent saccharine exhortations to “stay safe” and the deployment of police officers to enforce outdoor mask-wearing seem like decadent bagatelles. This particular form of viral chaos was inevitable, given the failure of Minneapolis’s leaders to quell the city’s growing mayhem. The violence began on Tuesday, May 26, the day after the horrifying arrest and subsequent death of George Floyd. On the night of Thursday, May 28, Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey

There was a familiar refrain from political commentators on certain corners of the internet in the early days of the pandemic – a three-word slogan in the vein of ‘Get Brexit Done’ that popped up wherever people felt the government’s lockdown plans impinged on their rights: what about Sweden? The Nordic country was used as an example of why closing down society in the way that most other European countries have done was unnecessary. Even now, restaurants and bars in Stockholm remain open, children are still going to school, and people are only advised to stay at home if they feel ill – rather than whole households

If you’ve ever seen the television show Friends, you know that it’s about six young people in Manhattan, navigating romance, career, and friendships. Or is it? Maybe it’s actually about a homeless psychotic woman—the character of Phoebe, played by Lisa Kudrow—who peers into the window of the hip coffee joint and imagines the lives and adventures of the personalities she spies on, with herself as a beloved member of the group of friends. It’s all in her mind, all 10 seasons, and the theory is given a little bit of ballast by the series finale, in which the other characters move out of Manhattan and leave Phoebe alone,

In the end, the words that Michael Flynn uttered to Russia's ambassador that landed the former Trump national security in a three-year legal nightmare were simply this: "We need cool heads to prevail." That was the message Flynn delivered to Sergey Kislyak on Dec. 29, 2016, the day outgoing President Barack Obama imposed sanctions on Russia for meddling in the U.S. election, according to newly declassified transcripts of the conversation. Yes, Flynn talked sanctions. But his message not to escalate a sanctions war was similar to what his future boss, Donald Trump, presented the next day and what many other experts recommended.

Attorney General William Barr issued a statement Saturday decrying the rioters who have violently hijacked peaceful protests over the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. The attorney general made explicit reference to “groups of outside radicals and agitators” who are pursuing a “separate and violent agenda.” Barr added: “In many places, it appears the violence is planned, organized and driven by anarchist and far left extremists, using Antifa-like tactics, many of whom travel from out of state to promote the violence.” The mention of Antifa is significant. It is a loosely-knit, interstate movement whose objective is to wage a terrorist war against the United States, using violence

In 2014, shortly after his release from a Texas prison, George Floyd moved to Minnesota for a fresh start. In Minneapolis, he worked as a truck driver and as a security guard at the Conga Latin Bistro, where he was known as “Big Floyd.” A few months ago, he was laid off due to the strict stay-at-home order imposed by the state’s Democratic governor, Tim Walz. Floyd looked for work; it’s unclear if he was eligible for coronavirus-related unemployed benefits. Bad habits crept back in. Earlier this week, Floyd, apparently under the influence of an intoxicant, attempted to buy a package of cigarettes from a small shop

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey opened up a Pandora’s box two days ago by dropping a fact-check on a tweet by Donald Trump regarding mail-in ballots. That raised all sorts of hell from a bombastic President, as well as more questions than answers. There are several problems with Twitter deciding to put its thumb on the scale of ‘truth’ on its social platform. The site has previously come under enormous scrutiny over widely perceived political and ideological bias. The charges against the company include its unfair and unbalanced actions in banning conservative or politically right-leaning accounts, as well as shadow-banning and limiting views and engagements on trending topics which it deems problematic.

Next week marks Clint Eastwood’s 90th birthday, which means that the esteemed actor and director has lived through 15 Presidential administrations and the complete political realignment of both parties several times over, one World War and upwards of a dozen non-World ones, cinema’s proliferation of color and CGI and its digital overhaul, McCarthyism, terrorism and everything else that could possibly be contained within nearly a century of history. Through it all, his philosophies have remained remarkably consistent: he subscribes to a rugged individualism, first articulated through the strong, silent types of the Wild West and then expanded to encompass a smorgasbord of modern-day heroes.

What is happening to Fox News Channel? With the exception of its primetime lineup and a few regular contributors, Fox News increasingly is indistinguishable from its cable news competitors. The network, once considered the sole antidote to dominant left-wing news organizations—both print and broadcast—is making a fatal brand mistake: Alienating its customer base. For nearly 25 years, conservatives have depended on Fox News to report the news in a way that represents their views. Conservatives knew issues, like those surrounding the pro-life movement, could count on fair coverage from the network rather than the scorn and derision they get in mainstream media. Even recently, Fox News was the only outlet pursuing

Rapper Ice Cube has asked if Donald Trump could become the first U.S. president to nuke an American city after he pledged to employ military force if nationwide riots are not brought to an end. In an address made from the Rose Garden on Monday, Trump described the violent protests as “domestic acts of terror” that law enforcement must “dominate the streets” in order to quell. “If a city or state refuses to take the actions necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the United States military and quickly solve the problem for them,” Trump said. Sen. Lindsey Graham on Tuesday questioned how much blame should be directed at Antifa for the violent protests and looting in the wake of George Floyd’s death in police custody. Mr. Graham, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Antifa has played “a part” in the civil unrest. But the South Carolina Republican noted that rioting and looting happened during protests long before the militant anti-fascist group became a movement. “We will try to find out how organized this violence is,” Mr. Graham said. “But I am old enough to remember 1968, and Antifa was not around in 1968, that I know of.”

That goes all the way back to Dr. Martin Luther King," he said.
